Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tower Defense meets puzzle approach to the genre I didn't play the first one but tried this and knew I was sold on the concept. Even if you don't like or never played tower defense you might like the strategy, planning, and puzzle aspect on where to spend your currency. Quick pros and cons below to keep this review concept and without any opinions: Pros: + Graphics are quite nice with widescreen HD format + Towers use the rock, paper, scissors approach to enemies + 3 difficulties of play to chose from + Simple to learn but a good challenge to master a level + Plenty of unlocks at the forge to increase trap damage %, unlocks to get more gold from enemy kills, more starting gold unlocks at beginning of each level. All these can be achieved by earning crystals when you complete new levels. Cons: - Some might say this game is a bit of grind but if you like this type of game you could still like it. Just try the demo and see if it is for you. - From my short play thru of about 6 levels there seems to be only 4 traps that are available so variety of traps could potentially be a con for some. I'm not sure yet if more varying traps are unlocked mid to end game. - Even on easy until you get the flow of the game get 3 stars can be a bit difficult for casual players. Not a deal breaker for me but did notice a slightly higher difficulty for this game. Go into this as a simple but yet fun Tower Defense game and you might love it. Just keep in mind this don't have the depth of other games like this in the genre like Defense Grid series or Kingdom Rush Frontiers. Give this game a shot. It might be a hidden a gem you are looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I THINK WORKED UP A LITTLE BIT OF SWEAT PLAYING THIS GAME! I love a good Tower Defense game, but I wasn't all that thrilled with the first game of this series, Masters of Defense. Arcane Power, however, is an awesome TD game, that has just the right amount of challenge, and fairly decent graphics. You can play in Easy, Normal or Expert modes of difficulty, I played this demo in the Normal mode, and for me, it offered a nice strategic challenge. Like all Tower Defense games, the object is to build weapons on existing towers to fight the incoming waves of enemy attack, in this game, it is Ore that you are protecting, not a castle. You begin the wave with 25 Lives and can earn Bronze, Silver or Gold status, depending on the amount of lives you have remaining after the entire battle which consists of several waves. You can replay the battle as often as you want, to get a better score, but you can only replay the entire battle, not just a wave or two. To build a weapon, you need to click on a strategically placed Tower first. A pop up will appear with different kinds of available defense weapons, as well as the cost of these weapons. Once you have earned enough money to purchase them, (the weapon cost changes to white from red) you can then click on the weapon of your choice to instantly receive that weapon. You will earn money from the enemies, each time they expire, and you will earn crystal ore that allows you to purchase upgrades before the next battle begins. The Forge is the shop, and you can purchase upgrades to each new weapon offered, to make the weapon cheaper or do more damage. Each weapon can be upgraded up to 6 times, because the upgrades work as percentages such as 10% less expensive or 20% more damage. You can also purchase percentages to give you more starting level amounts, more lives, or even a faster recharging wait for weapons such as the Rockfall, a weapon you can click on to make it rain down on enemies that may have slipped through your Tower Defenses. Each Weapon is designed to wreak havoc upon the different types of Enemy. I absolutely found myself addicted to the gameplay in Gnumz 2. I love to replay the levels whenever an enemy or two slips past the weapons and steals the ore. Each time you restart a level, you know where you have to tweak the defenses, and sometimes you have to tweak it several times to get it right. There is a Fast forward button that will speed up the battle waves, so it doesn't take so long. Give this game a try, its definitely worthy of a coupon, enjoy!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little dissapointed I loved the first game and was so excited when this came out, don't get me wrong its still a good game but I personally found it very similar to the first game with little improvement and for me that is what has let it down. I must stress though this is just my opinion

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cute, But Not Serious This is indeed a cute game, good graphics and fun gameplay. But can't really take it too seriously because the cons are pretty strong for TD lovers: There's no in-game book/aid to tell you what elements enemies are, so if you don't remember when they are introduced, you have to guess what traps will kill them. There's no ability to cursor over enemies to get that information, either. There's also no aid for traps, so you can't tell the higher level upgrades for traps until you level them up and then are given the option. Even then, you must remember what each trap does. If you are able to remember all the details of the enemies and the traps from one play time to the next, then you'll enjoy this game. Otherwise, you might find this frustrating. If you just play the hour demo, you might not run into this problem.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I couldn't get into this game !!! I really tried to get into this game and it simply did not happen...I used the tutorial to understand the concept of the game play...and also to understand the story behind it all!!! First of all the tutorial was very limited...I think the developers could have put just a tiny wee bit more information about game play...that would have helped a whole bunch !!! The fun was taken right out of this game after playing for 30 minutes...I struggled to understand it all !!! This could have been a super great game, in my opinion, because it was different than most strategy games !!! Some of you might enjoy this type of a game...it just wasn't my cup of tea !!!
