Amaranthine Voyage: Legacy of the Guardians Collector's Edition 3.7 5 18 18
started to give it 4 stars, but... Having played only the beta & demo at this point (can't afford to purchase at the moment, even w/ the sale), I started to rate this game 4 stars, as I haven't seen all of it yet; but if the quality of this game remains consistent throughout, it's definitely worthy of 5 stars to me, & I didn't want to short-change it (if I find I've been premature, I'll amend my rating in the forums). Long story short, I like everything about this game so far. I'm enjoying the storyline (there's already been an interesting twist), & both the HO scenes & mini-games have been highly enjoyable. The collectibles consist of a small metal device or sculpture which occurs in each scene & morphing objects in the HO scenes, which is plenty for me; having too many collectibles to keep track of tends to become a burden to me, more so than a pleasure. The graphics are gorgeous, from the skyline of Seattle, to the night sky on Arden, to the bioluminescent flora on same. Unlike many games of late, I haven't found this one to be overwhelmed w/ cinematics, & you can move through the dialogue at your own pace, which is always my preference. I've harped on this dev a lot recently to "re-up their game", & am pleased to say this is the most well-rounded effort I've seen from them in a while; hopefully, this is a portent of things to come. This will be a definite buy for me, & an "email of appreciation" to the devs, as well...I owe them that. :) October 15, 2016
Based on the Demo Only + Another Hour. I found this game rather compelling and bought it straight after the demo finished. The scenery is interesting, I can't remember the music which for me means it wasn't awful and the voices are good, some with lip synch and others not. There's quite a bit of dialogue to read which I like but if you don't, you can click on it to carry on playing. There is a Medallion which you have to charge with energy orbs, and there isn't a Helper. Map - you receive it fairly shortly into the game. HOS - I enjoyed these, especially the one where you had to interact with two different scenes. Puzzles - I loved them and found them relatively easy to complete except one which took me a bit longer to work out. 16 Achievements - one of which is to complete a HOS scene using the Bubble Popper only. 38 Collectibles - as per usual they are all the same, the only way I can describe it is a Golden Statue but I cannot guess at what it resembles. Extras: 13 HOS and 18 Puzzles to replay. Souvenir Room Bubble Popper game only accessible after you have played the bonus chapter. October 15, 2016
Family Secrets reveal a legacy I have enjoyed playing this series and was thrilled to see another chapter available. This sequal does not disappoint and the legacy is continued with a charming storyline, beautiful scenary and challenging puzzles. October 15, 2016
I COULD HAVE A LOT OF FUN IF I HAD ONE OF THOSE SPEARS AT HOME You might want to think twice before you pick up what you think of as a family relic or heirloom because you might never know where it will take you and in this case you could just happen to be whisked away through a portal to another world. As usual, at least in the more recent Amaranthine Voyage games, you play as Eve Glover so it really shouldn?t be a surprise when you encounter an alien capsule in your swimming pool. Almost immediately you step through a portal and into the world of Arden where you find out more about your recently departed grandfather than you ever thought possible. This developer has almost always presented games with excellent and crisp graphics but unfortunately Legacy of the Guardians isn?t one of them. The graphics seem to be a mixed bag of the original old style with lots of mistiness and then at other times we have crisp and clear scenes. It is my feeling that perhaps the developer was trying to emulate the graphics of the first two games in the series. Aside from the graphics we have voiceovers that are also not too great. Some are very stilted and I felt like I wanted to poke the speaker to wake him up so he could move on. Where this game becomes excellent, at least for me, is with the puzzles that are quite different than usual and challenging. I have loved spending time solving them. The HOP scenes were varied, with some being interactive and multi-level. There is one HOP that is very different as we move from one room to another to find the objects we need. Even with graphics that are not quite up to par, the puzzles and HOP scenes override that shortcoming. I started playing the game yesterday and am still not quite finished. The CE version does offer a few extras with collectibles that are sometimes difficult to find. Unfortunately, even though I did purchase the game, the extras are probably not worth the extra cost. Where the CE always becomes a great value is with the in-game Strategy Guide that can be very helpful if one is stuck and needs a bit of help. The Amaranthine Voyage series is one that for me has been either hit or miss. The original early games in the series were very good but some of the later games have really not been that great. Of the newer games, Winter Neverending is one of the better ones. Although the game is not stellar in some respects, the puzzles and HOP scenes make it one that I believe deserves a high rating. Even though I purchased the game, please try the demo to see if you will find that Legacy of the Guardians is one you will enjoy. October 16, 2016
Awesome!!!!! I have been playing Amaranthine Voyage since The Tree Of Life. This one, number seven just hit my favorite spot. The art work, animation, game play, story line, voice overs, and the music...O the music! It lent so much to the game. In my opinion, Eipix has outdone itself. Gonna be hard to beat this one, but if anyone can do it, Eipix can. I very highly recommend this game. October 22, 2016

Amaranthine Voyage: Legacy of the Guardians Collector's Edition Another great game in the series to play October 17, 2016
OPEN UP PORTALS TO NEW WORLDS IN YOUR GAMING UNIVERSE! OVERVIEW: Eve Glover, physicist extraordinaire, returns to save the universe in this 4-star game. Exploring the concept of multiple universes, this game is a nice blend between the worlds of fantasy and sci-fi. Being a sci-fi lover, this game beckons to me from the realm of time and space. However, be warned! it has some difficult puzzles which makes this game definitely not an easy breezy game. I like, but do not love this game and plan to purchase it as an SE. Despite the complicated and extremely long story (I think the author of this game should have written a book series instead), I feel the game is fairly well-constructed. However, I do feel the game script is poorly written. It has way too many details, characters, and bizarre concepts for a HOP game. I also wish there were more puzzles and HOP scenes. There is a great deal of back-and-forth movement in this game, which after some time, becomes a little tedious. With the lack of activities, I find the pace a little slow. There are some decent HOP scenes (including thankfully the omission of the EIPIX formula HOP scene) and excellent puzzles. There just needs to be more of them to keep up the pace in the game. HOP SCENES: There are only four HOP scenes in the demo. The HOP scenes include a multiple-step one with rebus clues and a list of items. There are two more lists of items to locate plus a silhouette scene as well. You have the option to play a bubble popper game in lieu of the HOP scene. PUZZLES: There are only three puzzles in the demo. There is a difficult moving tiles puzzle in which you must move ten gems into a grid. The segments of the grid point to their direction (clockwise or counterclockwise) and the movement is by 2?s. This is one of the more difficult puzzles I have played this year. I gave it a 4 which I don?t usually give any puzzle I review for BFG games. This is a puzzle one would play in an adventure game rather than a HOP game. The other two puzzles include a sliding tiles puzzle in which you must align like colored tokens into four different colored locations. This puzzle is also somewhat difficult. The remaining puzzle is relative easy. It is a physics puzzle in which you must click on energy orbs in a pinball effect to remove all other orbs. SPECTRAL MEDALLION PUZZLE: Every time you need to activate the medallion, you must play some type of puzzle. The first instance in the demo is a pipe puzzle connecting a star with a black hole. You play this three times and it does increase in difficulty. The second use of the medallion contains an easy matching puzzle. LEVELS: Easy, Medium, Hard, Custom Hints: 10 to 120 seconds Skips: 10 to 400 seconds EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game Spectral Medallion which you must charge with spheres to use it. 16 Achievements. Some with 3 segments. Collect 38 symbols 13 Morphing objects Replay 13 HOP scenes and 18 Puzzles 8 Wallpaper, 4 Concept Art, Music, Videos, Souvenir Room HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE HOP SCENES: Play a Bubble Popper game in lieu of the HOP scenes. A. Multiple step. (1) Rebus clues. (2) List of items. B. List of items to locate. C. Silhouette. Interactive. Locate items and then use them within various scenes. Rather novel to use multiple scenes. D. Multiple step. (1) List of items to locate (2) Silhouette items. PUZZLES: Puzzle Rating: (1) Extremely easy 2) Easy (3) A little difficult or time consuming (4) Moderately difficult (5) Difficult Spectral Medallion puzzles. To activate the medallion, you will need to play some type of puzzle. It is used twice in the demo and there is a different puzzle for each instance it is used. The first puzzle is a pipe puzzle. Establish an unbroken connection between a star and a black hole by connecting links together. 3X. Increases in difficulty. The second one is a matching puzzle. Rating: 2 A. Moving tiles puzzle. Move 10 gems into empty spaces by 2?s s by pressing on green squares which contain arrows pointing to their direction. Rating: 4 Very tricky B. Sliding tiles puzzle. Move and align each of like colored tokens into a like colored area. Do this for four different colored locations. Rating: 3 C. Pinball puzzle. Click on energy orbs so, as a pinball machine, remove all the other orbs. Rating: 2 October 15, 2016
Another world to explore! Hello, friends! I believe we have #7 in this series. As usual, I review mostly on the game play and leave the story line to others who do a much better job than I. Graphics in this addition are quite well done, with no blurry scenes when going in or out of close ups. Game play is excellent, no problems during the demo and the scene fit my large screen quite well. For the most part, the color is very nice. The only color I didn't care for is all the pink and purples in the other world...it's just too much on the eyes. Yes, we travel to another world to help save us all, so beware, there are very bright lights when traveling. Voices are very well done and are age and character appropriate. Music is rather soothing for a change. There is more music than sound FX, but what we have it well done. HOPs are a combination of interactive lists, silhouettes, and riddle type. Items are not hard to find and scenes are pretty clear. You do need to find a morphing item in each HOP, which is not as easy as you may think. If you don't care for the HOPs, there is a bubble shoot game to play. Puzzles aren't bad either. Some have a bit of challenge and take some time and thought to complete, but I haven't seen anything new. Hint system is very helpful and it does transport to longer locations. This is very helpful, since you visit the same locations multiple times. We spend the bulk of our time in the other world, but there is a reason for it. I didn't care much for the jump map, it was just to bland. I prefer areas with not only the location name, but an actual picture of it as well. Easier to identify where I'm going, but that's just me. Collectibles were somewhat disappointing. We have 38 symbols that reminded me of gold statuettes. They are fairly large in most cases, but can be a little difficult to see when blended into the background. They really aren't hard to find. I much prefer more collectibles in a game, which makes it more CE worthy to me, and a little more challenging. It is fun to interact directly with objects needed, e.g., eat the fruit to get the bowl, but that doesn't happen much at all. I do like this series, and even though this story is predictable and anything but new, I do want to play it out and see where it goes. As I said, not a challenging game, but interesting. I think all levels of players will enjoy this one. Yes, I am adding it to my collection. As always, try it for yourself and see what you think. We all have different tastes in games and you may not care for this one at all. Thanks for the reviews. October 17, 2016
-To End War Free Will Must First Be Eradicated- Grandpa always had the wildest imagination when he told stories of another world on a distant planet. Eve always loved his stories, but she's quickly discovering that these stories were real, when a sphere arrives one evening at the house her Grandfather heired to her. (which happens to overlook the space needle, remember the MIB movie) The people of Arden have come to Earth, to ask for the Guardian's help, which by default, is now Eve Glover! The Realm of Arden have been imprisoned by a device they created to stop the vicious cycle of War that has plagued them for eternity. The device or Chalice, was designed to stop wars using logic, and it determined that the people's free will was responsible. In a strange twist of fate, the Chalice began to either eliminate or imprison the people of Arden using their very own guards! Amaranthine Voyage was a spectacular game for the first couple of episodes, because the storylines were fresh and new. Lately, it just seems that they are rehashing stories from all the other games, slapping a new title on it and presenting it as new. This isn't really even a game, it's an interactive movie, which sounds cool, but it's just kind of boring. It took about 40 minutes before the first HOP or Mini Game was presented! The entire beginning of the demo either has you doing mundane tasks (pick up all the library books) watch cutscenes or hear a ton of dialog. This would all be okay if the storyline was different but it's not, it's been way overdone, flipped and charred some more! As a CE, really the only "extra" you get are 38 not so hidden Signs which look like a galactic trophy to me. Eventually you will be equipped with Grandpa's trusty Spectral Medallion which allows you to activate portals that have already been established, after you play a Mini Game of course which is a variation of "pipes" where you rotate honeycomb shaped tiles with different pipe connections, to connect a star to each of the black holes. The Medallion can ironically act as a weapon as well, as personal protection against the guards by matching pairs of shapes located around the medallion. Everything eventually needs charged (I guess other advanced planets haven't discovered an unlimited source of power either) and so does the medallion, by holding it over charging spheres that just happen to be available when you need them the most. The Mini Games lack imagination, most of which are Interactive list finds, some of which pan the scene to offer one section at a time. The only one that was slightly interesting was an Interactive, Progressive Silhouetted Shape Game where you find an item that matches the Silhouetted Shape and use that item interactively in the scene to expose the next item, and there were two different scenes available to toggle between. There was also a Silhouetted Shape find that had pictures of two items for you to find the item that the two pictures combined would make such as a woman + a fish = mermaid. Each of the 13 Hidden Object Scenes have a Morphing Object to find, a feature I also dislike because I want the challenge of finding them in the game itself not the HOP. There is an alternative to the HOP which is a Bubble Shoot game. Normally I love Bubble Shoot games, but this game was pretty difficult to aim and the balls were difficult to see which color it is inside the shooter. The Mini Games were actually challenging and some were new which is the reason I gave this game 3 stars instead of 2. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Connect the star to each of the black holes by rotating the honeycomb tiles in a game similar to "pipes". 2) Place all 10 gems on separate tiles using directional arrows to move the emerald cubes which carry two gems each. Cubes drop the gems into empty spaces only. 3) Align each set of colored symbols, by rotating and moving to their matching symbols in each corner. 4) Select matching pairs located around the Spectral Medallion, to activate it's defense mechanism. This Collector's Edition has 16 Achievements to earn, (note:one achievement requires you to disable the tutorial so you'll have to enable the tutorial first, when you set up your profile and choose the difficulty mode) 9 Music Soundtracks, 12 replayable Videos, 18 replayable Mini Games, 13 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 13 replayable Bubble Shoot games, 8 Concept Art pictures, 8 Wallpapers, 38 Collectible Signs, a Souvenir Room to revisit scenes and collect souvenir.s, a built in Strategy Guide, and a Bonus Chapter. This game is a take it or leave it kind of game. It's not a bad game, it's just a middle of the road game, especially when comparing it to some of the earlier AV games. Some will inevitably love this game and others will loathe it, IMHO, waiting for the Standard version is probably the better route to go. October 15, 2016
