Strange Cases: The Secrets of Grey Mist Lake Collector's Edition is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from An undiscovered treat! Again, I'm here with a review of an older game you might have missed. You are a Claire, a government agent, driving with your boyfriend Sam to his parents’ house, when an image on the road causes Sam to swerve and crash. You end up at Grey Mist Lake, known to be a haunted area, and are soon chasing a witch who has taken Sam to be another of her “prisoners”. Now you must free these other prisoners in order to find a way to save Sam I grew to appreciate this game the more I played it. This game is carefully plotted and is very challenging without being overwhelming. the HOS (Hidden Object Scenes) are fantastic, with objects consistent with the time in which the town existed. There must have been a lot of research done. For instance the school house was very authentic, the medical tools in the hospital as well; it is as if each area got its own expert to make sure this is really believable as an early 20th century town. It does get a little depressing with all the grey-blue-black illustrations, but they are nicely drawn; and the story is brilliant as it introduces the characters. There is a hint button but it takes quite a while, and I actually found I solved most of the puzzles while I waited; I might not have even tried if the hint timer was shorter. I bought the regular version, not the CE and it was complete and satisfying. Took a long time to play, which was good. The lack of a map was annoying, because I think we have gotten lazy and want to speed through, but this game makes you walk around in real time and you get used to it. I think beginner and intermediate players will enjoy this game very much, and it might just challenge experts. I played on easy and it was plenty hard enough. On expert I might have given up :) I rated this game a 5 simply because it is the best of its kind, does everything right and gives good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from black or white I choose white; either you liked it or you didn't. A lot more work was put into this than the first adventure of this series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still OK! This is the third installment of the Strange Cases series game. Before Strange Cases The Secrets of Grey Mist Lake: - Strange Cases The Tarot Card Mystery - Strange Cases The Lighthouse Mystery Although there is no connection of story between the three games, but still I recommend you to play the other two before this one. This game is exciting but storyline not very good. I always spinning around the area and doesn't know where to use my tools. So, I gonna use hint to help me. But, the graphics, animation, musics and game is still good! I still like it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from NICE PLEASANT GAME Storyline is nothing new – car crash, disappearing town, witch, and disappearing person needing to be found. They could have added a twist to it. Good mix of puzzles and HOS. Puzzles can be very creative and can be real head bangers, but can be skipped. Find a green card in the HO scenes before you get a list of objects to find. Although it was interesting at first, it did get tedious after a while. Your inventory is in a case rather than in an inventory tray, so you must open it every time you want to place something. You have objectives throughout the game and, every time you finish one, a green card appears with your next task. Graphics set a moody atmosphere and the voice overs and music are complementary. They add a lot to the story, although the VO's are amateurish and exaggerated. Took about 5+ hours to play. If interested in the CE, bonus game has Clarie exploring the making of the witch and took me about 1 ½ hours. Not quite as good as I thought it would be, but still had a pleasant time playing

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable game Well I bought the collectors edition of this game - I thought the story line was good, The graphics and sound were great, and the puzzles - lots of em! were just right to keep me interested. I enjoyed the extra game play in the C/E edition. There is quite a bit of backward and forwards play across the scenes, but this did not detract from the overall game. I would recommend this game to adventure and puzzle fans. Thumbs up from me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good game I got tired of having to go back and forth all the time to keep the game progressing. No voice over so I turned off the music. Good graphic. The HO games were not hard. Just a good game for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable game I enjoyed this game with its interesting storyline and good graphics. The hos were relatively easy because there was not a lot of cluttering of the scenes. The games were also fairly easy and didn't take a lot of time. I entered the options to lower the volumes of music, voices and sound, so they were there but not intrusive and not annoying. There was a number of running back and forth issues but not to the point of huge frustration. The strategy guide was well done, but didn't follow as you moved forward though it did stay at where you last had it. The hint button was helpful and charged at an average rate, but don't know how it works for going from scene to scene as I didn't use it for that purpose. The cut scenes helped move the scenes along and interjected just enough to keep you moving forward and interested. The art was well done and had the appropriate look for a run down disappearing town. Also the time measured by the moon was an interesting concept. I forgot to check out what the possible extras were before I got into the game and ran out of time before I had the chance to check. Was an enjoyable demo hour and I recommend this game to beginners/intermediate players on the casual setting.
