Myths of the World: The Black Sun Collector's Edition is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I Liked It More Than I Expected : ) I liked this game as I play to relax and if a game is interesting with good graphics and an interesting subject matter I'm generally going to like it. The story-line was interesting : Graphics very good : Music okay (made me sleepy) Hidden object scenes were sometimes challenging and I enjoyed them (because this is why I love my HOGS :) Almost all of the mini-games were doable and made a nice little break in gameplay concentration Bonus chapter was a good ending :) All in all I am giving this one a 5 out of a possible 5 On my personal enjoyability scale :) Played on desktop PC running Windows 10 with no problems. P.S. YIPPIE, I just Morphed to a Clownfish :) !!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MYTHS OF THE WORLD 11 ARE FANS TIRED OF THIS SERIES? I have always enjoyed Myths of the World. This edition didn't seem to entice enough fans during demo play to warrant a rating higher than 3 stars and it deserves a better overall rating. In this edition you are cast in the role of Commander Hirt (you play a male in this one). Seems the Baron of Lunden has a thing for petrifying people to stone and it's up to you to get to the bottom of this unusual story of kidnapping and deceit. Your father has been turned to stone for blindly following the Baron's orders, but what exactly is the Baron's intent? Enter THE BASILISK, a legendary reptile reputed to be king of serpents and said to have the power to cause death with a single glance. Basilisk are sworn protectors of the city of Lunden, there's only one problem. A Black Sun Eclipse is coming in two days and the eclipse will burn this magical protector to it's death. You don't have much time to solve this conundrum (yet you will spend at least 8 hours of game play trying) before Lunden is completely destroyed. During the in depth storyline you discover Ottilia, the Baron's sister. She has a secret that you learn from the town healer; Lisa Ponte. The Basilisk by night is human by day, yes HUMAN. Ottilia falls in love with the Basilisk and is warned by Felicia, (a powerful sorceress of sorts) of the impending doom of the Black Sun Eclipse. Felicia also has the power to bring a Basilisk back to life! She tells Ottilia a year before the upcoming eclipse to find a hiding place, watch out and WARN YOUR HUSBAND about your crazy brother The Baron. It's then you learn that Ottilia had a daughter named Jana who was kidnapped by her brother and now you must save the daughter Jana. The story is complex and there is an unbelievable twist regarding Ottilia's brother The Baron and Jana. You'll have to play the ENTIRE adventure to figure this one out and it will blow your mind when you reach the conclusion of the intricate and obscure adventure..... In the bonus adventure you get to play the role of Felicia in a quest for the Edelweiss extract which can cure disease of massive outbreaks affecting the entire town of Lunden. I really enjoyed this adventure and it was extremely difficult to solve. That is why I have given this extraordinary HOPA the five***** star rating. Cheers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black Sun - Blood Moon Must admit, I am „biased“. Years ago I was on a boat trip on the Lake of Geneva. We were opposite the Chillon Castle when a total lunar eclipse occurred. I will never forget this „blood moon“; the scenery in the game brought back memories and the similarity of Chillon Castle to the one in Lunden is quite remarkable. When I started the game I was convinced we play a male character this time, a female commander in these days? In a country where women were given the right to vote only in the second half of the last century? Loved this emancipating twist. I enjoyed the story a lot, loved the references to Switzerland, especially the one about Swiss cheese. No, we don’t need a piece of cheese to feed a mouse. I also like the similarity of the uniforms to the one which is still worn by members of the Pontifical Swiss Guard. By the way, only men ;) can join this guard. Gameplay was smooth, although there were a few hiccups, as sparkles on HO-scenes which I had switched off, or the head of the healer still floating over the cauldron, even after she had left the hut. Or a morph indicated for a HO scene even if there is none. But this didn’t harm my enjoyment. I appreciated having the option to switch off pop-up notifications for achievements and objects. Really hope this will be a standard feature from now on. HO’s were extremely well done and offered a lot of variety. The search for jumbled items in the fountain was fabulous and so funny, so where those where you have to find „the logic behind it.“ The „wake up“ call for the snoozing guardian made me laugh out loud. Puzzles were really enjoyable as well. The Bonus Section held a few surprises, very interesting achievements as „Nose Invader“. ?!?!? I laughed out loud when I got it. The souvenir room offered a bit more challenge, although the loading time between scenes was a bit longish. The Bonus Game, a prequel to the main story, was well done. I had a super time playing this game. Wish I could give 4.5 stars, but since I loved it so much, 5, but one thumb down for the hiccups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent game Did the beta test on this just a while ago and so glad they got it out so quick. This game is very fun to play and keeps you busy. Some new games to play and plenty to think about. Interesting story line and beautifully done, both sound and looks. This game is a winner in my book. Please do the try me and see if it is for you too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I enjoyed this.... I felt like this games was a lot of fun I totally enjoyed the mini games. I felt the story line was very clever. I loved the twist on the ending. I am sorry this game has been rated so harsh and maybe it's because I am an intermediate player but I am very glad I bought this game. Thank you Big Fish I loved it...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Pumpkin Is Mightier Than You May Think!! I love the nickname Pumpkin... I just finished the demo and was not very impressed. The game pace was very slow, so much so that I was becoming bored and a little sleepy. The only bit of excitement was the confrontation with the lizard creature. He broke into the tavern owned by Pumpkin's father and petrified him. He was wounded by Pumpkin's crossbow before his rapid exit, so the game from that point will begin the search for the creature and find out what's going on and put an end to the terror. I feel really bad, being unable to provide you with any useful information. But frankly there just wasn't any action to report. The few puzzles and HOGs I played were very good, interesting, uncomplicated. No need to skip. There was an alternative game available if you wanted to by-pass the HOGs, but I did not check it out. The graphics and colors were excellent and very appropriate for that particular time in history. I liked the costumes, the voices were very well matched to each character and all the characters were nicely done. Not sure about buying the game right now, only because I didn't experience enough in the trial to influence a decision. My other Myths of the World games were very entertaining, so maybe I should keep that in mind and trust that The Black Sun will be a winner as well. And will definitely read all the reviews as they come in, as I always depend heavily on them before making any decision to buy. I gave it 5 stars, after trusting the positive reviews I have read so far, and for the subject matter of the game. I will just have to have faith that my 5 star rating, in this case, is fair and accurate. Would hate to mislead anyone. God Bless....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This a buy for me Reviews are pretty well split on this one but this is a definite buy for me. I knew from the opening cut scene that I would like it and I haven't been disappointed. Now I'm not going to write a lengthy review telling you everything about the game as I have seen in some reviews, just enough to maybe peek your interest. The graphics are great and they have color which I like. I hate games where the only colors seem to be gray, black, bark blues and maybe silver. Those games are depressing and make me want to quit playing. This one has the right amount of color to make it a worthwhile game. The HO's are interesting and not difficult to the point of frustration and add to the overall satisfaction of the game. The puzzles and mini games are fairly easy and, again, add to the enjoyment. Story is typical 'monster attacks town and terrorizes people and only you can save it" scenario but not put forward in an amateurish manner. Very well thought out with everything you do leading to a satisfactory conclusion. I highly recommend this game and I will be buying this. Won't even wait for game credits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WHEN IS A LIZARD NOT A LIZARD It’s a big day for you Pumpkin as you’ve just returned home after your training as a member of Lunden’s Guard. You have been assigned a new post to investigate the disappearance of the town’s former commander and to serve as the temporary commander during his absence. Your father, a retired guardsman, is proud of your accomplishments and overjoyed to welcome you home. To celebrate your arrival he has a special gift for you but you must find it first by following the clues that he has left for you. While you are searching you hear noise and find that your father has been attacked by some sort of creature who is looking for someone. Your father refuses to say anything and you rush to save him but you are overcome when the creature destroys the stairs. After you free yourself from the rubble you find that your father has been turned to stone, and one of the happiest days of your life becomes a nightmare. Now you must seek a way to return your father to his former human state and learn who or what the creature was looking for when he attacked your father. The graphics are excellent as are the voice overs and sound package in the game. There is a custom setting available so that you can set up the game for the way you like to play I think that this developer offers one of the best custom settings available because the hint and skip settings include very acceptable time ranges that most of us prefer. Your tools include an interactive map that you find early in the game and the special gift from your father called the Protector that will help you when evil is near. The HOPS are interesting and done with some creative touches although nothing is really new. I realize that it is very difficult for developers to always come up with something new so what I look for are the scenes that are entertaining and keep me thinking. I believe that the developer has made great efforts to try to give us some well-designed HOPS that are a bit challenging as well as fun. Along with the HOPS there are some interesting puzzles that, while not too different from what we have seen before, contain some challenge. There were some easy puzzles but I did skip maybe two during the demo because I didn’t want to take the time to figure out exactly what to do. Each time we use the Protector we of course need to play a puzzle or two before it is ready to zap the enemy or perceived danger. I am not a fan of those where we drag a marble along a crooked path but they are not too difficult in The Black Sun. If you happen to prefer the CE version of a game, this one includes the usual suspects – find collectible lizards and morphing objects, achievements to earn, wallpapers, screensavers, artwork, videos, music, replay of HOPS and Puzzles, Souvenir Room, Skipping Stones, a Terrarium, Strategy Guide, and a bonus chapter. Myths of the World The Black Sun is a game worth playing if you can manage to get into it. I think in an effort to make the game seem more difficult than it really might be it starts off very slow and is filled with so many tedious and mundane tasks that I almost gave up. I say almost, but I am glad that I stuck it out because the game does become better by the time the demo ends. Of course I will say the same thing here that I said about the puzzles and that there might not be too much that it new because it is a HOPA game after all, and the premise is the same – find missing items to complete other items so we can move forward. Where The Black Sun becomes a very good game is with an interesting storyline that while similar has a different spin on the bad guy. By the time the demo time was coming to an end I was so into the storyline that it was a surprise. It seemed like it took me quite a while to get to the point but when I did, I didn’t want to quit so had to buy the game. I love HOPA games and have played almost every game released here at BFG in the past ten years and I still manage to find something to love about most of them. Of course, you might not be so easy to please as I am, so please try the demo to see if you might just find that you like the game a lot.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Commander of the Petrified Those under my command must have went into hiding. So just how did the Basilisk change into a monster during the day? HO;s were just ok, puzzles not much better, but improved as game went on. The use of inventory was really good and Character decent enough. Story line was good till the Basilisk killed during broad day light. There are some Morphing objects a ok jump map, and some critter action. Goes on the bottom of my to buy list for a sale or rainy day.
