Defense of Egypt is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Kind of Game I Wish For I get very bored with the hidden object games, but those are what is most available so OK I play them. This is the kind of game I wait for. It has kept me entertained for weeks. I love it. Challenging! Fun! I saw someone else couldn't figure out how to deal with the gear upgrades. I get that. An earlier game with the same kind of play confused me, but I eventually figured it out. She/he is right. There should be more explanation, but finding out how to upgrade is part of the fun. I love it!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Strat Game There are few strategy games I enjoy, they are often too easy for too long and then become too hard or just over complicated but I do like this one. The storyline lacks something but I've come across worse HOPs for storylines. The game starts at a reasonable level of difficulty, it doesn't spoon feed you but if you pay attention to the tips and the story from the start they are really helpful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Defense Game I loved Defense of Greece, so this second installment was an instant buy for me. You play a typical tower defense game, placing weapons to ward off the invaders. Defense of Egypt lets you play previous levels so you can keep winning jewels to power up. You can improve your weapons by buying higher-level gears OR collecting two gears of the same level and reworking them to the next higher level. (Example: two 6 gears can be combined to form one 7.) Along the way, Cleopatra and the muscled dog-face dude give you challenges: improve gears, cut down trees, get three stars. This wins you even more money. Some of the levels are so devious I've had to replay them several times, upgrading my gears and purchasing extra weapons to win. And as for those side-challenge levels - Holy Cow. I'm still trying to beat them. Overall, this is a fun defense game. As one reviewer said, the directions aren't clear. But hop on the forums, play around with the gears, and you'll find gameplay is addictive!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great sequel At last a follow on from defense of Greece. This is more challenging than the first one which is good but I would reccomend starting with the first one which is easier but still a challenge. Once you have worked out the way the game works with the upgrading of the gears then it is fun and a challenge. I have played defense of Greece many times and loved that, now this is even more of a challenge which I love but as said earlier I reccomend getting the first one before you tackle this

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Harder than the first one So glad that a new game came out that was not a hidden object (again). This one is a challenge compared to the first one. I am enjoying it with a wee bit of frustration but that is what keeps you playing over and over to get 3 stars on each level. I bought it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from THE ROMANS ARE COMING! THE ROMANS ARE COMING! The Legions of Rome are evading Egyptian boarders, Cleopatra and Anthony have made their orders clear: "throw the Romans back into the sea" I love the Egyptian themed graphics, and the storyline that goes with it, as Egypt tries to defend it's borders from the Romans who seek to own everything and everyone! I have to admit that this isn't the easiest Tower Defense to navigate, and it has a few game flaws that bogg the game play, but once you get the hang of it, it's a really addicting game. The biggest problem I had, was that I had to be very specific where I clicked, otherwise nothing would happen. I have a large screen which caused this game to stretch a little too far, and some of the icons were barely visible on the right side of the screen. If I would have taken the time to adjust my monitors screen resolution, it probably would have solved this problem. The goal of this game is simple, you click on available Towers and choose which weapon to build on it in order to keep the Roman enemies from reaching the city. As the enemy is destroyed, you will collect coins and diamonds which allows you to upgrade the weapons. You can improve your tools in the workshop by choosing gears and improving them, and you can buy defense weapons to join the fight personally by throwing lightning, granades, meteroids etc. There are bonus levels you can play at anytime, and side quests are given to you by Cleopatra and Anthony, that will reward you with diamonds when the quests are complete. Although this game has it's flaws, and is a bit difficult to navigate through, it is a decent TD game well worth overlooking the flaws, enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Harder than Defense of Greece This game plays almost exactly like Defense of Greece except it's harder. It took me a long time to build up my machines and I never did figure out why I could suddenly use the extra weapons that were listed off to the left side of the screen. Basically, you have to defeat the enemy by building better and better machines. There are four basic machines and each has a different function. Figuring out where to use each machine is part of the strategy. I had to play a lot of levels over and over before my machines were strong enough to advance. This was frustrating. In the Greece version, it moved a lot easier and I would recommend that if you are starting this series. There are no specific directions for how to play the game but if you click around on the different screen options you should be able to figure it out. There is an area that tells you what machines will defeat certain presentations of the enemy. I played this game a long time to just get through it. I was able to get through the Greece version faster and played it twice to see how I'd do once I learned how to play it. I will not replay this version, it was just too slow to advance my ability to upgrade weapons.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from One of a kind, oasis of strategy games.. Very exciting on this game, great tactical casual game. The only complaint is just about the graphics.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Perhaps this game is fun for people familiar with the series. I found trying to figure it out almost impossible. There is a bizarre system of "gears" that apparently upgrades your guns. The explanation for this system is almost non-existent, and I couldn't understand it at all. The very first level is so difficult that in spite of depleting all my plus-ups I couldn't win it. Um, that just shouldn't happen on the very first level of a game. Typically, developers understand that the first level is where people are figuring the game out. This is especially so when a game has a tutorial as dismally unhelpful as this game. To top it off, the music has two volumes, ear-splittingly loud or off. Playing this game was unpleasantly annoying, and I do not recommend it.
