Westward III: Gold Rush 4.1 5 8 8
This series just gets better and better! Build a city, help your neighbors, take care of the bad guys and find gold. Though not my usual type of game I love this series and have had all of them for a long time. The replay ability is very high. Yes there is a timer as mentioned but only for the certain elements in each chapter and these are optional. Then you will be given many tasks that you will do at your own leisure. This is not a TM game in the strict sense. Play as a woman or a man. The characters through out the story all have something to say and are actually quite funny. Go ahead...poke them. This game is also one with LOTS of easter eggs. Each time I play I discover hidden places or items. This is one to keep on your desktop and return to anytime. I recommend you give it a try. A game to get lost in! This game is such a great escape. It's easy to become your character and live the life of being in the wild west during the Gold Rush! :) I've gone back to replay a few times over the years - it's like reliving an adventure. I wish there were more like this! June 2, 2012
love it I just wish Big Fish would come out with more games in this series, Instead of all the murder and evil spirits etc. that all the new games are about. I own all the westwards and would love more of them. They are and intense game with a awesome story line. May 9, 2015
Another great westward game This series is awesome! Really love the old west storyline in this one. June 18, 2012
Back for my 8th replay! I own all the westward games and replay them once or twice a year. This is my favourite, and I'm back to play again. The gameplay is unique, and challenging and the best part is you have complete control over your town designs, activities and the order you do your tasks. Awesome game, it's a shame there aren't more like it. October 22, 2015
I am just a bitter gamer.... Even though this is the third game, it was the first one I ever bought. I like the premise of the game but even as a seasoned gamer, in all aspects, I still couldn't get the hang of it. It isn't a bad game, per say, it just seems really hard for what it is. I couldn't get the hang of the game play nor could I work out how to not die, again, and again, and again. In fact, maybe I just completely stink at Westward and should give up, but definitely give it a try. It's fun and challenging, and if I didn't stink at it so much it would of got 5 stars easily. Well done but too frustrating The graphics are great. Rotating and zooming the screen are a terrific feature. The sweeping western music gets repetitive but can be muted. Game play involves completing several quests that require various resources and people. The developers did an amazing job with the game. It's very long. Unfortunately, at least for me, the quests are not intuitive. I couldn't complete most of them without a walk through. I don't like using a walk-through. I play games to use my mind. I can usually figure things out. Two of the quests, earthquake valley and haunted town, were impossible for me and I gave up the game. Something I very rarely do. I may go back and try again. Or not. I know it's difficult for developers to walk the thin line between challenging and frustrating but, for me, this game failed. Someone else might really enjoy it but buyer beware. The first hour is much easier than the rest of the game. October 28, 2015
NOT MY KIND OF GAME I don't enjoy strategy or time management games. I played 12 minutes of the demo and had all the frustration I could handle so I uninstalled it. My low rating is based solely on my own aversion to these types of games and not on the quality of this particular game within its own genre for people who like these kinds of games. So I am neither recommending nor not recommending this game. Glad I played the demo before deciding to purchase it, which I didn't. July 20, 2015
