Great Mahjong Adventure! This is a great Mahjong game with an intriguing "murder mystery" type of story set in a Victorian era, with an untypical and interesting set of powerups (especially for a Mahjong game) and "combo" system that adds lots of challenge to the levels! The has tons challenging puzzles to solve, and a additional Match 3 "boss encounter" game mode that help to shake up the gameplay. Overall I enjoyed and recommend the game! (btw the "skip dialog" button is located in the upper top corner of the screen - you can skip all dialogs if you don't like them.) August 17, 2015
Mirror, mirror on the wall, the best Mahjong of them all? Woow, this game simply adds a magic factor to the basic Mahjong game we love! It's gothic, mysterious, romantic and full of surprises (could you expect Match 3 levels woven into the story??). My only concern: the Mahjong tile emblems look tiny at the first glance, but since I was able to adjust the scale with a mouse wheel, this is no longer an issue. Long story short, this is the one of the most refreshing titles I've been playing recently (not very soon though, as my wife just nailed it down...). August 18, 2015
Enjoyable Game I first thought this would be a rather simple game, I was wrong. I love playing Mahjong and I'm always looking for new games to play. The first part was rather simple and I didn't think I would buy it - then I hit a couple chapters in and it became more difficult to complete each game in one try or several tries. It can be a bit challenging and I think most mahjong players would enjoy it. I just wish the text from the huntress would appear all in one talk box instead of one sentence in several boxes. That's annoying. But overall a good game. August 17, 2015
Hounting moments of Mahjong fun! A fun and enjoyable game with great setting and overall story arc! I loved the fact that the story takes a quick turn into the paranormal realms and didn't expect to visit a little elf village in a Victorian England! The Art design and characters are great! The music did get a little bit repetitive after so many hours of gameplay, but it's a minor complaint. Go Mery! :) Just have in mind that some puzzles have a time restriction on them (like the mentioned artefact search puzzles) and you have to use the combo meter to get the best scores that can require some high levels of agility ;) (what was a plus for me as I like some intense action!) Overall it's a great game and I loved it! I didn?t encounter any problems with the game that other users reported - the tiles ware readable to me (not mentioning the zoom functionality) so I can't complain - you can skip the dialogs entirely (except the tutorial for some weird reason) - I rater like a challenging puzzle so the game was perfect for me and I didn?t encounter any difficulty problems August 20, 2015
Superb! Bought it and I love it. When down loaded the whole game you can collect 3 stars on all the levels if you want. If you like mahjong by this one. August 13, 2015
Astonishing, yes. Although you don't exactly "hunt" for the tiles, this game is interesting enough to leave my review. While I don't usually waste my time to decomplete the Mahjong stacks, I gave this one a try, once I read it is story driven. After first three minutes of playing, I was absolutely crestfallen by the quality and the atmosphere of this unusual combination. The graphics is great, the polishing is perfect and the idea you unroll the story by uncovering the puzzles (yes, behind Mahjong stacks) is remarkable after a while. Mastering the levels for 2 or 3 stars makes no difference for me, but as long as the story keeps me engaged till the end of trial, I'll buy this one. August 23, 2015
Fascinating! The beautiful art and music combined with mysterious storyline all in old English style makes this game really unique and for me even some thrilling during evenings play-sessions with the lights off. The game is a whole story with mahjong and match three immersed into as elements of storyline but fortunately if the story is already finished and there are no need to read it again there is possibility to skip it. The mahjong game is classic but extended by magic powers which make the game a little bit easier and the same goes to match three. If I play to relax myself I don't use them but if I master the stack to three stars the magic powers are very useful. August 20, 2015
For the Mahjong Completionist I'm honestly shocked this game has such a mediocre rating - I loved it and have played my fair share of Mahjong games! There's a fun tale with our huntress, Mary Riley, and I hope a mahjong sequel comes out continuing her story...... And if the developer wants to turn her story into an HOA that would be super too (HINT HINT). The graphics are lovely, the music is eerie enough to reflect the tone, and there are periodic journal entries from Mary's kidnapped suitor to offer insight into their relationship. As far as the mahjong puzzles: there are 6 chapters within the story containing several levels each of mahjong puzzles. Each level has a 3-star rating: 1 for completion, 1 for high score, and 1 for the bonus goal. There are also Achievements; once you "CLAIM" a completed achievement, it earns you energy crystals for power-ups that are helpful when completing hard bonus objectives for more difficult levels. Each chapter also has a 3-star Match-3 boss battle. There are another 232 mahjong puzzle "Mystery Challenges" with high scores & bonus objectives to play in addition to the story. The one thing I could see as a criticism is the lack of variety. Other than the boss battles, this game is straight mahjong and for gamers used to mini-games breaking up the main play style, this will be a disappointment. Overall, as a gaming "completionist" and lover of mahjong, this game has provided hours of entertainment and relaxation I'm STILL enjoying on the daily and is a MUST OWN. I usually take advantage of sales to make game purchases so getting this game on the cheap has made it even sweeter, but Mahjong Huntress is well worth the full price considering the amount of puzzles and time you will put into it! They must of fixed problems??? I read some reviews and started not to try this game but I like mahjong so I tried it for myself. First of all they have a magnifying glass in corner that automatically enlarges tiles when you move your curser over tiles so no problem there. Also they have a good size playing board so i had no problem seeing the tiles without it, if you are looking at pictures of tile and not the number they put in the corner. Also I did see when they asked you to complete a level in 0 seconds so I left trial and then decided to go back again because I loved the graphics so much and the tiles, with new moons, full moons and quater moons ect. When I played again i re-did levels and seen timer was set at 150 seconds to get an additional star. I really don't like timed either but if you can be satisfied with 2 out of 3 stars it doesn't force you to play fast as long as you complete one of the objectives like collect all the tiles you can move on. It has a story to it which I like, and it reveals clues throughout game getting certain items when complete level. They do have a skip button if you are not intrested in reading dialogue. Also, I like the power ups in the game which are needed if you do want that timed star. So it has a lot of challange to this game. They also have a bonus thingy that counts how many tiles you can clear in a row which you have to be fast clearing them or it resets. Some objectives require you to achieve this to get a star. You can replay all levels to go for perfect. I am a sucker for trying to acheive 3 stars so I do wish they had an untimed mode so I don't have to be bothered with acheiving stars for time. There is also objective to achieve a certain score to get a star. But like I said it doesn't stop you from moving on. So don't go by some of these reviews that were written previously. Try the game for yourself. I think most people will like it if they want a challenge or heck forget about the stars and just play for the story and nice graphics and fun power ups. August 13, 2015
A very nice mahjong, a bit different from most I like mahjong games now and again, but often tire of the sameness of them. Usually the sameness of the tiles, and the lack of any storyline. In this game there is a story, a mystery (my favorite!), and the tiles are not the traditional "Asian" characters I find hard to tell apart. The game plays extremely quickly. You can make match after match and it keeps up with no lags. There are lots of "powers" to help, but I didn't find they made the game too easy. In fact, near the end of the demo time I was having to replay boards. There are the familiar powers, such as shuffle, or hints, as well as new ones, like matching even the blocked tiles, or "polymorph," which turns all in a group into one type of tile. There is a pendant to store a tile for later use. I didn't get to any board but mahjong, but the screenshots show match-3 as well. The graphics are nice, the tiles a little smaller than usual, but I could see them fine with my usual computer/reading glasses! I enjoyed the story, reading the "clues" and following my character from room to room. I want to find out where her fiance has gone, and if they do indeed get married or wait, as our character would prefer. August 13, 2015
