I've never had so much fun playing a game! I absolutely loved, loved, loved this game! Let me first start off with, if you are expecting a somewhat scary game like the first few in the Witches Legacy series this is not that, if you are looking for a challenging game to really test your gray matter this is also not that. What this is, is a really fun, highly interactive, whimsical , charming and relatively easy game to play when you want to lift your spirits or just to just sit back and relax and enjoy a really fun easy colorful game! Almost everything is interactive and does something when touched even if you don't have to use the item in question. All the hidden object scenes are highly interactive as well. You have a ferret who you dress up to do certain tasks for you. She isn't used often, but I had great fun watching and listening to her while she performed her tasks, a few times she had me rolling with laughter and/or delight! The colors are bright and cheery, the only drawback for me is in some scenes they seemed to try to add light by adding a yellowish tinge which I didn't really care for but overall the graphics were great! The music changed throughout and it was quite enjoyable and fitting to each scene. I haven't had this much pure unadulterated fun playing a game ever before!! Set all your adult cares and worries aside for a few hours while you enjoy this fun, childlike, whimsical game! You'll be glad you did! August 28, 2016
~~~Defeat the Evil Witch Sisters in Dark Days to Come~~~ Another Excellent Edition to Witches' Legacy!! Dark Days to Come is a colorful hidden object adventure game in which you have to fight against evil witches and even use their magic against them in order to rescue your girlfriend. The game has upgraded on innovation, but the gameplay mechanics are exactly the same as they are in every other game in the genre, except the story and the puzzles are different. Speaking of which, the plot is very simple and straightforward as well, since you begin by having to rescue your girlfriend from the twin witch sisters. In order to do so, you have to travel to a different realm and face the perils you find there, while also learning how to counter various magic spells. It?s a cute plot, it?s original and exciting and for me this installment will be memorable! Solve puzzles by rearranging pieces or finding the right pattern is a reoccurring theme. As mentioned above, the gameplay should be very intuitive if you are a regular fan of the genre. In essence, it all revolves around being able to find the useful items in every scene and then using them to unlock other areas and so on. Every now and again an actual puzzle blocks your progress, but it can be either skipped or replaced with a match-3 mini-game if you find it too difficult. Thankfully, at least your eyes won?t get bored along the way, thanks to the gorgeous artwork and the dreamy backgrounds that truly make you feel like you?ve stepped into a different world. It may not be for everyone, but at least it?s clear that the designers have put a lot of effort into it. Speaking of which, the voice acting is quite nice, and so is the soundtrack that accompanies the adventure. It really is an engaging adventure for HOPA enthusiasts. All in all, Witches' Legacy: Dark Days to Come is certainly going to keep you glued to the screen if you enjoy the genre, even if there are better examples out there. Hence, it?s polished enough to be engaging from start to finish, which is all that you can ask from a HOPA game. Thank you BigFish for continuing this popular and unique series!!! September 1, 2016
Surprising VERY fun game. Please try it. I never even considered trying the CE version. Just thought it was another monster type game. For some reason I played the trial version today and was delighted. There are some wacky characters and figures. Some very funny actions. It is a pleasure to just look at. Love the creativity that went into some of the designs. The music is also pretty good and fun and works with the game. Nothing about the game so far is particularly difficult but it is so much fun who cares. The story seems to be just another abduction tale. Nothing really different unless it changes somewhere. But again the fun factor overrides all of this. This review is based on the demo version. It seemed to end way too soon and I did not hesitate to immediately purchase the full version. One word of caution: if you are super serious and have no sense of humor you may not appreciate this. August 30, 2016
Good SE solid game I really didn't think I would enjoy this game but much to my delight I did! There's a LOT to do in these rich fantasy settings. The only think I don't like is the ferret.. I don't think she's cute, just annoying. My tastes in games run the gamut from fantasy to psychological thrillers. September 8, 2016
PURE FANTASY WITH CAPTIVATING VISUALS I reviewed the CE and gave it 4 stars also, simply because I'm not into this much fantasy; and the annoying talking ferret. It is very entertaining with lots of stuff to do, so click on everything. The imagination that went into the puzzles, making them interesting, both visually and challenging, is outstanding. I really like the storyline too, evil twin brother and sister who return to the real world to kidnap a girl in order to save their own world. Pretty good! August 28, 2016
Imaginative Game You and your ferret helper defeat the dark witches. You are taken to a magical dream land to solve fun puzzles and find hidden objects. A very clever game overall. Several times an object just falls off the "page" to be either played with or eaten by the ferret -- very cute. September 8, 2016
Transportable HOPs and Unsightly Mutants A winter game in midsummer? Ice crystals, snow, iced lakes and snowmen; ... the icy twins not only freeze the world, but also bring the seasonal flavors of baked apples, gingerbread houses and other Christmas knick-knack. Maybe Elefun thought that, in the dog days, we would estimate a cooling down :) I like the idea of the vicious ice twins. However, the characters remain a bit two dimensional, tedious, as if there was not enough time to flesh them out. Could also be due their dubbing voices which are somewhat less than perfect. Though, not only theirs. Whereas, for the design of our ferret helper Bertha was enough time ;) Bertha is in high spirits. She always sighed a bit coquettishly, now, she overdoes. Why has she to conjure a rabbit out of a hat? why to play percussion? Much disjointed swagger about nothing. At times amusing, too. I also marveled, why faces must be on every castle. Not make-believe faces with window eyes and alcove noses. Real human faces with those inevitable glowing eyes, protruding from the edifice, larger than life. Very peculiar architecture. Stranger than life for sure, but somehow even stranger than fantasy. Some of the bizarre creatures which we encounter in this adventure, could be the direct offspring of those hellish beasts in Bosch's Garden of Earthly Delights. But, unlike the painting, the game presents cobbled together, hideous mutations. An owl with rams horns and an ugly implant above the beak. A seal with neon shine spikes on its back and red, glowing eyes. A pain in the eyes. I wonder whether the devs strive to make their games dark and scary with those ridiculous ?monsters?. I'd classify them to the category unintentional fun. Although the mutation style sometimes works. The dimly lit moose head with slug horns, sheep's ears and two additional, nervously blinking spider eyes looks really weird and eerie. My favourite figure is the engineer wizard Embert, who has the looks of one of those hippy geeks from Silicon Valley in the Eighties. He must have an iron constitution, does not even wince when a full grown tree falls on his back. But wizards probably know how to reverse physical laws :) Be surprised: this is the game of the portable HOPs. They manifest from everywhere, are conjured out of the blue. We touch a cloth, and ? whoosh ? it wafts to the table in the middle of the room and becomes a Wishing Tablecloth. Or an oriental lamp which ? once polished - contains not only Aladdin in chains, but also a HOP where we find the keys to the chain locks. The magic lamp first appears at Embert's porch, later on the ship, somewhere completely else. These are genuine pocket HOPs! The snail ?seed? is another one, or the book in the bonus chapter. I've never seen transportable HOPs before. Thank you for this nice invention, Elefun. Puzzles are as always dead easy. What deters Elefun from setting up more challenge, I wonder. The bewitched librarian (the book) is a good example. We have to catch 10 falling letters and to avoid icicles. Disappointingly simple. Why not catch specific letters? Why not spell some long words without making a mistake? Regarding the soundtrack, it would be worth to spend a bit more time with puzzles. Of course, one can always intentionally produce mistakes, to prolong any puzzle. In the toy castle with the black and white furry creatures, I actually ended up shooting the good ones, lol. They squeak ?ohh!?, the black croak ?odd!? (ought?) in a different pitch ... thus I hit a white creature - then a black one - white, ohh - black, odd - ohh - odd - ohh - odd ? to the rhythm of the soundtrack Icy Wilderness. It's a killer. One of the highlights, so to say. Other highlights are the fanciful HOPs, all varied and multilayered. They unveil one surprise after the other, sometimes even little side stories. In the second HOP at the port, you absolutely must click the aesthetically challenged seal BEFORE you feed it. It responds with three different sounds. Real seal voices, utterly intriguing. The soundtrack contains 13 new tracks and one from Keeper of Antiques. After having heard them as downloads, I was amazed how differently they sounded within the game. They excellently fit into the particular puzzle or HOP; what I considered as peculiar beforehand, suddenly made sense. It's custom-tailored music. Within the giant flower, listen to the hollow sound of taking or placing puzzle pieces, and how seamlessly these ?sighs? blend into the background music. Or, when Bertha dives for crystal shards, enjoy the bubbly swing music from a drowned Wurlitzer, still operating after all these years under water ? Speaking of sound: Elefun's composer has a new fan site on Facebook. If you value Arkhipov's music, you can find him now under his artist name arhipco - and like his site :) This is not Elefun's best edition, but yet highly inventive and entertaining. Fun aplenty: from the color-changing chameleon to the singing tea kettle or the clever way to get rid of a ghost. Some said that this game is childish. Yes, it is. We are invited to giggle and to awaken our intrinsic child if we want immerse into this fantasy world. Believe me, it's worth it. The main game ends conclusive. The bonus is a sequel, we play as Annabel, and it is basically the same story again in a short version. If you want to know what you miss with the SE, read my review of the CE. September 9, 2016
Good Game But Too Easy This was a fun game but I like more of a challenge. I never used a hint or skipped a puzzle. I enjoyed the music; it really went along with the story. The main male voiceover was pretty poor. He sounded like he was just reading the lines. No emotion at all. I'm recommending this for those who like an easy, relaxing game. September 17, 2016
Fun-fun... What a satisfactory game, both in duration and in game-play. And also, the bonus game has a good length and it's own back-story. It can use some improvements, graphic-wise, but overall it's a pretty fun and lots-to-do HOG. October 29, 2016
Same old, same old Start off with a tragedy, bounce from one screen to another and back and forth looking for objects - no originality at all from other games of this genre - if we're going to be constantly inundated anymore with these doom, gloom and dreary games wish they'd come up with something original.
