Twisted Lands: Shadow Town Collector's Edition 3.2 5 18 18
Truly Twisted This game is true to its title "twisted" with lots of turns, items to find and challenges. Problems with HINT, it froze, so I used Ctrl - Alt - Delete, the hour glass came up then the came was alright until the trial ended. This game is definitely a buy. . . . once all the glitches are taken care of. . . . . . . Lovin it July 4, 2012
One of the best! Twisted Lands: Insomniac is the sequel to this game, so I highly recommend that one along with this. These 2 and Stray Souls are my favorites in the Hidden Object genre. Great stories, they are dark and draw you in well. The art is great, nice and crisp, no problems with items being too obscure to recognize like in some games. This is also one of the few that I would say it's pretty worth it to get the collector's edition for the extra game play. It's not a whole lot of extra gameplay, but it was enough for me to feel it was worth it. November 22, 2011
This is one of favs to play! I love this game and Twisted Lands; Insomniac. This game is challenging! There is back and forth, but it does not bother me. I love having to remember where to go and what to do with the items in your inventory. This game makes you think, which is lacking in the games coming out lately! August 17, 2014
Entertaining Hidden Object Game A fairly enjoyable game, although it does have some flaws. The storyline was intriguing even though there were some gaps. The graphics were excellent, really sharp & clear, & I found the puzzles & mini-games challenging, but not frustrating. The games main flaw is the incessant backtracking, often across the entire map to find things to make the game progress, at times excessive to the point of frustration. Also, without giving anything away, the game ending was also a little strange, as it left many questions unanswered, hopefully these are followed up in the sequel. December 4, 2011
Great adventure, except for Bonus game This game has good graphics and ambient audio. The music is on a short loop, i.e. a short piece of music that constantly repeats. Fog is everywhere, making it hard to know where to go, but there are little maps that you find, and they help. HOS and puzzles are fairly easy. There is a lot of back and forth. You find yourself on an uncharted island, next to your small, crashed yacht, but you can't remember what happened. You don't see your girlfriend, so you set off to find/rescue her. Along the way, it becomes clear that a strange force was changing people in the past, making them behave in irrational ways. And it is that irrational behavior that colors the entire game, including the end. But, the bonus game is a real bust, and it has nothing to do with the main game. In the main game, people were changed, but still alive and conscious, just thinking in a different way. But in the bonus game, they're none of that. Developers got lazy with the plot. There are still good puzzles and HOS, but if you like a good story, stick with the standard edition. If you get stuck in the fog, the hint button will take you through it. June 19, 2012
average game Not a bad game. Lots of going back and forth. I turned off the music. I'm liking voice overs now. Can be challenging in spots but the hint button works great. Try the sequel. May 9, 2013
Twisted Lands: Shadow Town I think I am one of the few who like this game. It is a bit creepy and the ending is very unexpected. The graphic is nice and the storyline flows nicely although I hate the backtracking, it's quite a lot in this game. It's nice in the beginning but geting frustrating if you have to go through the fogs over and over.Love the story concept. Give this game a try and hope you'll like it :) June 10, 2012
Shows its age. But really interesting concept. I liked this game enough to get the next one. Its plot is really unique and the ending is unexpected. However, there are A LOT of HOPs and the graphics aren't that great, though they are good considering its age. Worth a play through the sample, to see if you like it. February 8, 2015
Shrug of the shoulders... Loaded fine. I played in challenger mode so I don't know how the other option fairs. Graphics were nice. Possibly could have been crisper in some cases but on the whole clean. Cut scenes slightly silly and IMO actually pointless. HOGS were clear and fairly easy. Mini games were game appropriate, some were challenging and all played into the story line. Music was slightly repetitive but turned it down and ignored it. Options for both music and sound which is always a plus for me. Walkthrough included was easy to use and remained on the page you left it. Length was ok. Took me about 4 hours (not including bonus) but I had a few pauses for life in that. Hints worked well and would direct you to another screen if needed. All sounds good doesn't it? I thought that this would be a fave. Unfortunately it was more of a shoulder shrug. The game was plodding along fairly well but after a fair amount of time I would have liked some reason to connect what was going on. The story line was one that by the wrap up I was just going "Huh?" It was all over the board in explanation. At the end you still have no idea why all the events took place. There is even a small reference at one point that it all could be an illusion. When the game ended you were left wondering what just happened. The plot was so disconnected that I have yet, 2 days later, played the bonus scene. I started it and the "characters" I immediately noticed had nothing to do with the previous game play and all I could think was "Now what?" and turned it off with a shrug. I'm sure I will get back to it at some point but for now I just plain have no interest. This game may be very enjoyable for those that do not care about story line but as I believe this pretty much carries a game like this it was a disappointment to me. I might recommend the SE but not the CE. Save your money. November 11, 2011
The game was ok. It was a fairly enjoyable game but it has its flaws: There's ALOT of backtracking and it grew old fast. The skip button took ages to load as did the Hint button. The mini games were nothing new as was the storyline-and that itself had a few flaws. I'd recommend the SE version. October 24, 2012
