Rated 5 out of 5 by from Liked the game I like most any game that is not dark and sinister. I get tired of the witches and dark scenes. Its fun to play something else every now and then.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic, imaginative artwork The graphics in this game look like something out of a Tim Burton movie. There are asymmetric walls at angles and anthropomorphized furnaces and cash registers and fun, bristly characters. The transitions between locations are animated, a bit like a zooming out/in effect which is really fun. This is not a traditional HOG in that you don't have a list of words; instead you get a list of silhouette images that are parts of an object that will be assembled when you find them all. Almost all of these objects are creatively designed. A simple pair of tongs is shaped a dragon's head, etc. The game is divided into four sections with about 5-10 locations in each one so there is minimal backtracking. You go through the town, a circus and finally the Pied Piper's castle. Puzzles were fun and a decent challenge, but I thought what stood out in the gameplay was that you had to use many of the inventory items in more creative ways than most HOGs (not just putting keys in locks, although there's a bit of that). The only thing I didn't like was that the "active" cursor didn't look different enough from the regular cursor, so I ended up missing some items or active locations. And not all active locations would cause the cursor to change when moused over. Small complaint though, overall a very creative game that I loved. :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Definately Different This needs more thinking than the usual H0G, and the puzzles were very different. I would class it an Adventure Lite, with HO scenes finding objects from silouettes. They put themselves together to form tools needed soon after. The hint button wasn't much help, mainly directional, but refilled quickly. The graphics are excellent, and I didn't mute the music for once. I loved the sense of humour in the game. Most of us know the Pied Piper story, so should not be distressed by kidnapped children. There is nothing gory or spooky to upset people. A refreshing change from recent Supernatural themed games.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Enjoyable This game is not particularly difficult, and whilst some experts might find it too easy, I think it has enough in it to keep the average gamer interested. It's not a "comedy" but on the other hand it's not a dark scary game, which is a bit of a rarity these days. I think it is worth buying, especially when it's on deal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Nice Enjoyable Game ... Good Graphics, Sound & Style Of Game Play ... Game Length Was A Little Shorter Than Hoped, But Still A Good Level Of Enjoyment ... The Hogs Were Simple (Find All The Parts To Make The Needed Items) ... But This Did Help Keep The Feel Of The Game And Purpose ...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Colorful graphics and characters made me want to play longer This game is somewhat on the shortish side but makes a perfect filler game in between those longer and harder ones. There are four areas to explore with about a half dozen locations within each area, so your movement is contained in only that area until all tasks are completed. This makes the adventuring part easy enough to navigate and remember since you'll only be going back and forth within a limited amount of scenes, which I like. You can't go back to previous areas once you're done with them so the movement is very logical and linear. The cartoonish graphics are lovely and wonderfully skewed at odd angles (oddly enough?) using rich, bright colors and very creative animations especially regarding the mechanical devices. I took one star away because the story could have been padded with more to do in order to make the story better and the gameplay longer. The story is lame at best and as one reviewer already said, if the townspeople had just paid the piper, none of the children would have been kidnapped. There are only three kids to save and the piper isn't actually mentioned again anywhere in the game until the final minutes. And then, there is really no climax. You get a little conversation with him where he goes back and forth with his opinions but there's really no climactic confrontation with him, which was a disappointment to me. I still had fun playing this game because it looked so darned pretty with its excellent artwork and animations and was easy enough where tasks were still challenging but not frustrating to complete. The hints refilled quickly and puzzles were easy and skippable so experts looking for brain twisters and tough challenges should look elsewhere. The hidden object items are all in silhouette but they keep the same orientation as those in the scenes themselves, and they combine to form tools that you need elsewhere in the game. The characters with whom you interact are quirky and fun and the game could have been better had voiceovers been provided for them. I experienced some glitches with freezeups a couple times on my eight year old computer, but clicking out and into the game again let me back in where I left off and saved everything I had done, so I still liked the game enough to keep it at four stars. I just wish it had lasted longer.
