ENTERTAINING I like this kind of HOG when I want to just relax and look for things.and not a pile of junk you can't see threw....graphics are clear...music fits the theme of pirates..story was just a story..as you get more into the game ..it does give you a challenge..but if your great at HOGS...and love going from room to room which I do. you would not care for this....this is nice to just search around..well worth a DD price not full. as always..download it ..give it a try..smiles to all March 16, 2012
Loved the Variety I loved the assortment of puzzles and hidden object scenes that this game offered. The riddle hidden object scenes were a nice change of pace. During the demo, which I just finished, the puzzle type never repeated. I like going from one puzzle or scene to the next. If you're into the storyline and sound, I can't help you. I mute the sound and hit skip as soon as it appears, but if you are just in it for the puzzles and searches then you will get your moneys worth out of this one. I have just purchased this game and haven't played past the demo time yet, but the demo has been worth the price alone. November 27, 2012
Fun, Fun, Fun I really enjoyed this HOG! It provides just enough variety of searches and sufficient challenge to keep your interest. The story is amusing. August 18, 2012
Where are they at ? I had the best time with this game, in fact I've started it again in different name August 13, 2012
NEVER JUDGE A GAME BY IT'S REVIEWS ........ The reason for my review title is because as I read the reviews, I almost didn't try the game but something made me linger......look and linger till I did download, played 45 mins. and then bought it!! I can't tell anyone about the "Arcade bonus" as it's locked until the game is completed. Yes, it is HO ...BUT.....I really enjoyed the variety of formats they used throughout the game. Hence....not boring. Being far from a newbie I would recommend this game as a nice change, cute story, little extras that it offers . One example is "the shadow of the item in HO scene" Another is it gives you the choice of which object you want to find. I've only completed a few puzzles but enjoyed them. Your reviews are correct in that it isn't a "strain on the little grey cells" but sometimes a break is nice!! One point I do want to reiterate, is to try a game for yourself. I do agree that the reviews are very helpful but games like a lot of things are personal preference/choice....etc. March 16, 2012
SIMPLE BUT VARIED I enjoyed playing this game because it offered several different tasks to complete and thus this game was not boring: *hint was object specific (click on hint and then click on object you needed to find) *riddles (read riddle at bottom of screen and then figure out object and find it -- don't need to do riddles in order) *place objects in white-shaped silhouettes *hidden object scenes (find objects listed) *complete pictures either by swapping (if I remember correctly) and/or rotation *move objects around matching the subjects (very last puzzle) *moving colored stones into their specific-colored spaces In the beginning, I did get temporarily stuck because I expected the scene to change (when completed) but it just sat there until I realized that I needed to click on the arrow(s) on the map located to the bottom left. I found this game relaxing and with various tasks with a cute story, to boot. April 21, 2012
HUMOROUS HOG The storyline is about a daughter who must rescue her father after he is shipwrecked on a tropical island in a group of islands. In the process, she must free him from a mask that has allowed a demon to take control of him with promises to rule the world. Getting the mask off her father is not the end of the story, as the mask must be found and destroyed so the demon cannot get in control again. Along the way, she meets several curious characters who "help". There are no voiceovers so there is a lot of reading if you want to follow the story. But they can be skipped if you just want to play the HOS. The dialog was humorous and sarcastic. The minigames/puzzles have either bare bones directions on how to play or no directions at all. I skipped a couple because I am impatient and don't like to spend time figuring out how to play the game before I can solve it. I also don't care for games where there is no logic to solving the game, just a series of guesses until you accidentally hit the right answer. This game is heavy on HOS, which is what I like about a game that is labeled as HO. There are at least 4 different types of HOS in this game, and none of the locations are repeated. There is the classic "list" HOS and ones where riddles have to be solved in order to figure out what object you need to find in the scene. A third category has a list that shows the pictures of what you are looking for and the fourth type shows pictures in the list that must be moved to the right spot in the scene. With lots of locations spread across several different islands, and the number of objects in some list exceeding 30, there is a lot of HO searching. Hints and skips are available. The hint button provides two levels of help; providing a clue to the object (a silhouette of the object) to pointing to the actual object in the scene. The clue does not require the hint button to recharge and almost always provided enough help to avoid having to use an actual hint and waiting for it to recharge. This is a basic SE with only one extra. At the end, the "Arcade" version of the game is unlocked. "Arcade" is not the right word to use for this additional gameplay. It just consists of the ability to replay all the locations finding ALL the objects in each location with time of play provided. I set a goal of completing each location in under 5 minutes, which usually required me to replay each scene more than once. I like this additional gameplay as I like to find all the objects in a scene. The HOS are often dark and many of the objects are tiny. The items in the scenes are not in proportion, so that makes the search a little more difficult. For example, a shovel maybe smaller than an egg. But that just adds to the challenge and enjoyment of the game for me. I looked for more games like this from the same developer, but there aren't any others. A good game I'm glad I purchased. Entertaining A fun game, very relaxing, good grafic. November 20, 2011
Not sure Without dialogue this would be fun. Worse storyline ever. March 19, 2012
A Bit Boring for me If all you want is an HOS game, then "Pirate Mysteries: A Tale of Monkeys, Masks, and Hidden Objects" is a good game. However... Although the title makes it sound like a fun, HOS/Adventure game, it's just HOS, with a few puzzles. The storyline had great potential, but they failed to deliver. On the plus side, the graphics are very good, and the HOS are moderately challenging. March 10, 2012
