if you loved Tiny Bang Theory, you will love this one! If you remember and loved the Tiny Bang Theory, this game is for you! Similar art work and gameplay make Steel Life a sure bet. While I have just begun the challenge, I am looking forward to several days of clever game play and mind bending mini games. There is a skip button, but I don't like giving up! There is a tutorial (which i recommend you watch) but you'll have to figure out any further moves on your own. A hint button which recharges every minute is also helpful. (no more catching flies to fill the hint meter) Don't pass this one by. It's different...but fun different. February 23, 2016
the most challenging game i ever loved! it is so nice to use the little grey cells once again. yes, i had to use the hint button (a lot) and the bfg game forum was invaluable (thank you to all the posters) for some difficult bits. the game is incredibly well thought out and intelligent. graphics were clear (and sometimes complicated). the puzzles were a nice mix of hard and relatively easy. and NO HOGS!!!! would be easier for people who are more mechanically minded than i am, but i thoroughly enjoyed it all the same. well done!!!!!! Where oh where did the scientist go? When I wrote this review, I was in the mine. I have found no glitches what so ever. I'm running Windows 8 64 bit. As I never in H0PA's use the tutorial, I recommend it in this game as it is a very good and detailed one. There's no VO's in the game, but you don't miss them. Even though this does have a hint button and a skip button, this is strictly an adventure game. Story: The story goes like it says in the intro a group of scientist changed the people into the robots so they're immune to the virus yes. But the one scientist who knows how to transform them back is lost in the mines somewhere and you have to get him back at all costs. I love the story and want to see what happens. Mini games: A racing car one where you have to at least get 5th place. You can't use the keyboard, only your mouse and it's hard. I managed to get 6th, tried a couple more times and skipped. The nice devs still gave you the "You Win". All the others I didn't. You had the very first one find the code. Then connect the plugs in so many moves each. Then Asteroids where you had to beat the high score of 50, I got 60. You have to click almost like a machine gun :) Hint System: I don't see nothing at all useless about it. The hint system is awesome. Not only does it show you where to go, but say like you have an elevator button to push, it circles which one you have to push. Very detailed. Graphics: Yes they maybe on the cartoon side, but they're extremely well done. No problems at all telling what they are. Kudos to the team for an awesome game! I highly recommend this game. Something totally different I have not had time to finish the preview but I love the game. It is primarily an "adventure game" but a little different from most others. Getting started is something of a challenge since you are presented with a lot of gadgets to help you along. Do use the tutorial. I tend to skip them but this time it was helpful in getting set up. There is a lot going on on the screen and it took me some time to cover all the activities. I like the visuals and odd characters and find the whole thing great fun. I think though that I may just start over now that I have the drill and make sure I did not miss anything. Don't let the amusing visuals fool you. The game is actually difficult. February 24, 2016
Surprised by this great game... And all the negative reviews! It seems that a lot of 'experienced' gamers curiosity ends when faced with something new and challenging. That's too bad? Missing out on a great game because it confused you is a pretty lame reason to miss out on a great game. Yes, it takes a while to learn to navigate... And yes, it's different than the games we're used to but good grief is that any reason to give up after 10 minutes and write a negative review? It seems for some it is. Back to the game ? It was a lot of fun and a nice change of pace. Having to figure out and think though a problem rather than just hitting the ?hint? button or bounce from one hidden object 'puzzle' to the next is a bit more challenging than many games, which may be why so many gave up so soon? I hope the developer doesn?t give up because I look forward to their next game. February 26, 2016
Outstanding game You have to work hard to conquer this game and it is well worth it. Fascinating and challenging. I loved it. February 23, 2016
Some Warts, But A Wonderful Game! Quirky, frustrating, challenging, occasionally brilliant game, but definitely not for everyone. Puzzles only in this one, but oh, what puzzles! The player had better use the tutorial, to start out with, and is in a constant state of "what do I do now?" despite the objectives clearly being defined on the PDA. Better have a high tolerance for ambiguity and a high degree of patience. Pros: Wonderful atmosphere, amusing characters, straightforward plot. Smooth game play, useful map. Great humor. Gorgeous cut scenes. Puzzles galore, several quite challenging. I actually skipped one and I HATE doing that. Music selection superb. Cons: A couple of points were a little too obscure: the mechanical bird, for one. The frequently-used help function was occasionally not terribly helpful, within the greenhouse, for example. There were language challenges - a professional translator might be an improvement. Overall, pure fun for an audience with a sense of humor as odd as the developers'. Thanks, guys, for a lot of enjoyment! March 3, 2016
Outstanding: tricky, challenging, lovely and retro. My rating is based on playing the entire game and meeting all of my requirements. At the beginning, it is not so easy to find the right approach, it is a little bit tricky. It was half of the fun, making out how it works. Retrospectively considered, all was quite logical. But one has a lot to think about. It is an adventure and is reminiscent of the 90ties games ? in a good way. For me, it was the best game I?ve played in the last year. - Graphics: Awesome, comic style. Quite a piece of art. - Animation: well done - Music: fitting - Tools: an interactive map and a more than helpful PDA. - Mini games: Some of them were really heavy. Some of them, were kind of the early video games. Lovely retro. All in all, they were extremely good. - Length: I needed about 6 hours for completing, which was great. March 14, 2016
Thinky Adventure Game An earlier review noted that this was like Tiny Bang Story, which I quite enjoyed and have played through a few times,so I took a chance and used a game credit. Am I ever glad that I did. Thanks to the invaluable forum help for this game, I managed to get through some tricky bits that eluded me and finished a few moments ago after playing on and off for the last two days. The puzzles require some thought, but there is a skip button if things start to get too frustrating. There are achievements, too, which are nifty for a standard game. :) If you like a challenging adventure game such as Tiny Bang Story or Shaban, then this is the one for you. February 29, 2016
If you like analytic/logic puzzles, you'll probably like this game I'm going to give this a 5 because I don't regret purchasing it, but it's really about a 4.2. Bonus points for being different and a challenge. I have been on this site for years and I need a challenge to be satisfied, and this was one. True, grammar was not spot on, but you could still figure out what you needed to. Plus it had some really different world-building creativity going on, which I really appreciate after having played a ton of these. It pretty much pushed me to figure out more and use my brain more. I chose the advanced level. There were several times that I couldn't figure out what to click on or that something was click-on-able. But eventually I got it and I appreciated that the game made me work for it. This is one of those games where all in all, I didn't have to do much, but I was challenged, and although I had to skip one puzzle (which I almost never do, but it was the only one similar to other games I've played and I couldn't solve it after hours), nothing irritated me, save for the end where it was a question mark and made me wonder if there was a bonus level I couldn't find. That doesn't mean I wasn't frustrated at times, but when I finally figured something out (after having to do a lot of going back and repeating steps again) it felt pretty good. This game doesn't hand it to you like some other games. March 28, 2016
