Dad? Is That You? You had no idea what fate had in store for you on this stormy night. It may have been your eyes playing tricks on you, it may have been bad luck, it may have been Fate, whatever it was, IT was standing in the middle of the road. You swerved, and lost control of the car, punching through the guardrail which sent you careening over the side of the rocky cliff, surely to your own demise! That's the good news, the bad news, someone or something took it upon themselves to drag your limp, lifeless, unconscious body from the scene of the crash, to a very old, dilapidated, abandoned building. This is no ordinary dilapidated building, this is Silent Waters Hotel, and this Hotel is home to a very malevolent spirit! It soon becomes clear that checking out of this Haunted Hotel, isn't in the cards, just ask any of the haunted guests, they'll tell you they died trying! Haunted Hotel may have hit a bump in the road with the last game, but I can assure you Silent Waters is one of the best Haunted Hotel yet! You'd better play this game with the lights on, because this game has it all, spiders and plenty of webs, creepy crawly bugs, gargoyles that move, pictures that come alive, things that go bump in the night, and spirits coming out of the walls. If that doesn't freak you out, keep playing and catch a glimpse of the spirits meeting their demise. I bought this game in the Collector's Edition because there's no doubt the CE gives you your money's worth, with 22 Morphing Objects, 29 Hotel Crest Collectible pieces, and a wonderful array of items to brighten the Music Room, (if the ghost's would just leave them alone that is) and of course plenty of Achievements to earn. The Hidden Object Scenes are fantastic! Each one is different, all of them are fun and entertaining. There are Interactive list finds, Progressive Silhouetted Shape finds, uncovering Pairs of items, Finding Fragments, and even Zoom Zone puzzles with Multiples of the same item to find. My favorite was the shapeshifting HOP where you had to find listed items when they were in the correct form. The scenes take place in really creepy locations too! The Mini games are fresh and just as entertaining. Below are brief descriptions of some of the games you'll encounter in the demo, and some of my favorites from the main game: 1) Move the buttons into the correct positions based on their color. 2) Guide the ball to the bottom right using arrows to rotate the tiles and arrows to move the ball. 3) Place flowers in the correct spots based on outlines. 4) Place elements correctly in a diary. 5) Move dials to correct positions based on the clues, one affects others. 6) Pull down angels in the correct order, finding three specific combinations. 7) Rotate the stars so that each circle is the same color. 8) Create a path by rotating pipe tiles. 9) Make a lever according to the picture. Use levers and knobs to select the appropriate drill bits where they are placed and the depth they go. 10) Shoot a slingshot by stopping the horizontal and vertical sliders when they are in the red zone of the meters. There are three different shots to take and each time, the red meter become smaller and smaller. 11) Arrange the pipe pieces inside a grid so that they all fit without overlapping. 12) Keep the temperature as close to the center as possible using directional arrows. 13) Swap horizontal and vertical lines so that all the dots are filled in, by swapping the lines. Choose the button to check your progress. 14) Figure out which skulls to lift and in which order. The Collector's Edition has 22 Morphing Objects, 13 Collectibles for the Music Room, 29 Hotel Crest Emblems, 10 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art pictures, 1 Screensaver, 4 Music Soundtracks, Achievements, a Souvenir Room, 13 replayable Hidden Object Games, 16 replayable Mini Games, a built in Strategy Guide, and a Bonus Chapter, hope you packed your bags, you're going to be there for a long time, enjoy! A PERFECT GAME JUST IN TIME FOR HALLOWEEN This game is perfect for the upcoming cool Fall season, and the kids favorite October event of Halloween. When those of us who love things that go BUMP in the night, or feel a cool breeze when entering a room, or better yet, feel something brush up against us, only to find that there is nothing there. The beginning scene takes you right into the thick of things. From the realistic sound of the rain pelting down against your car, to something appearing in front of you causing you to lose control of your car. The graphics are so realistic in this game. From the distinct shine of your black shoes and gray pants, (seen as your body is being dragged) to the many dark, dank scenes in the hotel. What I thought was rather neat, was while you were choosing the mode of the gameplay, you hear a very eerie, mysterious voice talking and threatening you. This has never been done before (at least that I can recall). The music was typical: eerie, scary, and spooky. Just the right kind that you find in all of the Haunted Hotel games. The HOS are your typical variety. There was a lot of 'alive' things in the Hotel whenever you clicked on them. From broken, crumbling walls, to ghosts that suddenly appear. You never know what kind of reaction you're going to get whenever you click on something. The puzzles/mini-games weren't very difficult with a good variety and were somewhat on the fun side. Give the demo a try. If you like the other Haunted Hotel games in this series, you will like this one. If you like to play dark and dreary games, like to be scared, like ghosts, spiders and spiderwebs, a rat or two, and things that interact with you, then this game is for you. Enjoy :) October 16, 2016
Not Your Mamma's Hotel This is posted after playing the entire game. If you are a fan of the Haunted Hotel series, this one is either going to disappoint or thrill you to death. I found it to be so much different than the previous games in the series. It was fun, but really different in how it was presented. That's not all bad, but kind of a shock to the system... :-) I was a tad bit disappointed in the graphics. It was really dark, which is to be expected I suppose, but it was more so than anything previous. Drawings were just that, drawings, but well done. Sound, including voice overs were well done and the music as well as the effects went along with the action in the scene. Hidden objects varied from the list to a bit interactive to silhouettes, my least favorite kind. They did keep my interest throughout. Mini games were also varied. Not much we haven't seen before, but with a twist here and there. Most were past my patience level or I didn't understand what I had to do. I like to think I have at least an average intelligence, but for the life of me I couldn't figure some of them out. You know where they have a different game if you don't want to play hidden objects, I wish they would do that with mini games. There is an interactive map which I found to be a necessity. There is a lot of back and forth so the transport and identification of locations where something was to be done, really helped out. This is a big ol' hotel not counting the out areas. There are several options for difficulty which I chose custom so as to set the hint and skip to their lowest level. While the story seemed to bounce around some, it was pretty good in the continuity department. It comes together in the end so that's about all that really matters, I guess. All in all it is a good game. I want to go back and play another of the series to see how much different this one really is. Give the demo a try and I think, if you are into ghosts and such, you'l really like it. October 19, 2016
Not up to "Haunted Hotel" standards While I found the art in this Haunted Hotel series entry to be above average, it has, in more than a few scenes, a "hurried" look. Perhaps a production person was on vacation and the details were left to an intern or something; the game seems to me to have been released without a quality control person determining whether a game is FUN to play. And so I was disappointed in "Silent Waters," but you may really like it. One person's trash... October 19, 2016
GO AWAY SAYS IS PERFECTLY Go away! Well I couldn?t run away from this dreadful game fast enough so those bodiless voices wouldn?t have to repeat that warning more than once to have me running out the door. I so agree with another reviewer who wonders what happened to this once terrific series. I guess with a few spiders, cobwebs, a deteriorating rat trap hotel, and a few floating ghosts the developer must think this latest Haunted Hotel will be enough to attract sales. Well not so in my case! I felt like I needed to get up and take a shower after playing the demo. What a terrible game. I guess the only saving grace is that, according to some comments, it is a very short game. The graphics are dingy and dark and the game is loaded with roaches, spiders, rats and all other sorts of nasty critters. The voiceovers are okay if you like the ghostly whisperings we hear throughout the scenes. The HOPS were fairly typical of this developer as are the mini-games. I wasn?t inclined to purchase the game or play more than just a short while before I knew the game wasn?t one I would care to purchase, so I can?t comment on why types of HOPS or puzzles are included later in the game. I am sure there will be a variety of challenge with the puzzles as the game progresses and I am sure there something to keep everyone happy ? that is if you happen to like the game well enough to play longer than I did. Honestly, the Haunted Hotel series at one time had games that I loved but Silent Waters just didn?t have enough entertainment value to entice me to open my wallet and add this one to my collection. Many of you out there swimming in the pond will undoubtedly love this game so it is good to see that the developer has provided something different than most of the fantasy type games that have become standard fare in recent years. I happen to enjoy some good mysteries and even a bit of ghost chasing so I am not sure exactly why this game didn?t ring my bell. I don?t know if it was all the cobwebs and spiders or if it was a storyline that didn?t make a lot of sense but something about the game put me off. Even though I didn?t care for the game, as always, please try the demo to see if this is a game you will enjoy because I guess you know by now that I sure didn?t like it. October 16, 2016
Frustrating special effects When the scenes were darkened, I did not have an even chance at solving the puzzles. I chose the option to limit the special effects but it would still go back to blacking out the scenes. It just became a guessing game for me not utilizing puzzle solving skills. October 20, 2016
