PuppetShow: Her Cruel Collection is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magnificent. I love the Puppet Series. My rating is based on playing the entire SE. It meets all of my requirements, such as challenging puzzles, an exciting story and great graphics. Nice add-on: You can choose gender and an avatar. - Story: What if they come after you? You’re a detective, called to rescue a kidnapped fiancé. But when you’re talking to Marjory some masked guys appear trying to silence her. And asked her to bring a ransom to the hospital at midnight. Interestingly, you have a countdown. The villain are one step ahead of you. The end is a little bit sad, on the one hand a forgiving husband on the other hand, a fiancé who is still sick. - Difficulty can be customized in main criteria: Tutorial, sparkles, helping texts, penalty and hint / skip recharge. - Graphics/locations: Still some of the best graphics ever. - Animation and Voice-overs: Excellent. - Music: The main theme is simple brilliant. An earworm. It is quite mesmerizing. - Tools: You have the usual interactive map and a mechanical cat, lending you a helping paw or eye. Whatever you need. Very helpful. - HO’s: Really, really well-crafted. Interactive. Several different types such as description, silhouettes, completing pairs. - Mini games: Not so many. But not that easy. - Adventure part: All locations unfold step by step (as usual) but then are available throughout the game. Not all to solve in succession, but in loops. - Length: I needed about 4 ½ to five hours for completing. Dislikes: nothing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The classic Puppet Show is back foor good Starting from the previous Puppet Show installment, the original spooky, scary and sinister spirit of the series is back and it's great, because this was what made the series popular in the first place. The only thing I regret is that I did not buy the collector's edition, because it tells the full story with hopefully happy ending, while the standard edition leaves one major issue unsolved. But the game was good, so I may even purchase the CE one day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always great. Love these games from the introduction and the graphics, such as if you click the eyes of the masked guy his eyes turn red, to all the little things they do, graphics are great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HELP MARJORY SAVE HER BELOVED JAMES Puppet Show Her Cruel Collection is number ten in the series, unless I missed one somewhere along the line. Fortunately, Her Cruel Collection is far better than the last game and one that I find very interesting and enjoyable. I tend to be a bit squeamish so I am not sure about the game being blood-spattered since I haven’t noticed it or found it objectionable. I'm surprised at the negative rating on the CE BUT there really was not much that would justify the higher price aside from the inclusion of the Strategy Guide. Even then the guides are not as good now as they once were and rather useless if they don't give solutions. I found the storyline interesting and did happen to enjoy playing the game. Not everyone has the same taste in games but this one had what I like. We, of course, get to play the game as a detective who has been hired by Marjory to rescue her beloved James from kidnappers who are holding him for ransom. Marjory comes from a wealthy family but dad seems to be a bit of a miser as he refuses to loan Marjory the money for the ransom and, in fact, he places her on the dreaded restriction to keep her from following the kidnappers. Well, we know how long that will last as it isn’t long before Marjory is out searching for James and ending up in a load of trouble. Even though I have always found the Puppet Show games a bit creepy I still love the graphics created by this developer. The hand-drawn graphics, even though a bit dark, create the perfect setting for the game. IMHO, no other developer creates characters as animated and realistic looking as this artistic team. The voice overs are good but Marjory’s high-pitched tone did get to me a bit. Our tools include an interactive map and a pet helper of sorts. Since Marjory is allergic to cats her daddy gifted her with a grotesque mechanical cat. Well since this team seems wedded to a pet helper, I think I would have preferred furry rather than the monstrosity that we have doing rather silly tasks. The cat is probably my least favorite part of the game and, fortunately, he isn’t used that often. The HOPS are far more varied and creative, which is something new for this team. There are still a few list type scenes and even those seem to have some interactive items to find. The puzzles are good and include a range of challenge that is sure to please most gamers. Some were easy but there was one early in the game that is the type of puzzle I have never been able to complete in other games and, after fiddling with it for a few minutes, I hit the skip button. The thing about puzzles is that not every gamer is enthusiastic about them or really wants them to be extremely difficult. Some people have an aptitude for solving very challenging puzzles and seem to thrive on them but that isn’t the case for everyone. I love to solve puzzles but I often run into some that are very difficult for me and I don’t always have the patience to fiddle with them too long since I want to move ahead with the story. Overall, Her Cruel Intention is an excellent game and one of the better ones in the newer Puppet Show games. Yes, it is nothing like the first three or four games that were phenomenal but it is a vast improvement on the last one. The storyline is what captured my interest from the beginning of the game and has held my attention as I have played for the past few hours. I love the entire package of characters, graphics, and sound effects that make Her Cruel Collection a game that I believe many gamers will enjoy. As always, please try the demo to see if this newest Puppet Show is a game you will enjoy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PuppetShow 9! Help save Marjory and James in this latest thriller... The PuppetShow series must go on! The series has just gotten a new addition and I loved it! Her Cruel Collection is a hidden object game in which your goal is to investigate a series of kidnappings and catch the ones responsible before others are taken as well. A girl and a boy are in love. She is rich and her father does not approve, he is not so rich, but very ill. Things go all the way south when he disappears and then she disappears. The story puts you in the role of a detective who’s investigating these kidnappings. You get to choose whether to be a male or a female investigator, which makes the experience slightly customizable. Naturally, there’s a big emphasis on puppets and creepy dolls throughout the story, given the fact that you stumble onto them in a variety of weird places. You are called in for an investigation, but things are not so simple because you are surrounded by puppets and not real people who pretend to be what they are not. You get a mechanical helper for this adventure, a cat. There is also a bonus game to add more love tension and info about James' illness to the story. I also love how much detail and sound/SFX ERS put into creating the adventure. The game also comes with a "graphic content" disclaimer which I think is brilliant. Like telling you before a movie "For Mature Audiences Only". You gotta give developers credit for putting a lot of thought into this latest edition especially if you are a long-time fan of this unique series. If you want a unique and "think outside the box" mystery then this game is for you. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Purchase CE if you want to know how the story really ends with the included bonus game.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than the previous Though I didn't like the previous game in this series, I've liked this one. I've just found it a bit short. But not bad at all.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun Game Following is the review I submitted when the CE came out based on the demo played in custom mode. I had 23 minutes left on the clock at the end of the demo so that may indicate a shorter game. I found myself really admiring the artwork as I played. Crisp, clean lines, nice color and creative scenery all through the demo. Nothing too dark or small to see. The sound was good as well. At one point I had to lower the music because **spoiler alert** we're racing the clock to achieve a goal and the intensity of the music was causing me a lot of angst. Once I lowered it I was able to proceed without all the adrenaline flowing making me crazy :-) There wasn't as much challenge as I would have expected. There weren't as many HOG's or mini games and the mini's there were were fairly simple except for one type that I particularly dislike so I skipped that one. I didn't see any alternate game that could be played in place of an HOG. There were a lot of cut scenes, almost like watching a movie interspersed here and there with a mini game or HOG. Since I only played the demo and not the full game I don't know if it continues with lots of cut scenes for the entire game. Hopefully another reviewer will play the whole game and fill us in on that. Some other points to be noted are: we can play as male or female as we choose; there are some collectibles, not many and no morphing items. There are the usual achievements, wallpapers, screen savers and music and 4 modes to play in. There is probably a bonus chapter too but I forgot to look to see if one is there. Because of the limited number of collectible-type items and the fact that there are so many cut scenes and too few HOG's and mini games I would wait til the SE comes out and purchase then. There just isn't enough here to justify a CE price IMO. I sure was enjoying what play there is though so I definitely recommend you try the demo.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from PUPPETSHOW OF OLD IS THE SAME TODAY I loved the original puppetshow series and for that reason I recommend this game to new folks of hidden object obsession. If you haven't seen the others, be sure to check them out. It is unique and a little creepy, which makes it fun. The visuals are very detailed and the music compliments the storyline. The storyline is lacking for me, because the demo doesn't leave me with that sense of urgency to make me want to see how it ends. There was not enough information given to give that wow factor for me. A young woman calls you, the detective, to her home to find her true love who was kidnapped by some guys in pointy masks. The reason they say is to get a ransom paid by the girl's father, who refuses to pay, of course. It is unknown how humans are transformed into these puppets and seems too complicated to find out. However, it is a fun game and a great series to those who have never experienced it before. Thanks, Mia.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just OK I have enjoyed the PuppetShow series but this one left me wanting more. Good creepy visuals and interesting puzzles. Very bad ending in the standard edition though. I think this series has run it's course.
