Death at Fairing Point: A Dana Knightstone Novel Collector's Edition is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reminds Me of Agatha Christie The screenshot of the parlor during the storm is what made me want to try the game. It reminded me of an Agatha Christie novel I've recently read called And Then There Were None. It's a lot like how I imagined the house in that book. The game is modern without being too modern. It still feels classy. The puzzles were challenging without being frustrating. The hints gave clues to where to go without spelling out the answer. It's a charming game if you like a good mystery but don't want a dark atmosphere. Generally, if I like a game enough to buy it, it's worth getting the collector's edition. I tried to find out if it was worth the extra money/credit but not many reviews elaborated on the bonus content. There is not much in the CE, other than a bonus chapter: the original house at the beginning of the game, and all the rooms therein. It was a bit disappointing. It's just the epilogue, and gives some more info about what happened to the other characters after the story ended. It's worth it if you want more gameplay, but the extended storyline is not, in my opinion, worth the CE. I will definitely be trying out the other Dana Knightstone games. It's a pity there aren't real books!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So well crafted! This game was "easy" but I didn't mind. I loved the story, was kept on my toes by the variety of HO types of puzzles, and the story was so so cool. I loved the way the whole game was built like chapters in a novel, and I would tag this as one of my favorites!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game! Lots and lots of game play! Plenty of HOS's and puzzles, not too difficult, but still challenging. The music was slow and strictly background, nothing annoying. Some of the HOS's were very difficult and I used my hint button liberally, but it has a slow recharge. The story was very interesting, and kept me guessing. I wouldn't have bought the CE because you really don't need it, since I only used it once during the whole game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WONDERFUL GAME Great adventure tragedy-romance story – appealing and believable. Relaxing music; gorgeous locations.; wide variety of clever puzzles; good blend of HOS and puzzles with the adventure. Beautiful narration – could have used more just to hear her voice. Delightful to see HOS such detailed and picturescque graphics instead of the drab, overly crowded and dilapidated-looking HOS found in so many games today. The developers put a lot of thought into the intertwining plot and, as with the other Dana Knightstone stories, did a fantastic job of putting the gameplay together to move the story forward smoothly and effortlessly. A very well developed and polished game. Very long game; well worth the money

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Game - plenty to do Death at Fairing Point was a good interesting game with plenty to do but it lacked a little something - probably needed more intrigue and more intensity and maybe a little less romance. Having said that I really enjoyed the game as a whole and it was up with the usual great value that we expect with Colectors Edition games. Being a fiction novellist you are on holidays and are haunted by the ghost of a poor painter who is in love with a rich heiress. You must look further that the obvious suicide and try to find out who the killer was. This was quite a long game with just enough dialogue to guide you through the game and the music was not intrusive. The graphics were clear bright and colourful overall but just a tad dark in a few places but this did not distract from a great presentation. The hidden objects were mostly quite easy to find but some just needed the occasional hint. The puzzles were quite nifty and some were a little more difficult to solve than others but there was a good variety of different ones which makes a change. Good game, I enjoyed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great HO/Puzzle Game! What a great game! The story was great, trying to solve a mystery with the help of ghosts without all the doom and gloom of other HO games was a nice change. I loved all the different puzzles that were used and the artwork/graphics were beautiful. This game kept me entertained from beginning to end, including the bonus game. I can't wait to play the next one!
