Phantasmat: Behind the Mask 4.5 5 28 28
Phantastic Phamily Reunion Meet Claude Ward, the famous composer, Norman Ward the burly hunter, Lisbeth Ward a painter, and a very good one, and Abigail Ward, an Herbalist, your kinfolk. You've never met these family members before, where have they been all these years? This is one family reunion you may never forget, this is one family reunion you may never survive! These eccentric Ward's have skeletons in their closets, can you escape the Ward Manor without adding to their collection? I'm still a Phantasmat fan, the games in this series just get better and better, (but I still love the original story the best) This game will not disappoint you, the graphics are stunning, and what a great story! The Collector's Edition has 42 Collectible 3D Rocking Horses, 20 Morphing Objects, and plenty of Achievements to earn. Each chilling chapter will shed light upon each family member, including little Thomas who seems to be feared by everyone. The Hidden Object Scenes are just as creepy as the Ward family, with a variety of styles to please just about any HOP fan. There are multiple finds that open up a tool of some sort to be used upon the item shown which will then open up a listed item finds. Some have small puzzles to solve, silhouetted shape finds, morphing object finds and even progressive interactive finds where you find the first item and use that item interactively in the scene to expose the next item and so forth. There is an optional Match 3 game as well. The Mini Games are decent, but tend to be on the side of easy and not very complex, within the demo itself, but I will admit that after the demo the games become more difficult and more entertaining. Below is a list with brief descriptions of some of the games you will encounter within the demo: 1) Drag tiles and rearrange them to form a complete image on three cylinders. 2) Select symbols and bells in the correct order. 3) Spin outer and inner circles to form an image. 4) Put moths in their correct places to match their descriptions, then select the numbers on the panel to match the result of each equation. 5) Drog all matching plates into the correct areas based on their symbols, using arrows. 6) Select a clock hand and select any of the two rotation buttons to move it, and arrange them so that the hands are in the correct quarters based on the picture. The Collector's Edition has 10 Music Soundtracks, 16 Videos, 7 Characters, a Souvenir Room, 8 Wallpapers, 12 Concept Art pictures, 42 Collectible Rocking Horses, 20 Morphing Objects, 14 Achievements, 20 replayable Puzzles, 18 replayable HOP's, replayable Match 3 games, Bonus Videos, a Bonus Chapter and a built in Strategy Guide, This is one game that will chill ya to the bone, enjoy! THIS IS A FAMILY REUNION YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS At the end of 2015 there were some absolutely terrific games released and Behind the Mask was one of those. It is only my opinion, but this is probably my favorite game of the entire year. It is suspenseful and has an excellent storyline that kept me intrigued until the end of the game. Following is the review I submitted for the CE release. In the month since the game was released, I have played it three times simply because I loved it and also because there was so much to do. It is without hesitation that I recommend this awesome game to all of you who are looking for a good challenge and some spooky entertainment. Seems it?s time for a Ward family reunion and what a ?killer? event it promises to be. Just beware, don?t drink any tea that Aunt Abigail offers. Phantasmat Behind the Mask is an awesome game in a series that has been quite disappointing in recent years. But after playing the game?s beta release, I could hardly wait until the full game was released. IMHO, Behind the Mask is everything a Phantasmat game should be and more. As you arrive at the family mansion and take a look at the gloomy old, family estate, that should have been your first clue to run the other way, because it certainly doesn?t look like it is ready for what should be a festive occasion on a beautiful May evening. Once you make your way into the estate there should have been a sign that said ?welcome to the family reunion from you know where.? It isn?t long before you realize that there is something very wrong with the members of the Ward family and you must protect yourself from their murderous intent. The graphics are excellent and create the perfect setting for Behind the Mask. What a terrific job the developer did in capturing every detail in the decaying mansion to bring this game to life. I love the music, ambient sounds and the excellent voiceovers. Because I was so immersed in the storyline and the graphics, I almost believed that I was the one dealing with my departed relatives. The HOP scenes are some of the best I have seen in a long time. Some of them are the progressive scenes where you must obtain one item to find the next. Even if the HOPS are not progressive, many of them are multi-level and contain puzzles to solve as you locate certain items. If you don?t want to find items in the HOP there is an alternative match-3 game that you can play. As is the current trend most of the puzzles in the game are fairly standard and easy to solve, although they do become a bit more difficult as the game progresses. There is a mini super puzzle early on and I am hoping there will be at least one or two full super puzzles later in the game. There is wide variety in the puzzles that is sure to keep most of us happy as we play through the game. The CE version has morphing objects, collectibles, achievements and all of the other goodies we expect to find from this developer. Of course the in-game strategy guide is one important feature of all CE games and very useful, particularly if you are new to playing HOPA games. Overall the game is a fairly decent CE value. To say that I love this game is an understatement. I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Behind the Mask and now that it has arrived, it certainly lives up to my expectations. We have a more in-depth look at Abigail, Claude, Norman, Lisbeth, Patrick, and Thomas as we delve into the Ward family history. The game seems longer than most and it is a bit challenging as it is not easy to find some items and figure out what to do with them. Of course the game was an instant buy for me and I didn?t bother to download the demo but it might not be for everyone. Please try the demo to see if Behind the Mask is a game you will enjoy. Awesome. my ranking is based on completion of SE and fulfillment of all my personal requirements. These are: - First of all, a decent length, I needed 5 hours and a little bit. That?s fine for me. - Excellent graphics: they were really, really good. - Good Animation: indeed, they were not only good, but rather excellent, - Voices: good spoken, matching the characters - Music, which is not disturbing. - Fitting background noises. - An interactive map. - Good Story - Different and interesting HO?s: the game has quite a large range of different types. Description and silhouettes, some were interactive. Some with riddles or morphing objects. - Tricky mini games: oh yes - Many locations - Challenge: The tasks were logical, but not that easy. Mostly, you have a lot of items, thus also many possibilities. Sometimes you really have to think about, I like that. At the end, a few tasks were somewhat too far-fetched. I prefer playing w/o helping texts, thus it was a little bit tricky. - Difficulty to be customized. You can choose: tutorial, map issues, contextual pointer, plus-item, sparkles at HO?s, glitter, hint / skip recharges, helping texts. If you like challenging games, with good HO?s and many mini games, with a good quality, try this one. You?ll like it. January 24, 2016
Alot of fun I played the 1st Phantasmat....outdated,now...loved it.I was hoping another one would follow and improve. Then, the story lines and graphics of the series were boring and no challenge.Like the "Endless Night"But this one is good, just started it and can tell the graphics and story line are not mundane .I love Big Fish !! Y'all get good games !! January 15, 2016
Good game - but My "but" is that I got really, really, tired of "what can I do here?" and "I've got to consider my options" and all the other repetitive and unhelpful phrases that popped up when I clicked on an area. Never thought I'd long for the more obvious "a piece is missing", or "I need to find the key" but I sure did! Other than that I enjoyed the game. The story line is good. The game length is good. The difficulty of the puzzles was enough to be a challenge without too many skips or resorts to the hint button. I thought the art work was very good, as well as the music. Thoroughly enjoyable. Phantasmat: Behing the Mask This was a good came it got you interested in the story and you did want to find out how the ending was going to be. I like the visual quality of it there was no problem and you could see everything that was going on. January 16, 2016
Love the Phantasmat Series! I don't typically review games, but I haven't enjoyed a game as much as I have this one. The storyline is intriguing, the visuals are magnificent, but most importantly the puzzles and gameplay are challenging (without being frustrating) and clever (without being tedious). No mindless "hidden object" mini-game here, you have to do more than simply spot things in a jumbled mess. I've played one other in the Phantasmat series and I loved that one too. A most enjoyable way to pass the time! January 21, 2016
Awesome!!! This is the best game I've played in a great while. All the bells and whistles I like in a game. Play it,You'll see! January 20, 2016
. Way to go! I usually save my five stars for those that I feel really deserve it and this is one them. I played for ~10 hours and loved every second of it. 2016 January 21, 2016
Deserves 5 Stars! Everything about this game is good. I loved the graphics, puzzles, music, the challenge, and the length. What more is there? Great game! August 3, 2016
