Make room for this one in your game collection! This is one of the oddest and most intriguing games. The mechanic is totally different from any other game BFG sells. The developers definitely have an attitude -- the commentary in the game is edgy, tongue in cheek. The game is tough, but doable. It's been available for over 3 years, but if you haven't tried it, check it out! January 13, 2012
you will love it. I have this game on my nintendo ds and have no problem with the visual as far as game enjoyment. It's basically a moving block puzzler but so much more...(your character moves within the rooms too#. Your goal is rearranging the different rooms to try and excape through the "door" room. Each room has different objects in them to make it possible for your character to travel or gain entry into other rooms, the challenge is getting your character into and out of them and also the rooms themselves rearrange like a sliding puzzle. It is simple game operation but challenging enough to keep your intrest for hours at a time. It has great replay value too. It never gets boring with all the objects and scenarios that are introduced. Lots of levels and a few different locations to explore with a great storyline #good humor) and objects you must obtain to go further in the game . It also has challenge to finish in less moves giving you gold rating. A great strategy game WITHOUT having to battle monsters so you can stay relaxed with great satisfaction in solving each level. It is a very unique gameplay and I hope they keep developing more of this kind. I highly recommend. February 18, 2013
Loved it! This is a different kind of game, and I was ready to play something different. The game starts out easy, and gets progressively more difficult as you move on. One of the good things about the game is that they explain when something is different in a room, and how to use it. This is a game that made me really think at times. I love the HO games, but I like them because a good number of them are rather 'mindless', and I play to relax. If you like puzzles, you won't be disappointed in this game! January 3, 2012
Great Game! I loved the challenge of this game.I've never seen or played anything like it before.Hopefully we'll see more like it soon. October 22, 2012
WISH THERE WERE MORE LIKE IT! I was sorry to see this great game end! It is different and challenging, which makes it fun. You know there's a solution, you just have to find it in your brain. Unlike other games where you have to find a certain object, here you have to find the solution, which leaves you with a real sense of accomplishment when you solve a level.. I wish they would make a sequel or that there were more sliding puzzle games like it. This is definitely an untapped market. If anyone knows of a similar puzzle, please let me know! Thanks! HOURS of play, excellent challenge I really love a game that makes me think. Sometimes I do get a bit overwhelmed with this one, but as someone else said - the challenges start our easier, and as each new element is added they explain how it works. This game REALLY requires the ability to imagine future results and you try to get through to the final room with a door. I am currently in the stage where I need to explode through a wall but simultaneously need to get out of the exploding room in time not to 'end myself'. When you get tired of the HOG or simpler puzzles, come and workout your brain.... prevent Alzheimer's here!! :D Highly recommend. (Prepare for some frustration, AND great satisfaction!!) The ultimate sliding puzzle game You either like sliding puzzles or you don't. If you don't, this game is not for you. But if you do, this game is the ultimate. With variations involving keys, subways, teletransporters, mirrors, one sided doors, explosives, and ladders, you wil have the time of you life. August 20, 2013
Unique, Creative, and Challenging Puzzle Game!!! Rooms: The Main Building Review based on completed game (played and replayed) PREFACE? Years after its release, Rooms: The Main Building remains in a class by itself...unique, creative, and original. If you like puzzle games that truly make you think, along with excellent game mechanics, a variety of music, realistic graphics, and tongue-in-cheek movie and literature references, you'll love this. ONCE UPON A TIME... It's your birthday, and you're looking for something different to do. Suddenly, there's a knock on your door. When you open it, there's a gift on your doorstep from someone you don't know. It contains a unique puzzle, and you're instantly transported to Rooms Street to begin your adventure. PLAY THE GAME... Each scene consists of a number of rooms, one of which has an exit. You must correctly configure the rooms and get to the exit...but there are obstacles to overcome. Some rooms have golden walls, floors, and/or ceilings through which you cannot pass. Others are filled with water which you must drain, or are on fire which you must extinguish. You also have a number of devices to help you. Several are paired transporters. The telephones move you between them like in the movie The Matrix. There are Narnian wardrobes as well. And buses and subways. Some rooms have ladders. SIGHTSEEING? The graphics combine photographed backgrounds with photoreal elements in a charming vignette. The interface, which includes the menu, help, and background reveal buttons, is a whimsical mobile. The story is present is comic book format. SOUND WAVES? The music varies from the main theme, which is reminiscent of the Harry Potter theme in its majesty and mystery, to upbeat jazzy numbers. There are no voiceovers. Environmental sounds are quite realistic. Game sounds are bells in varying tones. TOOLBOX? Each of the four mansions has its own map and, while the game is mostly linear, you do have some choices. The help manual is done well. And the background button does two things for you. If you click on it, it shows you the final configuration of rooms in the scene. If you hover over it, it shows you the backgrounds of the rooms without the items in them, so you can get an idea of how they fit together. WORKING THINGS THROUGH? Basically, you simply click where you want to go. If you want to move a room, hover outside the room in the direction you wish to go and an arrow will appear...click it. Items can be collected by clicking on them, and your inventory is accessed by clicking on your character. EXTRA, EXTRA? While this isn't a CE, there are extras! There are "challenger" levels that are super hard, and you can actually create and play your own levels. Additionally, you are awarded performance trophies. THE LAST WORD? I rarely give out five stars...you can check my profile. This game deserves them for originality, creativity, gameplay, music, graphics, fun factor, and level of challenge. If you do like it, there is an online version that preceded this called simply "Rooms." It's well worth playing, too. There's also a sequel which I hope BFG will offer for both Mac and PC (hint, hint). May 15, 2015
