A 'diamond in the rough'..... a truly wonderful SE game. I absolutely love this game! I've been playing it for 4 hours. now and am still not done. Although you have to manually back out of every site which can be a pain, there is also an interactive map that makes getting from one area to another action scene, easy. The hint gives clear direction and refills quite quickly. I wouldn't recommend it for those who are new to Adventure HOG's. But a great game for anyone who is experienced. The graphics are good and the HOS's are not easy but standard, which I happen to like. Many of the puzzles can be a bit challenging but that's a plus for me. The story is not clear, but I believe that's the intention, to keep one in suspense for as long as possible. Which I also happen to like a lot. All in all a great SE game! July 5, 2016
Give it a go I thoroughly enjoyed this game and own the music as well. Excellent graphics and great storyline. It begins with you coming down to an old run down castle to discover that your uncle who you hoped to visit, has passed away unexpectedly and a mystery begins. I won't give away any further details as it would spoil the plot. But I would have liked this game to be a collector's edition. Players, please give this game a go. July 21, 2016
There are collectibles in this SE game! Even though Regained Castle reminded me of old school hidden object games, it has a lot going for it. I rated it a solid four stars across the board because it's not perfect, but it kept me interested until the end. Graphics are hand drawn but they're clear and well-drawn. Hidden object scenes are basic, no interactive element, but they're quick and enjoyable. The puzzles were fun as well. There are no voice overs but the dialogue is well written and flows nicely. The music and sound effects are pleasant and don't require being turned off. While I wasn't automatically taken out scenes when I completed tasks, I didn't find that a big deal. And having to drag items to where I needed to use them was also not annoying to me -- there are many games that work the same way. What I was most impressed about was the immersive story line and that there were collectibles to search for in this standard edition game. Regained Castle had a lot more going for it than most of the new CE offerings coming out. I recommend trying it for the trial period to see what YOU think. July 6, 2016
A thinker This game required attention to detail. It actually required me to keep notes of what was needed and where. I really liked the challenge. Some info is needed on a few game locations, but after playing with stuff like the numbered panels on the dungeon entrance it was figured out. Items like that made it slow going but I liked the challenge of the game. July 8, 2016
Didn't regret giving this game more than 10 minutes I was planning to dump this game after ten minutes of playing but decided to keep at it another ten minutes and by then I was hooked. Yes, the interface is clunky to say the least by today's standards, but the rest of the game makes up for this. Good music, no "messy" or "overdone" scenes like most games today (where I give up playing because there's just too much nonsense). I like a clean game with just a few things to do in each scene and this game provides that. Good map and hint system and there is a collectable which I like (thank you devs for not making it into a horrible morphing thing). A simple, realaxing game well worth a punch card code if you give it a chance. July 27, 2016
Good time passer This is based on the demo. Pros: You can choose your language; there is a left-handed mode; and extras are available after game is finished. You can find 57 butterflies. Cons: You have to hold the mouse on objects and drag them to where they can be used. You have to back out of scenes when you are through with them. HOS are just ordinary, not interactive. There is written text; lips don't move. Graphics are ok - little cartoonish. Three modes of play. July 5, 2016
?????? The reason for the Question marks in my title is because I couldn't really think of what to say. I really did want to like this game but the controls made me crazy! It seemed that every time I wanted to click on something I had to wait for the scene to catch up. The click and crag from the inventory is a bit difficult. There were times that I just couldn't get a grip on the item without several tries. Maybe it's just that I am tense today but I play to relax and this didn't do the trick. The story seemed okay and I think I would've really liked it if not for the navigation/control issue. Please, anyone reading this try for yourself. I was so excited to see a Adventure/HO Standard Edition but it just didn't work out for me. July 6, 2016
Clunky and Uninviting This game had the potential to be pretty cool. But it seems like an attempt to be different just made the game not at all player friendly. The interfaces with the girl are slow and the functionality seems to have been broken up to just be annoying. I didn't like that the back button and the compass are separate from all the other controls and that everything seems so manual. And there are actions that are required to be taken that have no impact on the game. (i.e. turning the light out in her room before she could leave) The forced zoom in and out at first seemed helpful but quickly got old. Just overall not a pleasant game to play and I would not recommend to anyone. July 6, 2016
Could be so promising This game has great potential to be a really awesome game. Unfortunately, the things that keep it from being so are mostly centered around moving through the various scenes in a smooth, meaningful way. I found it very frustrating that you are unable to click into a scene until you either SKIP or FORWARD the character's thoughts. In addition, having to back out of each scene by clicking the back button at the top of the screen doesn't help the flow of the storyline and it's purpose. Overall, the navigation limits this game. I played until the end of the demo but feel I could have been so much further along in the story had the navigation been easier. July 5, 2016
Not easy to play, but... Well, this one is a riddle, really. To be totally honest with you, it's not easy, to play or to even enjoy. First of all, in every scene that your female character speaks, you must press the next button, wait until she finishes, wait until the perfume bottle shows up and then continue your course. Oh, and did I tell you? The characters don't actually talk, just move their lips and no sound is heard. That's so... old school? Not even that. But, in its defense, this HOG has 59 different scenes in total (I mean wow!) to explore, a map that's very-very helpful and its actual gameplay makes scenes and sucks you in. So that's a huge plus. But, if you wanna play an easy-in-the eye game, then skip this one. But, I suggest you give it a go! (or two). July 7, 2016
