The Beast of Lycan Isle Collector's Edition is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Rare kind of game! I have played many Big Fish Adventure/HOs, but this is my first review. This game is excellent and stands out from most of the others I've played, in my opinion. This is definitely one of my favorites now. There was a beautiful mix of HO's and other puzzles (maybe about half HO), and the HO's were actually functional for the story. Writing and storyline were on point. This is one of the few games were I didn't want to slap my character for being so dumb. And the woman that helps you out is a hoot! (In more ways than one I suppose) :) Finally, even though the animation is rather out dated, the game's aesthetic is beautiful and very fitting for the mood of the game. IMPORTANT: I played this game on expert. This is the first game I've played where your cursor will NOT change when there is something you can click on. Fortunately, this game is pretty straight forward when it comes to things that are just lying around for you to grab. Also, there were times when the Help button was not helpful, but I got through it and never had to visit a walkthrough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful I was lucky enough to Beta test this game and where it left me hanging I had to buy the game and finish it. I thought they would never finally release it. When they did, I liked it even more. I actually liked the backstory and the game play and even most of the puzzles until a couple at the end. This was the sort of game I am always hoping to find when I buy another HOG and rarely find. I consider this one a gem. I just don’t know why it took so long to write the review. I only wrote the review after the second time playing it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OK, that's awesome! If you love games that are different, with HOS that have a purpose rather than just be irritating stumbling blocks on your quest to find a tool, great graphics and super puzzles, look no further! I was enthralled from the first moment and had a hard time pausing whenever real life knocked on the door. For someone like me who is frankly tired of HOGs and traditional puzzles, this is a wonderful change. The voice overs are fabulous, the plot well thought through. I loved looking for clues to my friend Tara and working out how to best use the map and the hints (which are kind of riddles rather than concrete indicators - great!). I loved the bonus content, even unusual things such as the extras (deleted scenes, artwork etc) being an integral part of the game rather than a credits or menu item. I warmly recommend this game and hope there are more coming.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect. So far. A worthwhile game to play and spend your time with. The graphics are superb, clear and intricate illustrations that ooze with details. The animations are also commendable as it incorporated 3D objects. Sounds are excellent and gives you that somewhat "adventurer" feeling. The story/plot is very interesting though it lacks thrill. Overall, This game is worth buying and would make you crave for more once it is over.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best! This is one of the best point-and-click games I've ever played. And, yes, ı've played A LOT! Though it's very easy to play and finish the game, it still excites you and leaves you in wonder. Bonus content was also very good. I really really enjoyed The Beast of Lycan Isle... Thanks for those who developed it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from NO HOS--seek and find adventure Great storyline: Luna's friend disappears, taken by a werewolf, and you have to find her. Good speaking characters, esp. the little ole lady in the hanging contraption. Good puzzles, multi-layered. Long skip Map, but not interactive Diary A really fun game, about 5 hours casual, including bonus chapter

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Original, Beautiful & A Don't Miss! No HOS. Based on Completed Game in 1st (casual) of 2 modes. This game was a terrific surprise. I had started several well polished but formulaic fantasy games not finding anything to catch my interest until I ran across this beauty. I enjoyed every moment including bonus play. This game is original in storyline, graphics, and fun factor. It was extremely well thought out and executed to the very last. So, where to start.... Storyline: Werewolves- How can that be original? Also, Luna (the main character) goes to Lycan Isle to locate a missing friend. Nope, not new either. Luna starts out searching the hotel where her friend stayed- Yeah, I know, Yawn. Then Luna expands her search beyond the hotel. -NOW things get interesting & a unique storyline emerges. The atmosphere leans toward the sinister - the theme is werewolves after all. Even so, the game is not heavy or dark. There is a sense of irony & humor, and the artwork is stunningly beautiful, intricate, & part of game play, scene after scene. The ending & bonus play are seamless & integral to the tale leaving no loose ends. It's such a let down when games appear to just "phone it in" towards the end by tossing a parade of mini-puzzles or HOS, then abruptly rolling the credits. Not the case here. The quality of this game play remains top notch throughout. Other Likes- Inventory Bar: Unique-to me anyway. It could be shrunken to take up a minimum of real-estate, rather than bobbing up & down each time the cursor drew near making me sea-sick. Inventory Items: These were often found by silhouette such as 5 shapes of weapons appearing in inventory of item to be found & used later for a mini-puzzle. Mini-Puzzles: Some original, most easy, but all well done even in bonus play. Cursor & Sparkles: All very subtle in either mode. VOs: Well done on all counts. Nice to Haves: Map: Yes. It was found a piece at a time during game play and shows Luna's location but doesn't show active areas or allow jumping to locations. At the end of game & in bonus play there was a fair amount of schlepping back & forth. Music/Atmosphere: Not intrusive, which was nice, but not memorable either. Can't really think of any dislikes. Would love to see more like this one. Nice job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Different but great hidden object game When I first began playing the game, I wasn't sure I liked it. The navigation wasn't as obvious as in other games and the hidden object scenes were different. But the more I played it, the more I liked it. The characters, particularly the old lady, are interesting. The puzzles are a nice mix of types with none of them too frustrating or difficult. The graphics are good with some very interesting scenes. Overall, very good game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very fun game This really was a fun game and I liked how the gameplay was set up to keep things moving along. The werewolf being a character instead of just the hulking menace added to it a lot for me also. Moving around the mapped area was easy and very fluid. Fun fast paced game.
