Much better than thought When i read the reviews on the CE i was reluctant to buy this game, but it is much better than the reviews suggest. It has really great graphics, it had interesting jobs to do, and for all, it has a smoothness in playing - meaning that when you get stuff in your inventory, it doesn't stay there for hours, because you don't know what to do with it - no, it is used just for the next scene, therefore the game-play is giving much pleasure! Great game to me! July 10, 2016
NEVER GET ON THE WRONG SIDE OF A WITCH Midnight Calling Jeronimo is a great game and one that I happen to like. Okay, it is not for everyone but hey, I am a hopeless HOPA junkie and truly enjoy almost all of the games that come my way with only a few that I ever happen to dislike. Jeronimo is one of those games that you will either love or hate and I happen to fall into the love it group. As the game begins Jeronimo a retired rascal and thief turned respected innkeeper is telling a story from his past to a traveler. We play the game as Jeronimo so we get to relive the tale as it is told. The tale Jeronimo relates is of a harrowing trip to the forest to find ingredients for a potion to heal his dying young sister. Of course the trip is full of danger because only the forest witch has the potion and now we must steal it. Play this fun game full of adventure and magical creatures to see if it is one you will enjoy. The graphics are excellent but some scenes have a lot of blue. Most of the scenes though are excellent and I found the graphics to be quite crisp and clear. The game offers a custom setting with hints and skips that can be customized within a range of 10 ? 90 seconds. This is where the game will get iffy for some gamers because we do have animal helpers. I didn?t mind them because they fit well into the game's theme and they did prove useful. I found them easy to use and it only required a click or two of the mouse to get them off the interface to complete their tasks. In the CE version of the game we collect coins that can be used to purchase food items for our pets. There is an interactive map present right from the beginning of the game. The HOPS include a variety of styles and while some items might be hard to spot because they are smallish, I had no trouble finding any of them. My least favorite style of HOP is finding items by silhouette and there are several of those but since the silhouettes are excellent they were easy to complete. The mini-games are plentiful and some are easy while some are a bit challenging. I guess the challenge level depends on how good you are at solving the minis. Some gamers will be better at them than others and I fall into the category of someone who loves the minis but sometimes finds them difficult. The ones I dislike the most are those manual dexterity ones that bore me. All in all, there is something for everyone in this game. The CE version of the game includes finding several sets of tarot cards as well as the coins mentioned above. There are morphing objects to find and achievements to earn. The game includes a secret room that is a bonus I happen to enjoy, and then there is the store where we purchase food for our critters. The remaining extras are fairly standard with wallpapers, concept artwork, bonus chapter and the strategy guide. As I mentioned above, this is one of those games that you will either love or hate. Over the years I have played so many HOPA games that I can?t even count them so it is no surprise to me that the stories are often carbon copies. Yes we have an evil witch to deal with but the developer has been very creative in the way the story is told. I found it entertaining and one that held my interest even though it got off to a slow start. As I played through the demo I began to enjoy the game more and by the end, I knew this is a game that would be perfect for me. As always, even though I love this game, please try the demo to see if it is a game you will enjoy. July 10, 2016
Wonderful Fantasy Game The visuals, graphics for this game were fabulous. I loved games that use a lot of light and dark contrast. Flickering shadows playing off the torches and candles against stone walls and dark passages. Beautiful, ethereal scenes with foggy spectral colors of green and purple adding to the spook factor of the game. The gameplay was straightforward, easy to maneuver and jump map always welcomed. The sound, music was perfect throughout the game. Great puzzles. I like the game boards where you have several things to do. My favorite, ever since they were introduced in the Ravenhearst games. Nice interactive HO?s as well. Characters were well drawn, voiceovers so well suited to each individual. Good job developers. I loved the opening seen where the seasoned and aged innkeeper puffing his pipe looking off into the past drawing on memories of his adventures to a patron at the bar. It reminded me of an aged Bilbo in front of his hearth, warm fire, remembering his adventures through the misty woods and over the misty mountains. The ending as well, left me with wanting more of what might happen next if there is a sequel. Will his love return to him? Cute helpers. I like that I did not have to use them too much. But was grateful that in high places, I could send the dragon or bird to fetch an item. A lot better than having to find pieces of a ladder all over various scenes then waiting for the imaginary hands to assemble for use. I loved this game and thank Elephant Games for their continued excellence in casual gaming. Kudos to Big Fish for giving us this great game. August 4, 2016

Heading For The Midnight Castle Once Again Once known as the best safecracker in Rockville, Jeronimo put his thieving days behind him and opened up a small tavern on the outskirts of town. When his baby sister, Ellie became deathly ill, he realized he would have to return to his old ways of stealing, just one more time. There's only one person who has the key ingredient necessary for the cure, Lillian the Forest Witch, and she hates everyone! Lillian is a brutal witch who became obsessed with revenge upon the people of Rockville who were responsible for killing her mother and banishing her as a young child. If Lillian catches Jeronimo stealing from her, his fate will be worse than death itself! Jeronimo soon discovers yet another ingredient is necessary which the witch doesn't have, but the Midnight Castle does! No worries, this is Midnight Calling and all roads lead to Midnight Castle, the everlasting world where dragons still exist, and anything magical can happen! This is an easy game, but sometimes that's okay and in my opinion, makes for a relaxing afternoon! The graphics could be better (hand drawn instead of computer generated) and the mechanics of the game are a bit slow and clunky, as are the voiceovers which are horrible, picture a foreign movie with english dubbed over it, the lips move for 5 minutes, and then the voice chimes in. Oh well, it's just a game, and this game is part of the continuing saga of the original story about the Midnight Castle, which is a cult classic and has many loyal followers such as myself! The Collector's Edition has plenty of Achievements to earn as well as Hidden Cards, Morphing Objects and Coins that can be used to buy all your little forest friends their favorite snacks at the forest's edge. Yes, you get a cutsie little helper, actually, you get two cutsie helpers but no one's counting right? The Hidden Object Scenes are okay, nothing to write home about but nothing horrible either. There are mostly Silhouetted Shape finds but there are also tiny Zoom Zone HOP's where you find 4 or 5 fragments to make one complete item. Most of the Mini Games are easy, some are small quick puzzles, some are more lengthy and multi-layered but again, sometimes you need no brainer puzzles just to have fun without the overload. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo and a few notable puzzles from afterwards: 1) Rotate tiles to complete the image by clicking on the center of each circle section. 2) Place the symbols on the correct rows based on the images they're associated with by swapping them. 3) Select the shield when the circle is on it block. Then attack by pressing the bottom disk when the arrows are in the green area. 4) Using the crystals, color the marks on the head based on their matching shapes. 5) Find 4 symbols on each page during a story about Lillian the witch, that match the example shown. 6) A super puzzle where you first choose laser beams in the correct order by trial and error, then select matching pairs, then select and drag two different symbols to the correct places, then untangle a spider's web, and finally swap spider legs until they snap into place. 7) Find 11 differences between two statues and replace them correctly. The Collector's Edition has 10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art pictures, 4 Music Soundtracks, 24 Achievements, 1 Screensaver, a Secret Room, 17 Morphing Objects, Hidden Magic Cards, Hidden Coins to use at the Forest Edge, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! Short but enjoyable This game hooked me from the beginning. Very beautiful art, good story, good music. It was very short and very easy, so keep that in mind. I enjoyed myself and I would recommend. (This is a review from playing the SE) August 4, 2016
Too easy. One of the easiest demo's I've played. Approx. 30mins., played. Puzzles & H.O.S. really easy, so, for myself, no challenge, whatsoever. Yet another 'helper' game! ARGH!!! The scenes, I played, were very bluey. Hint button is an orb type thing. It moves about, slightly, Has blinking 'eyes' & and has 'flame' type stuff coming out of it. Too distracting. As always, this is just my opinion. July 30, 2016
