CAN YOU FIND THE CURE AND SOLVE THE MYSTERY? In Chimeras: Mortal Medicine you play the game as a detective who has been asked to investigate a mysterious illness that has fallen upon the children in the town of Ronas. The town?s doctor created a vaccine that took the life of his daughter and now he is accused of murder and faces the executioner?s axe. It seems the illness started when a dark stranger visited Ronas but he has disappeared. Now detective, you must not only find the stranger who might be the cause of the epidemic, but you must prove the innocence of the doctor as well. Chimeras Mortal Medicine is game number four in the series. I absolutely loved the first game Tune of Revenge and had high hopes for the subsequent games but some were a disappointment. At least for me, Mortal Medicine is better than the previous game in the series and although it is still early in the game, I am enjoying the HOPS, puzzles and storyline. The game offers four modes of gameplay ? Casual, Detective, Super, and Custom. Hints and skips can be set in a range of 15 ? 90 seconds. I would suggest turning off the sparkles in the custom mode because more seasoned gamers will hate having huge areas of sparkles all over each screen. Your tools include an integrated transporter type map that is quite helpful. I find the HOPS to be enjoyable mainly because list types have always been my favorite. Although the HOPS are varied in type, I am not fond of the silhouette scenes. The puzzles, although on the easy side, are quite fun and I find them enjoyable. If you prefer the CE version of games Mortal Medicine has collectibles that include puzzle pieces, cards, and morphing objects to find throughout the game. The standard fare includes 16 wallpapers, 12 concept art, screensavers that will be created by the puzzle pieces, 5 music tracks, an album created by the cards, a secret room, bonus chapter, a 45 page strategy guide, and let?s not forget those achievements that are earned aw we play. All in all, Mortal Medicine offers a nice CE package. As I mentioned above, when the first Chimeras game Tune of Revenge was released it was an amazing game. I still remember the opening of the game and the tune that stuck in my mind for days after playing. Tune of Revenge is absolutely excellent and I highly recommend it to newer gamers who may not have tried it. So now here we are a few years after that first game and I wonder what has happened to the series with the subsequent games that could not compare to the original. Although Mortal Medicine is a high quality, five-star game, it still doesn?t have that extra spark of something that stands out. Even though it might not compare to Tune of Revenge, IMHO, it is much better than the past two games. I am enjoying the gameplay and the HOPS that pop up along the way. I also like it that sometimes I have to do something that will unlock the HOP scenes before they can be played. Mortal Medicine was an instant buy for me but I do recommend that you try the demo to see if you will enjoy the game. November 10, 2016
Chimeras Will Gitcha If Ya Don't Watch Out A lovely take in an unusual series. Quite a bit of to and fro in this one but the game mechanics were flawless and the map was very useful. What stuck out were the vivid colorations and the interior scenes. Pros: the art, which we have come to expect from this developer. One wants to sit down in one of the chairs next to a cozy fire and read one of the books that abound. It's my kind of place. Immersive music that was in places quite beautiful. Certain of the puzzles were just tough enough to be entertaining without overwhelming new players. Very nice balance there. Hybrid HO scenes that were a delight. And yes, the plot was a real mystery if not a terribly difficult one. Well done! Extra Pros: the bonus game was nearly a game in itself in length and plot. This one earned its CE status! Cons: not much. Voice acting adequate, little girl in the bonus game was a frequency-pushed woman - wish they'd stop doing that. Male protagonist was quite convincing if a little too calm for a fellow who'd just killed someone near to him. No more spoilers, I promise. Overall: A four-and-a-half star game kicked up to five star status by excellent value in the bonus game. November 22, 2016
A Fun Mystery Game I tried it before I bought it, played it for 2 min, I decided to buy it because I was beginning to enjoy the game, I love collecting collectable, the puzzles were a bit challenging for me, the story line was wonderful,, it was so good I cried at the end, this was one game I didn't want to end. The reason why I love this game so much, I felt like I was playing in a movie. For me there was not one thing I didn't like November 13, 2016
Everything I like in a game Very enjoyable. Everything I like in a game. Plenty of things you have to be on the alert to catch. Puzzles just hard enough with good instructions for the most part. Excellent visual and sound quality. Even enjoyed the storyline. Also like that it was fast moving and not just constantly moving you from site to site instead of having the action where the items were located being used on the site they were found on. It becomes obvious that this is nothing more than a way to make the game seem longer than it really is. November 28, 2016
A MURDER MYSTERY WHICH HAS ADDS A ?DOSE? OF SUSPENSE 5 CHAPTERS PLUS A BONUS CHAPTER - REVIEW BASED ON THE DEMO. OVERVIEW: The Chimeras are back! You, as a detective, are off to the city of Ronas to investigate an epidemic affecting the children of the town in this 5-star game. It appears that a doctor did create an antidote; however, a trial test on his own daughter resulted in her death. As he faces charges of murder, the doctor pleads his innocence. It appears there may be some dark sinister forces at work behind the scenes. This is a beautifully illustrated game by Elephant. The story is well-written and keeps you engaged in this whodunit. This is an easy game which is fun to play, lacking any challenging puzzles. This is a great game for beginner or intermediate players. Surprisingly, I found the pace decent. There are more HOP scenes than puzzles. You collect puzzle pieces to create screensavers. You also collect cards and morphing umbrellas. All the collectibles are easy to locate within the scenes. This game will be a pass for me. I like games which are a little more challenging. However, it is a well-crafted game for those who like easy breezy games. HOP SCENES: I feel this was the weakest part of the game. There are only three in the demo and they lack creativity. The demo includes two lists of items and a silhouette scene. There is very little interactivity within these scenes. PUZZLES: There are ten puzzles in the demo. There is one puzzle which provides a casual and hard option. I wish Elephant would have provided more puzzles with this option. It is a switch puzzle in which you exchange the positions of red and blue gems. You are only allowed a certain number of moves to complete the puzzle. I would have purchased this game if the puzzles had an optional hard version for more of the puzzles. The other puzzles are all extremely easy. They include two rotating tiles puzzles to restore pictures. There are two sequence puzzles following a pattern given to you. There are two switch puzzles; in one you switch books and in the other you switch tokens. There is a slider puzzle to restore a picture. There is a multiple-step assembly puzzle in which you restore a cube by placing two halves together. Afterward, place the cubes into rows with like cubes. LEVELS: Casual, Detective, Super, Custom Hints and Skips: 15 to 90 seconds EXTRAS: Map is provided as you play the game 19 Achievements from what I could count Collect 12 Cards Collect 36 puzzle pieces 29 Morphing umbrellas 16 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art, 3 Screensavers (Jigsaw puzzle), Music, Secret Room HERE ARE THE DETAILS (SPOILERS) FOR THOSE WANT MORE INFORMATION ON THE HOP SCENES AND PUZZLES IN SEQUENCE HOP SCENES: A. Rating: 2 November 10, 2016
So nice I've enjoyed every single moment of this game: the HOG and puzzles are varied, there are three kind of collectibles (and if you want you can backtrack to find them all), the lenght is good, especially the one of the bonus content, the graphics are very well done. November 26, 2016
CLASSIC ELEPHANT GAME STYLE! YAY! Elephant Game Developers heard gamers' requests for their return to classic gaming style and they did so in a big Elephant way through Chimeras: Mortal Medicine. It's a somber atmosphere indeed with an epidemic affecting small children. You, Detective, have been hired to help catch the Healing Doctor who is blamed for the epidemic. Ah! Let no good deed go unpunished. Local officials want this healer found in order to do all acts of punishment against him. Yikes! Gamers go right into a hidden object scene and then puzzles. Hurray! There's no stopping the Elephant now. Collectibles are puzzles pieces, morphing objects that are umbrellas and cards. There are 4 modes of which I always use Custom Mode. Interactive map that zooms gamers to working sites, Strategy Guide--which, for me anyway, helps finding Collectibles where needed. Music is great as well. Your demo will cover the first two chapters so enough, back to the game. Enjoy! -Mama Mia- November 10, 2016
LOVE this game! Everything about playing this game works for me. Not too difficult but not ridiculously easy. I'm ready to play the WHOLE game for the second time in a few minutes!! November 20, 2016
MY FIRST TIME PLAYING THE 'CHIMERA' SERIES, BUT IT WON'T BE MY LAST! BASED ON 50 MINS OF DEMO GAMEPLAY ONLY This is my first time playing a 'Chimeras' game, and it makes me glad that I decided to try it. As I've always previously stated, I don't buy CE games very often, but this game is a definite buy for me. Here are my pros & cons: PROS 1. This game grabs your attention from the very first cutscene. I sometimes don't necessarily pay too much attention to the music, but I'd like to know the name of the song/music that is played during the beginning of this game. It is a beautiful melody. I also think that this developer (Elephant) has outdone themselves. While you are choosing your options, player name, etc. it shows a little girl lying there with her doll or teddy bear (I can't remember which one). Watch her eyes as you make your choices. This little addition to the beginning just adds a little flare, IMO. 2. The graphics are superb. Even the cutscenes are clearer than what is usually displayed. The colors are crisp, clean, and fit each scene perfectly. 3. The storyline is an essential part of EVERY game, and this storyline is interesting and makes you want to play to find out what happens. 4. The HOS's are interesting and fun. They are a mixture of silhouettes, and finding the items (this is only based on 3 HOS's that I encountered in the 50 mins of gameplay only). 5. Mini-games/puzzles were exciting and fun. This has never been an area that I necessarily enjoy, but I have to say in this particular game, I have enjoyed every single one of them, and never even skipped one. 6. An easy, interactive map that you get at the beginning of the game. 7. Some of the collections that you will encounter are puzzle pieces, umbrellas, and cards. Of course, you have your typical achievements, wallpapers, etc, but I will let other reviewers give you that information. 8. The 'chimeras' looked so realistic and scary. CONS I could not find one single thing that I found to be negative. As always, please try the demo. Enjoy :) November 10, 2016
I am very satisfied with this product! I don't usually write game reviews and, trust me, I've got a lot of Big Fish Hidden Object games! This one is BIG FUN! November 11, 2016
