Immortal Love Enjoyed this game - fun and entertaining story line with plenty of hidden objects and brain teasers. January 12, 2016
the count wants angelica in order to bring back his first true love the count keeps marrying woman and they keep dying because he has made a pact that he would collect 100 souls in 100 years so he can have his first true love back. valery, his first wife, helps the good guy but then his memories are erased and without her he wouldn't have a clue what is going on. he hs to travel to his roots to regain his memories. there is an interactive map. a custom level. not a bad game, played better, though!! Jacque Forgot To Remember Imprisoned for nearly two months now, Jacques Perrault has been accused of kidnapping his own wife, Angelica! There's two problems with this situation, nobody knows they secretly wed, and Jacques has no clue why he would attempt such a thing, he doesn't remember anything about the crime, in fact, he doesn't remember anything, he doesn't even remember Angelica! All that's about to change, and he soon realizes that he's the victim of a curse that has wiped away all his memories, D'Morten's curse, and he wants Angelica to be his Countess! Turn's out Angela and Jacques share a love that runs deep, an Immortal love, a love that Count D'Morten cannot allow if Angelica is to be his wife, wife number 20! I'm usually not a fan of love stories, the storyline has to be really good to capture my attention. Not only does this game have an intriguing and immersive storyline, it isn't a sappy mushy soap opera! Quite the opposite, there's a jailbreak for starters, along with murder, deceit, treachery, greed and of course, immortal love. There are lots of inventory items to find and apply to appropriate tasks, some of which are Plus Items requiring some type of interaction or puzzle to solve before the items can be used. There are also Conversation choices to make as well. Eventually you will receive an Amulet that can slow down and rewind time to help you correct minor or even major mistakes made. The Collector's Edition has the additional features of D'Morten's Secret Chest which stores the portraits of all 20 previous wives as well as the 21 Morphing Objects you come across during the adventure. The chest will reveal his secrets when all have been found. The Hidden Object Scenes are not bad, with a clear attempt at making the normal a little more interesting, searching for arrest documents, photographs and other prison related material including verifying handprints. There are still the typical listed item finds and silhouetted shape finds included. The Mini Games tend to be a bit too easy, not necessarily bad, but nothing to write home about either. Below is a list of brief descriptions on some of the Mini Games you will play during the demo: 1) Swap image fragments to complete 4 photographs. 2) Select cylinders in the correct order to pick a lock by trial and error. 3) Slide color coded skulls to their matching slots, in two different puzzles, the first very easy, the second, slightly more difficult. 4) Swap tiles to complete the image. 5) Match identical Masks. 6) Place flags with two cutouts to match the correct set of tokens. 7) Drag circles until they form the correct numbers. 8) Flip over two mosaic tiles to match associated pairs, if the selection is wrong the tiles will shuffle. 9) Select fragments in the correct order based on clues given. The Collector's Edition has 4 Screensavers, 18 Concept Art pictures, 6 Music Soundtracks, 12 replayable Hidden Object Scenes, 14 replayable Mini Games, 7 Wallpapers, 15 Movie Cutscenes, 20 Collectible Portraits, 21 Morphing Objects, 20 Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter, enjoy! A good one my star rating is based on completion of SE and my own requirements: - Graphics: The graphics are great, fitting sceneries, e.g. murky dungeon - Animation: Super - really amazing. - Voices: good spoken, matching the characters - Music: is ok and occasional. Fitting background noises, well done. - Tools: an interactive map and an amulet, that allows a time leap. - Story: It is exciting, you lost your memory and your love. Step by step, you?re regaining both. - HO?s: mostly description and silhouettes HO, with some interaction. They are quite good . - Challenge: The tasks were logical, but not that easy. Mostly, you have a lot of items, thus also many possibilities. Sometimes you really have to think about, I like that. Reasons for 4 instead of 5 stars - Difficulty can be customized, but you can?t let away helping texts. I prefer playing w/o helping texts, though they clearly have helped in this game. - Length: It could have lasted longer, I needed not even 4 hours. In principal 4 hours are o.k. but not 5 stars worth. January 22, 2016
good game, but awkward I enjoyed this game, but felt like it was a lot of work in the sense the storyline seemed a bit confusing and it took me awhile to figure out how the transporter map worked. Story was interesting enough, but got confusing when the girl I thought was killed in the beginning turned out not to be so for awhile the story seemed odd. I felt the gameplay was awkward and choppy. HOS could be fun and difficult at times due to lack of clarity of what one was suppose to do. Puzzles were OK and easy at times but lack of clear instructions made them a "puzzle" too. I felt like the game was basically badly edited. Voiceovers were good and could be amusing at times, music OK (I always turn that down), animations, color and graphics were good. When a game doesn't flow smoothly, it can be a bit annoying as this was at times, but I still enjoyed it. I didn't find it short and was a good length for a SE. January 11, 2016
. Not a bad way to kill 4.5 hours. I liked it a lot, seemed to have a nice flow to the story. I recommend the game. 2016 May 3, 2016
This Is a No-Win Situation Poor Jacques! He has been imprisoned for a crime he does not remember committing, shooting the future wife of Count D'Morten, Angelica. Now, on the eve of his execution, a stranger appears, ready to assist him in escaping and proving his innocence. He will have to fight to get back his memory, taken by a curse/spell of Count D'Morten. Good Stuff: There is Game-play, multilevels of it, and the usual assortment of HOPs, mini-games, and puzzles. Good artwork and fair flashbacks help the minimal story - The count wants Angelica, doesn't know you two were secretly married, and will achieve his objective by any means available. Better - no animal helpers and no opening crash. Bad Stuff: Everything is pretty run of the mill, average, seen this before. So if you are looking for a game like many others, here it is. I want more and can not recommend what I won't buy. Please try this demo out and see what you think. January 8, 2016
Starts with a Bang and ends in a fizzle I bought this game after 10 minutes into the demo, the game play is somewhat challenging and different from what has been offered lately. But....again it fizzled out in the last part of the game and then just abruptly ended. I am sorry I bought it. It is somewhat fun but I felt too short. I will continue my search for a game that is unique and not the same rehash of previous games of the last 5 years. Come On developers you have seasoned players here, lets develop something we have not seen over and over again. PLEASE!!! January 9, 2016
Ok game, nothing special. This game starts out wonderful with great promise. I enjoyed the demo so much I couldn't wait for this game to be released as a SE (I never waste money on CE's) The day it was released I purchased it immediately! It starts to go down hill not long after the demo part ends. It gets more and more mundane the further you go. The ending was just so anticlimactic and abrupt. I was very disappointed in the game to put it mildly. Nothing major stands out about the game, except I did enjoy the music. The games were just regular nothing really new or exciting. There are far better games you could spend your money on. January 24, 2016
A Tale Of Star-Crossed Lovers And The Evil Count Who Strives To Keep Them Apart You play the game as Jacques D? Perrault and you find yourself in prison with no memory of who you are or why you are there. Just before you are scheduled to be executed, you are visited by a stranger who says he is going to help you escape and that is where your adventure begins. The year is 1789 and apparently you have kidnapped and seriously wounded the future countess D?Morten and that is why you are awaiting your execution so now you must reconstruct what happened and prove your innocence before the blade falls. The game offers four modes of gameplay: Casual, Advanced, Expert, and Custom. I always select the custom mode when it is offered so that I can set up the hint and skip times for my preference. The graphics are excellent and some scenes are beautiful BUT there is also a bit too much use of purple and pink in some of those scenes. The game has excellent lip-synced voiceovers and with the inclusion of the music and special sound effects the game comes to life. Many of the hidden object scenes are interactive and they are not always obvious. I sometimes didn?t realize when I was in a HO scene because they were woven seamlessly into the storyline. I very seldom have to resort to using the hint button to locate items in the HO scenes in a game but I found that I needed it more frequently in this game. I guess that means either the game is more difficult or the items are just invisible. Frankly, I think it is a combination of both as some items were very well hidden and were not in my face obvious. On the other hand, the puzzles were very easy, in fact extremely so. In the words of another excellent reviewer, his wonder dog Stanley could complete the puzzles with a tap of his paw. Yes, the puzzles are that easy but hopefully they will pick up in difficulty later in the game The game has an interesting but sometimes familiar storyline of a Count obsessed with power and the young lovers he attempts to destroy. As we delve further into the story we find a more sinister count with a history of many wives. The fact that the count kept ridding himself of wives is a similar theme to the story of Bluebeard but told with a different twist. Although the storyline is familiar and a bit wornout, I like this game and it has enough challenge to keep my brain busy even with the easy puzzles. Even though the game was one I liked, please try Immortal Love Letters from the Past to see if it is a game you will enjoy. January 8, 2016
