Mystery Case Files: The Black Veil is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Smart game Loved it ! Lots a smart games, no so easy but that's what make it interesting. A small negative point is about the map : worked well at first but was not complete after a while. Anyway, I recommend this game to spend some pleasant hours.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Masterpiece! I bought this game sight unseen (or played) because I knew it'd be a good one. This is quite a long game to play, & there are a lot of ins & outs you have to remember. There's an interactive map, which is definitely needed, as you jump from scene to scene a lot. The hint & skip buttons will re-charge quickly. i loved the story line on this one. At the beginning, you're in WWI, & you end in modern day. It's supposed to take place in Scotland, but I must admit that the villain in this story has the worst Scottish accent I've ever heard! But you soon get past that as you try desperately to save the entire town from prematurely aging & dying. This is one of the best games in this series, as you go into your own past memories (games) to try to stop the madman. I give this one of the best 5 stars I've ever given, Be sure to add this one to your collection. The re-play value? Well, since the story line is so immersing, I think I'll have to wait up to a year before I give it a go again. This one's a winner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from STOP RICHARD GALLOWAY AND SAVE DREADMOND REVIEW FROM COMPLETED GAME AND BONUS This game is about you, Master Detective, to stop Richard Galloway and save Dreadmond. There is: * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Casual, Hard, Insane and Custom modes of play; * Interactive map; * Diary. The graphics are quite dark, however there is plenty of colour. I didn't have any problem finding the items I needed and felt that it added to the ambiance of the game. I loved roaming around and having a good look, never knowing what to expect next. Sound is good and the music is from the Ravenhearst series which I had turned up loud. The hidden object games are highly interactive straightforward and silhouette. All items are clear to see. There are also little mini-games in them as well. I enjoyed doing these. There are a huge variety of mini-games to play. Some you will get very quickly and others you will be spending some time on. There are a few super puzzles to do, however these are not too hard and I did them all. You can skip part or all of these if you prefer. I really enjoyed them. Some took me a good 15 minutes or so to nut them out. I didn't need to use the interactive map at all because you are only moving about a few scenes at a time before heading off, so no long traipsing backwards and forwards The diary has some answers to tasks you will need to do, so just check it out from time to time. So do you want to get the CE or SE? The bonus is about a young Richard Galloway in the 1920s in Paris which is separate from the main game. In the CE there are 39 puzzle pieces to find throughout the game and bonus, plus all the other extras like morphing objects, achievements, trophy room, etc. So, if you don't fancy all the bling bling, then I feel the SE will suffice perfectly. Happy playing fishies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Is One Veil You Don't Want To Lift! An abnormal magnetic field under Deadmond has spiked since the time of the Druids, but yesterday's spike has made up for lost time. Time that these townsfolk no longer have, because time has fast forwarded their lives. The Queen has asked you to investigate this crime against mortality, because almost everyone has aged rapidly (I say almost because little Henry is still little Henry?!?) Joined by Alison Sterling, from Dire Grove, your investigation becomes increasingly difficult with every road you take, but all roads seem to lead to the town's benefactor, Richard Galloway. Time won't be on your side for long, Master Detective, this case must be solved before everyone perishes from old age! Incredible! Mystery Case Files has never released a dud (Shadow Lake may be the exception lol) This one might even top my beloved Ravenhearst series, but I do have to voice my opinion on one flaw. It seems they opted to put the Morphing Objects within the HOP's in the Collector's Edition version, instead of the main game, and for that, I say BOO! I fell in love with this series once I discovered that they all offered Morphing Objects within each scene, and I played them one after another because of the morphs. I always forget to look for the morphs within the HOP's, especially when they are as engrossing as the one's offered in this game. Also available in the Collector's Edition version, are 39 Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces and Achievements to earn, which normally isn't really all that much, but I had to have this game asap, so I didn't hesitate to buy the CE version. The Hidden Object Scenes are so interactive, and oh so fun! There are only 2 offered in the demo however, the first is an Interactive List find, the second is an Interactive, Progressive, Silhouetted Shape find that allows you to pan between 3 different scenes. As I stated earlier, in the CE version, each of the 12 HOP's have a Morphing Object to find and they include at least one Mini Game puzzle. The Mini Games seem to be easier than the usual games offered by MCF, even the 8 part Super Puzzle seem easier, but they are simply fantastic, some of which are offered in the HOP's. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo: 1) Use the clue to dial the correct phone number. 2) Guide the car to the finish line by selecting parts of the road, fueling is equal to one square of road, traffic lights need two fuel units. 3) Shoot the required number of colored spheres at matching colored spheres to make matches of three or more identical spheres. 4) Move the weights so that both sides of the scale are balanced. 5) Position the red tokens according to the picture in the center. 6) Swap the battery tiles to complete the pattern. 7) Use directional arrows to move the snake to eat all fruit. 8) Flip switches according to the hint provided. 9) Use clues to figure out the correct amount of money needed to withdraw, and select the correct money icons to enter. 10) Select the correct symbols on the cylinders shown on the parking meter. 11) Create a path that divides the empty dots from the solid dots. The Collector's Edition has 12 replayable Hop's with 12 Morphing Objects, 36 replayable Mini Games, a Knight's Dire Fate, 39 collectible Jigsaw Puzzle Pieces, Case Files, a Trophy Room, 19 Achievements to earn, 11 Music Soundtracks, Wallpapers, Concept Art pictures, 12 Movies, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Adventure, enjoy lifting that veil!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE MASTER DETECTIVE FIGHTS TIME AS A WHOLE TOWN GROWS OLDER BY THE MINUTE Loved this game, from my favorite developer, EIPIX, so I had to purchase it. From the opening credits to the end of the demo I was on the edge of my seat. The master detective is called to help a friend from the Dire Grove story and gets caught up in a mystery that makes everyone in the town grow older in moments. The visuals and music are very well done and the challenges are just right for me. The storyline leaves me wanting more at the end of the demo, so I'll let you know how it ends. I totally recommend this 5 star game. Thanks, Mia. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from An attention grabber! The opening sequence of this game —another fine offering from Eipix— didn't have me clicking the skip button, as I usually do. It is one of the most dramatic and gripping that I have ever seen! Other reviewers have given you a play-by-play description of the story-line, so there's no point in my reinventing that particular wheel. The graphics are crisp, clear, and extremely well rendered. The background music and sounds are appropriate and definitely add to the game experience. The dialog is similarly very well done; lip-sync, context, voice quality, even the Scots accent of one of the main characters. The HO sequences, especially the interactive offerings, are challenging without need to hit the hint button, at least not too often. The map is a little unusual for a couple of reasons, but I'm not going to spoil your pleasant surprise of discovery by describing them. Game play is smooth, generally quite logical, and follows the story-line fairly well. If you've read other of my reviews you know I'm not a big fan of mini-games, but those found in this game, while challenging, didn't have me hitting the skip button -well, not too often, anyway. My recommendation to get this game comes with the usual caveat that you play the demo and decide for yourself.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I Was Disappointed I wanted to like this game, mainly because the story hooked me in, but alas, it was not to be. I dislike puzzles. I skip them all, and so I was happy when devs finally began giving us a custom option to set hint and skip times to very short periods. In this game, however, puzzles were often embedded in HOS and puzzles had hidden objects to find and use. That would be a huge positive if I liked puzzles (like, Wow! How creative!) but for me it was instead a huge negative. Graphics were just average and dark in places, so I did turn up my screen's brightness level a bit. Voice-overs were well acted, and even if the accents were somewhat lacking in authenticity, at least the delivery was neither wooden nor overly animated. I recommend this game only if you love puzzles and mini-games.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from MCF.. Another Great Game This is posted after completing the entire game. I have all the MCF games and while they have been difficult, this one takes the cake. I didn't find it all that much fun. If you love mini games and mind teasers, this game is for you. It seems like about every time you turn around there is another mini game. Even in the hidden objects scenes there were mini games. Most of them I didn't understand what in the world to do and the others were way past my patience level. Had it not been for the multitude of mini games, this would have been a tremendous one. Graphics were very well done and the sound, including voice overs were excellent. I enjoyed the music tremendously for some reason. Usually I keep it at background level, but I even turned it up a bit. Effects went along with the action in the scene and were very acceptable. Other than the aforementioned mini games, the hidden objects were challenging and sometimes just plain tough. I really liked them. They were varied and caused me some problems along the way. There are several modes of play, of which I chose the custom so I could set the skip and hint to its quickest time. The map is a bit unusual in what we normally see. It took me a little while to adjust my mind to see where I needed to go. Once I did understand that map was a lifesaver. There are the super puzzles which I found to be mixed. Thankfully they have allowed you to skip just portions of the puzzle and continue on. Others will go in depth about the story. It was good. I loved the ending most of all. You do need to pay attention as the game progresses or you will get lost. I kind of did, but figured out what was happening. Not a bad story and it has continuity. That's been lacking in some games here lately. This is not a bad game at all IF YOU LOVE MINI GAMES. If you don't, be prepared, because you're going to have a ton of them. Just be sure to play in the custom mode. Try the demo and see if this suits your fancy.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from It caught my attention from the beginning, BUT It soon fizzled out. The story was convoluted and didn't hold my attention. The map was very different and hard to understand and there were so many mini puzzles. I was so disappointed :o(
