Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice game for the gamers who love to play and have a rest! This is the classic HOPs game. If you want to enjoy the classic gameplay with interesting storytelling, interesting and non-hard puzzles, and not so much HOs scenes, you can just buy this game - all is simple.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CAN YOU OUTSMART THE DOPPELGANGER? Sometimes the world and life in general can seem difficult particularly during those years when one forms a self-image. During those formative years as a teenager Alex always wished she was someone else, and the tragic loss of her sister only increased her desire for a new persona and an exciting life. Now Alex is a young woman on the doorstep of a new life with marriage to her “prince charming” Ryan but those old doubts and feelings of not being enough somehow creep into her feelings. As she is preparing her veil for the ceremony she happens to look at her grandfather’s creepy mirror and sees the face of her alter-ego staring back at her. Almost Immediately Alex is grabbed and trapped in the mirror while the “doppelganger” Xela taunts her and promises to keep her trapped forever. Can you help Alex escape this nightmare and reunite with her love before it is too late? The game has all of the technical features I love – great colorful graphics, voiceovers, good soundtrack, custom setting, and an interactive transporter style map. The HOPS are fun and the items are clear and fairly easy to find. There is some variety in the type of scenes presented and some are interactive. Although the puzzles are a bit easy side they are still enjoyable. Even those gamers who dislike puzzles in HOPA games will find these entertaining. The game’s shortcoming as a CE is a lack of extra content. IMHO, the game really is not CE worthy with only one collectible and a smattering of other extras. It is surprising that the game even qualified as a CE. Still, there is the in-game strategy guide that is a nice feature for those who might be new to playing HOPA games and need that extra nudge when stuck. Surprisingly, I really like this game. There are those who might think it is a bit too easy or perhaps juvenile but it is a nice HOPA game that still has, at least for me, good entertainment value. Sometimes I like to have a game where I don’t have to tear my hair out in frustration trying to figure out what to do next. I love HOPA games and for more than years I have played almost every one of them that BFG has offered. Yes the game is nothing new but I do like the storyline and the presentation so Stranded Dreamscapes the Doppelganger will find a home in my gaming library. Even though I love the game, as always, please try the demo to see if you will also find that this game is a keeper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Something a Bit Different. Based on the Demo only. I rather enjoyed this game, it's not fast paced and quite relaxing. The graphics are a bit grainy but they didn't bother me. You get two helpers, one is positive and the is other negative. They are rather talkative but they do occasionally provide things you need and give you tips. Don't bother searching for the Map as one of the helpers gives it to you. It's quite a clear map and transports you quickly. There is only one collectible, 40 wine glasses to find, and if you miss one later in the game you have probably drunk the contents of the glasses. Only joking, but it did make me crave a glass of champagne! The HOS in the demo were lists with some interaction, also ones with a storyline where you have to find the highlighted word. They were relatively easy compared to other devs HOS' that have you sitting there for ages trying to find the last item. Puzzles and Mini Games were also relatively easy in the demo. 12 Achievements - I think, but I could be wrong. I liked the pace as there was no crashing music to urge you to rush through the game to save someone or escape from something.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I am pleased!! This game is a winner for me albeit the graphics could be crisper. I love the story line. Very compelling for me to move forward to help Alex. The dolls are cool!! This is a good game with an interesting storyline. Also with a lot of challenges ahead. A keeper for sure:)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from All In The Mirror This game has a lot going on for it. Game play and inventory quite good. Lots to do, Jump map, Collect wine glasses, Several types of HO's, Nice puzzles, and good cut scenes. Game almost a little to dark, but will do. I really like this game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Multiple personality or just plain old insane? My review is based on the demo played in custom mode and I'll say right off that this is not CE worthy. The story is you're Alex, a woman preparing for her wedding when your doppelganger, Xela (yes, that's Alex backwards), drags you into creepy mirror world and takes your place in the real world as the blushing bride to be. You have to find your way back to the real world and you're assisted in the mirror world by these two very creepy dolls who's voices send chills up and down the spine. You should have known that something was going to go wrong when you allowed your fiance to see your gown before the ceremony! As you begin playing you start getting items into your inventory. This is how all games are done but, in this game, it seems to be done in a very disconnected manner. Usually, in these HO games, there is story and then you look for items to further the story. In this game it's the other way around. You start getting stuff with no idea of why. It just feels odd to me. Then you have the visuals. The artwork is juvenile, more like old-time comic books rather than the artwork of a modern-day HOG. The artwork doesn't detract from the creepiness of the two guide dolls though. They really are a piece of work! I could see having nightmares about them. Sound is pretty good. The music is limited and suits gameplay and the voices were pretty good, too. Much better than I would have expected considering the limitations of the visuals. There were more HOS's than there were mini games and the mini's were very simple. I consider myself to be an intermediate player, even though I've been playing HOG's for years, and this game was too easy for me, at least as far as the demo goes. There are achievements to be earned and wine glasses to be collected. The wine glasses are huge and fairly prominently displayed in each scene. You really couldn't miss them. At the end of the demo I looked at the page of the wine glasses and when I moused over them I could see there were a lot more areas listed than what the interactive game map had shown so that tells me this is probably a longer game. Oh, and it's a transportable map, too. I was enjoying the demo because I liked what appeared to be a multiple personality disorder story and those creepy little dolls however, I think this will be a better SE purchase. It's just not up to snuff for a CE price. I recommend you try the demo and see if you agree.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A rather 'strange' dreamscapes game....But aren't they ALL rather strange?? BASED ON 60 MINS OF PLAYING THE DEMO: This is a rather 'strange' game, but fun nonetheless. Here are the highlights: 1. A transporter map (but it's not available right away). 2. Easy and fun puzzles. 3. Interesting HOS: storybook-type HOS that we've seen before, but this seem to take it a step further by adding more pages of a book, thus giving you more of the background of the story. 4. The voices used for this game were nice and appropriate: nice and distinct. Here are the lowlights of the game: 1. The cutscenes weren't clear at all. Colors were grainy in appearance and somewhat blurry. 2. No lip movement from the various characters. You heard the voiceovers, but the lips did not move. 3. A rather simple game, not much of a challenge. 4. An extremely EASY ability to locate the HUGE wine glasses that you need to collect. All in all, this isn't that bad of a game, if you're looking for something laid back with an easy flow to it. But if you're looking for something with a challenge, then you might just want to skip this one. However, I recommend this game, as I oftentimes want just that: Something to play to immerse myself in, to escape reality, if only for awhile :)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from menza menza I've played better games. On the short side compared to other HOs. Graphics are so-so. Mini-game challenge was moderate. Most of the objects that you receive after a hidden object round were NOT among the hidden objects. Personally, I found that annoying. Probably just because it's not the norm. The story wasn't really interesting. Certainly not suspenseful or charming, or anything else that would have grabbed me. I picked it up for half price. I'm certainly glad I didn't pay full price for it, as I would have surely felt gypped.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very simple game... Hi friends! This was a little different game, in that it is quite simple. The graphics are not bad at all, very clear for the most part. Colors are fairly true. Game play was good, and no problems during the demo. Animation isn't bad and most movements are pretty smooth. Voice overs aren't bad, but it seems games lately have had fewer and fewer. This one seems to have more dialogue than what we've seen lately and is done quite nicely. Music is fairly quiet, but unobtrusive. Not much in the way of sound FX. We sort of have helper in the way of creepy looking dolls. I have a feeling they aren't good guys. Be aware that there are bright lights now and then. HOPs are a combination of interactive lists, straight lists, match items, find differences. The scenes are pretty clean and items are not difficult to find. The circling lights when an item is found, is quite annoying. I did not see that you could switch to something else, if you don't care for the HOPs. Puzzles are very easy and nothing new. Hint system is helpful, but it didn't transport to longer locations. The jump map did come in handy and areas are well marked with picture, location name and whether or not there is an objective. I didn't even look at the SG. The only collectibles I found are very, very large champagne glasses. This game definitely needed more in the way of collectibles. Very disappointing. I found this game to be very slow in the beginning. Naturally it began to pick up when the demo ended! This is not a challenging game at all. The story is a little different, but predictable. I do not feel it is CE worthy, simply because of the lack of collectibles. Obviously the devs did not pay attention to suggestions made for the beta. Personally, I think it is geared more toward beginners. Yes, I do recommend it for beginners, but not for seasoned gamers who want a little more in their games, unless you just want a simple no brainer game for a change of pace. I will put this one in my puddle and see if the SE suits me more. I frequently will get the SE when I do not feel a game is CE worthy. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may find this one to be exactly what you are looking for. Thanks for the review.
