Dark Realm: Guardian of Flames Collector's Edition is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from An Excellent Dark Realm Game! This game got me absorbed in the storyline right from the start. The story has just enough slight twists to keep you into the game. The graphics were crisp and accented the story. There isn't anything to say that I found annoying. Believe me, I can be picky. lol I really enjoyed this fantastic game. I feel it is one of the best released this year. As always please try the demo and I bet you too will have to have this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hope this isn't the end of a beautiful series The minute I started playing this game it was hard for me to stop because I personally love this series and I hope it continues after this because there are so many unanswered questions and cliffhangers from previous games and the series and in my own perspective evil never dies. I really hope that there will be another Dark Realm game even if Valera isn't the main character then it would be fun to see the next generation since it would answer a lot of questions that I have in my head about this series and its characters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dark Realm Series is Awesome I have purchased nearly all of the games in the Dark Realm series. I have had so much fun playing each and every one of them. Just by playing the demo I see that this one is no disappointment. I can hardly wait to purchase it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To realize how good this game is, just try any of the others! I really wonder at myself why do I bother to buy games by any other developers, but Mad Head. Almost every time I am tempted by other games and series (with very few exceptions) I feel cheated. Yes, by all means, some of the puzzles have been recycled, some objects in HOP migrate from game to game, and sometimes it feels that this developer as well as the others ran out if ideas. But thees feelings last no longer than I try some other games. It is just like changing a Lamborghini for a Ford. Yep, I might not like the color, but the overall quality is simply exceptional. I am sure that you have read the other reviews as to plus and minuses of the game, but this is my overall feeling. So even if you are not a great fan of fantasy games, at least give it a try. O, and better start with the first one: The Queen of Flames. Absolutely worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Full game and Bonus I liked the game. I liked being a dragon. The puzzle pieces could be quite challenging, I didn't think it was too easy or too hard of a game, had to think a bit. Had some nice new games and not your average HOPS. Great job to the team! It was a great continuation in the series. My only complaint is in the achievements, there is no way of getting 10 items in 10 seconds. The HOPS are very well done, complicated and varied. How can you get 10 in 10? Thank you, great job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vae Victis Be careful there is no mercy when the dark lord Azomod gets you. Queen Valera, the last Firewielder, is fighting with her Aunt and other allies against the dark creature. Breaching a strong seal between the Dark realm and your world, you have to defeat him before he takes over. Despite being the old story good against evil , this game is very entertaining. The story is well done , voices , sounds, music, matches the scenes. The art work is beautiful and colours stunning. You can choose from 5 challenge levels, collect puzzle pieces during the game and morphing objects in the HOS's. Think it is a beautiful game for everyone. I played parts of the trial and bought it straight away. Hope you have as much fun as I had.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of Dark Realm Valera, the Queen of Flames, with whom this series began, is back and needs all her fellow rulers to assist her in the fight against the Dark Lord. He broke free from his prison and now threatens this fantasy world. As already said here, a fantasy ride with all features in order to overcome this evil power. Fascinating HO scenes, good minigames and puzzles and assistance by the one or other side character, as the genie or the blacksmith. Brilliant move in showing, you do not need a constant helper to assist the protagonist! All characters are well designed, the Dark Lord reminds me a bit of Darth Vada... (this is more a personal view). Story is of course not new and spins on the saga of the Dark Realm. The game was an instant buy for me, as I played the beta some time ago. Big Fish gave us the chance of a throwback to the very first game with the weekly special offer (Dark Realm: Queen of Flames), so we were prepared to see a more mature Valera in her new adventure. For all lovers of fantasy, especially the more dark genre, a Must-Have!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5-star Game...No Doubt!! Review is based on demo, only: I was thrilled when the game began and I saw the wonderful graphics...I knew then that I was in for a treat! I wasn't let down, either. The Devs outdid themselves on this installment of Dark Realm. I don't give out 5-star reviews unless they realy earn them, and this game does, in my opinion. The HOS are varying in style, and there are several new types that really worked, IMHO. And I love the morphing objects within the HOS, because then I know where to look for them. The puzzles were also interesting enough that I worked them...and enjoyed doing so. This CE will definitely be a purchase for me...plenty of extras that make it worthwhile. The puzzle pieces (collectibles) leave something to be desired, I believe the might have even been an afterthought...?...but most were hidden well enough that they weren't too distracting. Overall, this game feels very "technologically forward," which I expect from devs, these days...glad to see they are doing such a nice job! :) As always, try the demo for yourself!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Vae Victus Is Coming - A Lot To Do In So Little Time! Yes, yes... Mad Head did it again, but even better. This game is right up my alley, and I love it. The creatures, beings, and the like is just what I look for in this type of game. The story line is not unusual but is still captivating. The graphics stand out clear and appealing, and the music fits the theme of the plot. There is lots to do to get from point A to point B, and I love it. The mini games are challenging enough to not quit or skip, the puzzles are more than interesting and encourages me to keep on. I like the extra work in the hidden objects scenes in finding the morphing objects. The puzzle collectibles has me looking in each scene, which is something I like as an added task. Of course, this is the Collector's Editions and it comes with all the bells and whistles. I will be purchasing this game ASAP.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IS THIS THE END FOR QUEEN VALERA? The Dark Realm series makes its fourth appearance with Guardian of Flame, but as you play this game you begin to wonder if this will be its last. In ancient times the great mage Erasmus managed to defeat the Dark Lord and imprison him deep within a chasm, which he then sealed. To ensure that the Dark Lord would never escape, Erasmus had a great dam built then flooded the entire area. Strange events are now occurring and Queen Valera is seeing changes in her amulet that are a definite cause for worry. The situation becomes dire after consulting with her aunt Lassa who confirms that a great evil is about to emerge. Now Queen Valera must do everything in her power to save her world and her people. Play this new Dark Realm game to see if Queen Valeria can survive the ultimate test of her abilities. It will take all of your resources and power if you are to win this battle. It goes without even having to mention that the graphics are excellent given the quality that this developer strives to attain with each new game. The soundtrack at times seems almost epic and adds to the overall feel of the game. Gameplay modes include: Egg, Hatchling, Wyvern, Dragon, and Hydra (Custom). Hints and Skips can be set in a range of 1 to 90 seconds depending on your preference. Your special tools include the interactive map and an amulet. Although I enjoy the puzzles in HOPA games, I am a true HOS lover. Mad Head has created some wonderful HOS for Guardian of Flames that show just how incredible this team can be. I LOVE the HOS far more than I do the puzzles in this game even though there are some equally terrific puzzles with one or two being a bit diabolical. Normally if I don’t care for a particular puzzle in a game I will hit the skip button but some of these puzzles are so much fun that they almost demand to be played. Overall, I would have to say that the HOS and puzzles really make this game for me because I am not thrilled with the storyline of another dark evil looking for world dominion. Yeesh! Please get over this theme already. The CE version of the game includes 30 collectible puzzle pieces, 13 morphing objects, and 30 Treasure Hunt items to find. There are achievements to earn, wallpapers, concept artwork, music, a bonus game, and strategy guide. It is difficult to know what CE extras are available unless you purchase the full game and even then the full array is hidden until you complete the bonus game. In the future I certainly hope that BFG requires the developers to actually show the full array of extras without a gamer having to purchase the game. I said this same thing last week and IMHO, when this information isn’t readily available gamers will most likely wait until the SE version is released. Most people wouldn’t dream of buying a new car unless they knew what extras were included, so why should buying the “special” version of a game be any different? Wake up marketing department and insist that there is full disclosure on the CE releases of games. The game is very good and once again highlights the creative genius of the Mad Head team. As I mentioned above I love the HOS but I am really so done with this dark theme that has been overdone and should be buried somewhere, anywhere but in another game. There are so many possibilities for other storylines and if any developer can lead us in another direction, I am sure it is this one. I long for more sci-fi games or even good old-fashioned mysteries. There is a whole universe out there developers, so why don’t you pick something new and bring us an exciting and different theme in the coming year. Simply because I am a game addict and because I enjoy the HOS and puzzles, Guardian of Flame will be added to my gaming library. Please be sure to try the demo to see if Dark Realm Guardian of Flame is a game you will enjoy. Happy gaming!
