Rated 5 out of 5 by from I found 80 Owls and I enjoyed finding every one of them. I Love this game. It just about ties for my favorite. I bought 6 new games Mother's Day weekend and this is the one I wanted to try the most. So glad I bought before I tried it. 5 Chapters + Bonus Chapter + Hidden Chapter. The Hidden Chapter is Great. Note: Up to 3 owls per scene. The ribbon will tell you if you have found all of them if you click on it. I restarted 3 times to get all my owls but I only went as far as 3 scenes and restarted. 2 places no owls. The scenes are just beautiful and colorful. Color is the spice of life. I saw a lot of flowers I recognized: Snow Drops, Crocus, Primroses, Pansies, Bleeding Hearts, Siberia Iris and Roses. I loved the puzzles and I don't like a lot in most games. This Game is for Fun Lovers. Not for the average puzzle lover. Note: Adults can play just for fun and don't let anyone tell you, you can't. This game is mystical and Folk lore. Siberia 1912. There is a wonderful Hidden Object game that would of been more fun for me if it was straight up and not on a angle. I like my hidden objects traditional lists and I don't need anything new. Why mess with a good thing. But the hidden chapter had something new that I just love. Big Fish has so many great, fun games.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hey! This is good I almost didn't try this game because of some of the negative reviews. But I've been looking for a game that would satisfy my need for beautiful scenery, and this game delivers. Add collectibles, varied puzzles, and an interesting story line and I'm hooked. Thank you developers!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gorgeous! A Treasure I just finished playing the CE version of this Reflections of Life...' and I have to say it is my favorite game this year! Based on the culture of the Bulgarians, Macedonians, Russians, and Serbians it is colorful and very well drawn. A great thing they did was make several puzzles use the Cyrillic alphabet, the ones we usually see when Russian is posted anywhere. Absolutely fascinating and thinking outside the box. The story line is harsh, like many from this part of the world where life has been harsh, especially in Siberia where this story is set. But it also reveals a colorful and creative people. I absolutely loved all the designs and the contrast between the old beliefs using totems and animal spirits (very similar to some of the American Indian art) and beautiful Eastern European designs. No modern american products stuck in the middle of HOG's. Lovely hand carved items, woven fabrics with colorful and unique designs. There are also 80 owls to find, and they were NOT easy! But that was the only in-game distraction: all the other things to find were part of the game. I said the puzzles were medium, but there were a couple that were really challenging, arranging shapes (rather like Pentominos) using very faintly drawn picture hints that took me quite a while. . But for the rest of this is an amazing, consistent and intriguing game, with lots to be learned about another culture. I highly recommend this game to all intermediates and fans of different cultures, art and storytelling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyed I almost didn't even play the demo because of the previous reviews, but I did, and I was hooked from the beginning. I really enjoyed the game. There were some puzzles that I didn't like so I skipped them. The skip and hint buttons were pretty fast to reload. I enjoyed the storyline and the graphics. I really liked that the game had a map; that is always a huge factor for me in a game. I recommend this game highly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice, Easy, relaxing game I understand the negative reviews, this is one of those games you either love or hate. It is not ground breaking, starts with a coach accident and has you fighting an evil spirit who was wronged in life and now wants revenge. However it is a good game that make you think but not too hard! It is not difficult, the story is fine, visuals are excellent the owls are the most challenging part. Only complaint is that the game tells you there are 3 owls at one point, but the guide only shows 2 so I missed a quite difficult to see one after much scrutinizing of the scene thinking maybe the guide was right. I could however go back and get it later and play an additional game. Played full game and bonus, I see myself playing again. Overall a nice game. Good job everyone!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 3½✭...engaging story + relaxing gameplay + beautiful production = great rainy day game Review based on: full demo Overall rating: ✭✭✭½ What my rating means: It’s a good rainy day game; easy gameplay, but good story. Reflections of Life is another series that has had its ups and downs. Equilibrium is the best episode, since it offered quite a bit of original gameplay and a unique storyline. Dark Architect is a close second. The rest...not so much. As for Hearts Taken, I must have played a different demo from other reviewers, because mine had six HO scenes and ten puzzles, the graphics were clear and realistic, gameplay was intuitive, and the storyline was compelling. Yes, it's a variation on the overused "person gone missing" theme, but presented in the context of an unfamiliar myth and culture. That adds quite a bit to the interest in terms of both the story itself and the graphics. Each scene included 1-3 collectible owls, with one being a morphing object. A slide-in banner let you know the total for the scene as well as how many you'd found. If you returned to a scene after an event changed it, there were additional owls to find there...a nice touch. The HO scenes were mostly interactive lists, but less insulting than other devs' scenes since most didn’t include gigantic objects in plain view. The full-sized scenes actually took a few minutes to complete, which isn't as good as the HO scenes of yesteryear, but it's a huge improvement over the devs who habitually get five stars. The ten puzzles during the demo came in four flavors: jigsaws, matching, pattern recognition, and logic. I’d like to see fewer jigsaw and matching puzzles—none, actually—because these are games for adults. But, again, it was an improvement over the usual Simon Says, Towers of Hanoi, and other puzzles that are reused ad nauseum. Jigsaw Puzzles: • From the pieces, assemble the six torn cards. • Choose the correct symbol fragments to complete the central inscription. • Place the given rope fragments correctly to make a long rope. Matching Puzzles: • Match the item cards to the costumed dolls. • Walk safely through the magical swamp by matching pairs of unsafe plants. Pattern Recognition Puzzles: • Examine each of the six cards for symbols, then press the corresponding stones in order. • Match the pattern of beads to the given image by swapping columns of beads. Logic Puzzles: • Swap the accessories to match them to the figurines. Some accessories are hidden and can only be revealed once a figurine’s exterior has been completed. • Move the token along the correct path by following the visual clues. • Place the directional arrows in the correct places by deciphering the logic puzzle. The production was high quality, characterized by beautiful scenery with lots of color, detail, and texture, along with lifelike characters. The music offered a lot of variety. “Echoes in the Woods” is a percussive, ambient soundscape, while “Flowers in Bloom” has ethereal wordless singing, strings, and recorder. “Spring” sounds like a traditional folk dance, and “Twisting Path” is a majestic, full orchestra plus sound effects. Voiceovers were mostly professional with the exception of exclamations, which were badly acted. Extras included the bonus chapter plus a hidden chapter, the aforementioned collectible owls, performance achievements, strategy guide, replayable HO scenes and puzzles, wallpapers, soundtracks, movies, and concept art. I'm purchasing this even though I've rated it below four stars, because the storyline is intriguing, the production is gorgeous, and, while the gameplay was easy, it wasn't annoying. That adds up to a great rainy day game, and it chances to be raining in New England.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Some more reflection should be done by reviewers (opinion) I purchased this game and am enjoying it. Don't know why its rating is so low. The game has different types of interactive puzzles, and they are varied. Graphics are good; lip movements are in sync, pretty much. Am looking forward to continue playing. Occasionally, you'll get a postcard object to place where it belongs in the scene; found this to be fun.
