Rescue Quest Gold is rated 2.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from refreshing variation on match 3 I really don't understand the negative reviews on this one. I bought this game on a free coupon and I am having a lot of fun with it. Yes some levels are challenging, but they are doable once you know wich path to follow and probably with the use of some bonusses. My only con is that the gametiles could have been made prettier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic game so misunderstood. This game is awesome. Reading some of the reviews I almost didn't try for myself. Even after trying I thought it might be difficult but once I learned the mechanics of movement and more about the obstacles that were NOT detailed in the directions I started loving this game. I think it's the best match 3 ever. I'll try and clear up some of the misunderstandings in this review but first why I think it's great . This game has so many levels . I think if you love strategy, mazes and cute characters you will love this game. It is most similar to Hello Venice but not a duplicate. I love this much better because it is swipe instead of click and drag. Also I love the characters and it has an actual story which is rare for a match 3. Freeing the Spritlings is so much fun. All the obstacles once you know how to remove or avoid them feels rewarding once accomplished because you are going somewhere, not just clearing a board. Also adding items on the board to collect is innovative, they do not have to drop off; you just need to clear the path to them and get your avatar to fetch. This is a NEW game and must have been changed from collector's edition, also new, to SE. It is well worth the buy and you should ignore the not so good reviews. Either bugs have been fixed-they do say REMASTERED- or perhaps people were too quick to review and not in the mood for a strategy match 3 or unfamiliar with the mechanics. I do wish sometimes all match 3's had two options to play unlimited for times when you just want to swipe, but that's when I play another game. My recommendation is don't just try, buy. You will be glad when you get the hang of it. Goals of game. You choose your avatar either ZAP or BOOM and lead him/her to free the Spritlings. The goals are clear and needs no explanation. You know at beginning of level and it's posted in the top corner of board. ALL goals must be completed before level ends even if you free the Spritlings. Movement: Your avatar moves only when the tiles underneath them are broken. You will see blue water flow through board if path is clear. Let your mouse rest on Zap or Boom and you can easily see token underneath them. Remember dark tiles need two matches to clear. When starting out you will see arrow pointing to the SHORTEST path. You can start breaking the tiles in this direction or if you see an EASIER path then just clear the path you prefer. The arrow will AUTOMATICALLY redirect once path is clear. There is no need to double click token to change direction. Just ignore the avatar and follow the water flow. Picking up items AND redirecting: Sometimes your avatar will PASS items if not directly in cleared path. If so, you must guide them by changing direction. It is a little quirky and sometimes you must try different tokens around them MORE THAN ONCE. This is the only problem I found but is minor. There is no timer so ok if occasionally takes a bit to make them follow your direction. The automatic arrow will DISAPPEAR. Clicking on ANOTHER token that is in the direction you want them to go that is the SAME COLOR they are standing on works best if going in a straight line , OR clicking token a few times somewhere NEAR them if going up, down or turning around. Remember, ALL THE PATH MUST BE CLEAR and only one direction at a time. Moves are not counted moving avatar. Only redirecting by double clicking erases the automatic arrow so if after picking up item they just wait, continue with clearing path to cages and don't worry about them unless you need to pick up another item, you'll need to guide them unless arrow reappears, Playing all parts of the board: You are not limited to only play where your avatar is standing. Best strategy is to look around board to clear path where matches are available and it will trigger cascades sometimes freeing up your blockage or collecting mana for your hammer by matching green tokens. Then you can go back and unblock path. The zoom is ideal for this purpose and I had no problem with control. I do have the wheel on my mouse. They also have arrows on board if you click will take you in that direction. Power ups: Powerful, use them, makes game so much more fun. They really can clear a path and make all the difference. Especially the multicolor which removes all tokens of same color you swipe it with, and this one does NOT need to be included in a match 3. yippie Obstacles: BLOCKERS : The heart blockers must fill with specific color matches you make that are in the VICINITY. They start out empty but if you hover mouse over blocker the board will turn the color that is needed. This is very helpful since limited moves. And it doesn't have to be a match right next to them. ROCKS: do need matches, any color, next to them to break. I prefer to take a different route if you see BOULDERS. I'm hoping they will have a boulder breaker power up in later levels because it takes quite a few before they are broken. The IMP: he must be STANDING on the match to injure repeatedly or caught up in a cascade to kill. Don't waste moves; he might move directly on a match. WHEN to kill him is the strategy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value! This game is pretty challenging; you have to make good use of the power ups to get through most of the levels. It's a good game to play for 10 or 20 minutes while taking a break. I bought it two days ago and still have lots of levels to complete.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from AT LEAST THIS VERSION MAKES MORE SENSE I love a good Match 3 game, my favorites are the Cradle of Rome series, Lauraville, and Jewel Match Royale. I also love it when the devs think outside the box to give us new features, some are fantastic features, and others just don't enhance the game, they make it less enjoyable. Rescue Quest Gold has one of those features that are more aggravating than enhancing. You can drag the board around, and zoom in and out, which in itself isn't all that bad, but for whatever reason, the board would zoom in and out all by itself at random times, and I was constantly having to readjust the boards position. Another feature that really annoyed me, was having to hear "move here" every time I wanted my Avatar to move in a different direction. This is a Swap type Match 3 game, with Limited Moves and Time restrictions. Each level has the same goal, to make matches strategically, so that a path is cleared for the Avatar to reach and release the Spritelings. If the chosen path isn't necessarily the best route, you have to double-click tokens to make the avatar blaze a new path, and as I said, it can get annoying. Matches of 4 or more tokens will earn you a Slash Token on the board to slash several tokens, matches of 5 or more tokens in an L or T formation will earn a Bomb token, and a match 5 in a row earns a Wild Token that removes several same colored tokens. As you progress you will unlock powerups that can destroy tiles in a column or row. Darker tiles require multiple matches to destroy them. I'm sure this colorful game will be a hit for many gamers, but for me, it was boring and had too many annoying features that outweighed the entertaining features. I really didn't see a need to pay twice as much money for a Match 3 game in a Collector's Edition just to get 12 Wallpapers, 10 Concept Art pictures, 8 Music Soundtracks, 56 Achievements and 10 Avatar pictures, so if I had to choose one or the other, I suppose this Standard Edition would be the better path to the cage, so to speak!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from A tiresome game Rescue Quest is a copy of an older (and better!) Match 3 game called Da Vinci's Secret. The game-play formula is simple: clear a path towards a goal by matching similar gemstones. You match more than three, you get power-ups. You progress in the game, power-ups get stronger. The main issue I have with this game is the very low difficulty bar. As you progress, the levels stay the same, with minor nuisances added to make you do more moves. The time restriction isn't even felt. Another problem is, at least for me, the very bright color choice and the annoying and recurrent sounds. Graphics, overall, need some polish. I overall would not recommend it, because it's boring and tiresome.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Too 'limited' for me. With a cute storyline to keep me engrossed in playing the game, I am off to free the spritling fairies. Graphics are good, clear, colors beautiful. Music is appropriate fairy type music (smile) with sound fx that don't annoy. It's a match 3 (M3) game that totally involves you in how to win. Besides matching against limited moves and time, there is a path you need to follow. However, the shortest path, or designated game path, is not always the best path. Good thing you can create your own. I had a bit of a problem with this to begin with. I like my M3 games to be enjoyable and, above all, relaxing. IMHO this game misses that mark. Not only am I trying to plan a route for my little fighter to follow to get to the spritelings, I am working against limited moves, which is not my greatest forte. Too much thinking for this player, so it won't be a buy for me. For those who enjoy the complexity of this type of M3 ..... Enjoy!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Second time release? Why was this game released for a second time as a new game?

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT A GAME FOR ME Making a path as you go, you have a set amount of moves to get to your target. Nice music and visuals. Not a normal match three game, I didn't like having to retry & retry if you failed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a new release. This is not a new release. When I downloaded and started the game, I found I was on level 13, and my player name was already entered as one I've just started using. Buyer Beware.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a Game I enjoyed I've tried this type game several years ago and was annoyed by the game play then, as well. You need to clear a path for the "hero" to get to the cage to free the sparkles, but you have a limited number of turns. The turns are made like a match 3 style game, but you're never sure if you've cleared the path until the dust clears. And it's hard to find matches along the path to move the little guy on his way. But try it, maybe you'll enjoy it. . .
