Astonishing! The serie's "Mystery Trackers" already has a lot of games and for me it is astonishingly, how a serie such old can still bring about such fascinating and entertaining games as this one. For me it is one of the best of the whole serie's. I enjoyed playing it very much. I did love the story, which made me go on to find out, who is after all this and i loved the graphics, especially in the train and at the house and i did really enjoy the music as well. This to me is just a perfect game. Therefore: thanks, developers!!! October 9, 2016
My Vacation Has Been Ruined By Evil Doers! I don't need to track this mystery very far, the slow moving train derailed at the beginning and came to a screeching halt followed by derailment after the demo! Normally I'm a huge fan of the Mystery Trackers series, but these devs are going to have to dig a little deeper moving forward to get the series back on the right track. Right from the beginning, I found the tasks at hand to be monotonous at times as I had to search each train compartment for supposedly my own personal belongings that somehow ended up in some impossible places. I found it a bit bizarre that no matter how long it took me to do my thing in other compartments, each time I returned to my own cabin, I brushed passed a young girl scared out of her mind, peeking around the corner. Do I say, hey I'm on it, no worries? Do I say, hey why don't you hide, because at this point I have not yet discovered which "girl" the villains are after? Nope, I just walk past her with a trusty bottle of oil to fix the zipper of my own bag that I didn't bother to fix before departing, don't mind me sweetie, btw, have you seen my cool new device that can open any electronic lock? Well once I play a match 3 game of course! Then there's the TYPO's, oh dear my big eared proboscidea mammalia pachyderm what's up with that? Have you ever wondered how that's even possible? Surely someone or multiple someone's played the game through once it was completed, or at least one Beta tester from BF said, " hey, great game, tons of fun but these words don't make sense!?? Well, anywho, on the bright side, Elf hasn't retired yet and seems to be in really good health considering he's been working hard for six straight years. He needs this vacation as much as I do and he's dressed for the occasion wearing his Aloha Hawaiian button shirt and a Panama hat, clearly there's no fashion faux pas here. Your only tool for this job is the aforementioned electronic lock pick that can unlock any electronic lock, (unless it's been melted by the villain) and you will need to play a Match 3 game each time its used, matching the specific number of icons shown to the left. This is a very boring Match 3 game, and slow because you have to wait for all the action to stop before you can make another match, but the device isn't used that often so all's good. The Collector's Edition version has 32 collectible Jigsaw Puzzle pieces to assemble, as well as Morphing Objects and Monuments to find. Normally I love Morphs but I just wish the cursor wouldn't change to a hand whenever the cursor passes over the available morph. The CE also has Achievements to earn and both versions have plenty of Plus Sign inventory items to keep you busy. The Hidden Object Scenes are good, I have no complaints because they offer a variety of entertaining styles. Do you remember when the HO's in this series required you to switch back and forth using inventory items you found in the game to progress through the Hidden Object Scene? I loved that feature and wish they would incorporate that again, rut row was that a complaint? There are Interactive List Finds, Silhouetted Shape Finds, Multiple Finds, and even an interactive scene where you have to administer First Aid items to one of the passengers. There are also several Zoom Zone HOP's where you just have to find a handful of items. The Mini Games are awesome, mainly because of the famous Super Puzzles. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter during the demo as well as a few memorable puzzles from the main game: 1) Guide the star through the grid filling in all squares without overlapping. 2) Super Puzzles requiring you to tinker with several aspects of the game, without pulling out your hair. 3) Select the numbered arrows until only the three symbols in the code shown are lighted. One arrow moves the counter four to the left, the other moves the counter three to the right. 4) Rotate the gears so that the symbols inside the wire pulleys match. 5) Another Super Puzzle which will allow you to pull out some of your hair. 6) Rotate the central part of the mechanism and swap the elements to place them correctly. 7) Move the handle up and down to guide the key through the mechanisms as it constantly moves forward. 8) Find pairs of daggers with matching symbols on the blades. 9) Another hairbending Super Puzzle, nuff said. 10) Place the birds in the correct nests by moving them along highlighted routes. The Collector's Edition has 8 Wallpapers, 8 Concept Art pictures, 6 Music Soundtracks, 32 collectible Jigsaw Puzzle pieces, Morphing Objects, a Secret Room, 21 Achievements, a built in Strategy Guide and a Bonus Chapter! Think it's time to go back to the drawing board with this series. BASED ON THE DEMO OF COLLECTOR'S EDITION I really wanted to like this game. I have several of the previous ones in the series. I have purchased more than 250 games here at Felix's playground and Elephant games are some of my favorite ones of all time. But, I sincerely feel that the storyline and level of creativity where this series is concerned has reached a low peak. There is a lot of back and forth to complete tasks and to gather items. Some of those make very little sense. Elf is always present and is probably one of the best features of this game. Mini-games had very little challenge to them, tasks were at times predictable and, at others, seemed to be designed to just fill time. I'll always be among the first to try new games in this series. I just hope that they go back to the drawing board, replay the early games, and get back to the former glory. It's not a bad game, just not up to the "Mystery Trackers" standards. As always, try the demo. My opinion is just that.....my opinion! While I will continue to recommend the Mystery Trackers series, and always the Elephant gang of developers, this one will not be going onto my "wish list". August 26, 2016
If I am on vacation, why do I have a dossier on missing children? Penmom63 says it all. The Mystery trackers Devos need to up their game. It wasn`t so bad, but not that good. You are supposedly on vacation on a train, when your collegue says something is wrong, you of course investigate and find several 'creatures' destroying doors (icing them up, melting them, etc.) and kidnapping several children. I only played the demo so this is what I found: several HO scenes, one: obtain several objects of the same, such as 2 horseshoes, 2 medal, etc. another was find the items. There was one supposedly HO scene (it had sparkles, so I assumed it was a HO scene) but you had to apply fist aid to an injured father, and had to do it in a specific order. There was about 5 different puzzles and 2 were a match game where you needed to obtain 20 sets of 3 different items, such as lightning bolts, plugs, etc. This was too easy, as there wasn`t any sort of time frame or diffulcty.(?) Can`t seem to spell today. Other(s), one was turn a wheel and set a course for a train to travel on. Another was make matches with same color train on triangles, and you have to rotate the triangles and I really don`t like those kinds of puzzles, so I tried and then just skipped that one. I know, I complain about games being to easy, but I just dislike those rotating triangles, so , whatever. There was 4 types of game mode, I did the custom (or detective mode) and adjusted the skip and HO penalty modes. Music was ok. Didn`t really notice it that much. You get a jump map right off the bat, and that helps, you have to do some stuff (as usually) to free Elf and he does help you. Try before you buy and maybe it will be your cup of tea, but I might just wait until it becomes a DD. It`s not a bad game and goes with the rest of the Mystery Trackers group, but not my cup of tea. If you buy say hello to Elf, as he is still around to help out. August 26, 2016
Wanted to love it - but First, I have to say I love this series. I have them all. This installment was not very good. It was SHORT [less than 2 hours]. And I played slow. I bought the SE and glad I did not spend the extra money on the CE. The story line had a lot of potential but never went anywhere. It was as if the creators were just tired of this series. The graphics / design were very good no complaints there. I was ready for another Elf detective adventure and this was not to be. August 27, 2016
What Happened to this Series! This is posted after playing the entire game. Yes, even with the mediocre reviews and playing the demo, I bought it. Guess I'm a sucker for a sale. It was an okay game. Nothing to write home about, but it passed a few hours of time. Wasn't the most involving game, but not the worse I've played either. I do believe I have every game in this series, and this one will go down as my least favorite. Perhaps the developers are tiring of the theme. I hate to see the series end, but if they can't do better on the next one, perhaps it is time to retire it. The graphics were very good and the sound, including voice overs, were excellent. Really liked the music. Colors were bright and pleasant. Nothing really new in the hidden objects or mini games. Hidden object games were well done. Some were well hidden which caused a few minutes of hunting to find. It did seem like there were a lot of silhouettes, my least favorite or it could be my dislike for them made it seem like there were more. Mini games were mini games. Not my favorite, but I did complete several of them. The story never did grab me like some do. Perhaps it was the supernatural aspect that turned me off. As so many have mentioned this theme is getting really old, and maybe that's why I did't care for it, but I wasn't sad to see it end. As I said, this is an okay game. Give the demo a try and perhaps it will be right up your alley. It missed my street, but I'm just one person. Happy gaming. September 6, 2016
Mediocre in Comparison This was unfortunately the worst of the Mystery Tracker series, all of which I have bought in the past. I will not be buying this one. The graphics especially and story line were mediocre in comparison. Its not a bad game, but I think you need to go back to the drawing board and get back to how you used to do great games........Sorry August 28, 2016
Disappointing The story line was not interesting and the games were unimaginative. I love the Mystery Tracker series but this one is a disappointment. I hope they get back on track with the next one. August 27, 2016
