Forgotten Places: Regained Castle is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Surprisingly Beautiful SE Game It was a very long game with a solid storyline that had a satisfying, appropriate ending. I found consistent quality throughout. Even though the lips were crazy-out of sync, the written dialogue was well written and easy to follow. I loved the story and the characters. The main character was a beautiful young lady with a big adventure ahead of her, but I will not spoil it by telling all. I will tell you that it is a good game and story. The graphics are absolutely gorgeous with rich colors and interesting scenes. There were 57 collectible butterflies to be discovered and a little window popped out on left of screen to keep you informed of your butterfly count. The jump-map was superb and took you quickly to the locations, it was a different kind of map which would take you around the grounds by holding down the left control and moving your mouse about...the areas with no further action available were in faded outline. Main character's face showed where you presently were, her hand showed where tasks were available. The hint button was a beautiful perfume atomizer that sprayed in the direction of your item, a sweet extra touch! And the hint button was quick re-loading and took you to locations like the map did. I was very impressed with the game mechanics. The HOGs, puzzles, games were all terrific. There was a potion-mixing one that especially enjoyed. It was a most entertaining game. The options included left-handed mode, custom cursor if you wish and multiple language choices. The sound FX and music were excellent. There are extras after completion of game: Diary which was already viewed in game, a book of hand-drawn & painted butterflies and a book of hidden object scenes. the HOs even though fun to play were time consuming so I stopped only because after completing each one, the book closed & returned to menu where you had to go back each time to continue on with the next one. Too time consuming. There were no gruesome scenes in this game, no crazy maniacs on the loose. Just a big beautiful castle with a big mystery to solve. I highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Give it a go I thoroughly enjoyed this game and own the music as well. Excellent graphics and great storyline. It begins with you coming down to an old run down castle to discover that your uncle who you hoped to visit, has passed away unexpectedly and a mystery begins. I won't give away any further details as it would spoil the plot. But I would have liked this game to be a collector's edition. Players, please give this game a go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A 'diamond in the rough'..... a truly wonderful SE game. I absolutely love this game! I've been playing it for 4 hours. now and am still not done. Although you have to manually back out of every site which can be a pain, there is also an interactive map that makes getting from one area to another action scene, easy. The hint gives clear direction and refills quite quickly. I wouldn't recommend it for those who are new to Adventure HOG's. But a great game for anyone who is experienced. The graphics are good and the HOS's are not easy but standard, which I happen to like. Many of the puzzles can be a bit challenging but that's a plus for me. The story is not clear, but I believe that's the intention, to keep one in suspense for as long as possible. Which I also happen to like a lot. All in all a great SE game!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Didn't regret giving this game more than 10 minutes I was planning to dump this game after ten minutes of playing but decided to keep at it another ten minutes and by then I was hooked. Yes, the interface is clunky to say the least by today's standards, but the rest of the game makes up for this. Good music, no "messy" or "overdone" scenes like most games today (where I give up playing because there's just too much nonsense). I like a clean game with just a few things to do in each scene and this game provides that. Good map and hint system and there is a collectable which I like (thank you devs for not making it into a horrible morphing thing). A simple, realaxing game well worth a punch card code if you give it a chance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A thinker This game required attention to detail. It actually required me to keep notes of what was needed and where. I really liked the challenge. Some info is needed on a few game locations, but after playing with stuff like the numbered panels on the dungeon entrance it was figured out. Items like that made it slow going but I liked the challenge of the game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from There are collectibles in this SE game! Even though Regained Castle reminded me of old school hidden object games, it has a lot going for it. I rated it a solid four stars across the board because it's not perfect, but it kept me interested until the end. Graphics are hand drawn but they're clear and well-drawn. Hidden object scenes are basic, no interactive element, but they're quick and enjoyable. The puzzles were fun as well. There are no voice overs but the dialogue is well written and flows nicely. The music and sound effects are pleasant and don't require being turned off. While I wasn't automatically taken out scenes when I completed tasks, I didn't find that a big deal. And having to drag items to where I needed to use them was also not annoying to me -- there are many games that work the same way. What I was most impressed about was the immersive story line and that there were collectibles to search for in this standard edition game. Regained Castle had a lot more going for it than most of the new CE offerings coming out. I recommend trying it for the trial period to see what YOU think.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from If it only weren't that slow... My review is only based on the trial, but I gave up, because: I think the game could be really awesome - if it weren't for the slowness of clicking on other scenes. It annoyed me so much I always have to wait until I can see where I can go or where I can click for a close-up, it really spoiled the fun for me. Everey time you leave a scene or heard a dialogue, it takes some seconds until the pointer is ready to point again. I'm really sorry, but that feels like back in the early 2000's and really spoils the the gameplay for me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Goodstoryline... I liked this game but it also made me crazy! The story was interesting and I could have liked it except the lagging monologue. I don't recommend the game but don't take my word for it try it yourself

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not easy to play, but... Well, this one is a riddle, really. To be totally honest with you, it's not easy, to play or to even enjoy. First of all, in every scene that your female character speaks, you must press the next button, wait until she finishes, wait until the perfume bottle shows up and then continue your course. Oh, and did I tell you? The characters don't actually talk, just move their lips and no sound is heard. That's so... old school? Not even that. But, in its defense, this HOG has 59 different scenes in total (I mean wow!) to explore, a map that's very-very helpful and its actual gameplay makes scenes and sucks you in. So that's a huge plus. But, if you wanna play an easy-in-the eye game, then skip this one. But, I suggest you give it a go! (or two).

Rated 3 out of 5 by from ?????? The reason for the Question marks in my title is because I couldn't really think of what to say. I really did want to like this game but the controls made me crazy! It seemed that every time I wanted to click on something I had to wait for the scene to catch up. The click and crag from the inventory is a bit difficult. There were times that I just couldn't get a grip on the item without several tries. Maybe it's just that I am tense today but I play to relax and this didn't do the trick. The story seemed okay and I think I would've really liked it if not for the navigation/control issue. Please, anyone reading this try for yourself. I was so excited to see a Adventure/HO Standard Edition but it just didn't work out for me.
