Haunted Manor: Painted Beauties Collector's Edition is rated 3.2 out of 5 by 83.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well... ...I was umming and ahhing about whether to play this one, because I tend to avoid anything that sounds too chilling. However, even though I was close to being appalled a couple of times, somehow the storyline explains the madness and I actually found myself having empathy for the main character gone evil. I suppose it helps that he’s terribly handsome! The atmosphere is very enticing with the gothic castle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I thought this game was fun. I thought this game was great game for the genre. I love the mystery and the storyline. I also love how you can use the map to travel to the different areas you want to go. I thought it was a ton of fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I'm glad i tried it in the end. I delayed trying this game purely due to the poor reviews. Goes to show that reviews and me aren't always parallel - I really enjoyed it. Yes, the map was not the most user friendly, but it still showed all the scenes and you could jump from place to place. The complex side of this game was the adventure side. It didn't take an easy route from one room to the next - you had to remember what was not finished in previous rooms. You had achievements to earn - although these may have been a little unrealistic. Finishing a hidden object game in 30 seconds for me was impossible. You had morphing objects to collect - i missed a few. Storyline flowed well and whilst not particularly original, still held its own. Bonus chapter followed along from main game but not essential to it. Was slightly on the short side. I'm wondering whether i played the same game as other reviewers, as I definitely give this a thumbs up. And probably lean towards the CE version as I did need the SG a couple of times.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Gothic Beauty At It's Best ! When it comes to capturing Gothic beauty nobody does it better than Top Evidence and then when you throw in the tall, and handsome villain Stephan Black looking all pale and tragic and a great storyline you've got the makings of one spectacular and spellbinding Gothic masterpiece of a game and that is exactly what this one is. I loved this game from start to finish and it is a massive game with plenty of play time and the longer I played the better it got. I loved exploring through the enchanted paintings and wandering around Stephan's Gothic mansion. The graphics are simply mind blowing as always with this developer and the puzzles were quite challenging and there were a couple I really had to stop and use the old noodle on. The music is great and it fits the atmosphere perfect and I noticed it's not always the same melody playing there are a variety of melodies that play throughout the game and each one was great. The hos were list, and silhouette and all were interactive. Items were somewhat easy to find but I did have to really look for a few but for the most part I had no problems. The graphics are so detailed and gorgeous and honestly I think this is the only developer that can actually make gray a beautiful colorful they just do it so well and there again is that Gothic touch. I loved the story and almost felt sorry for Stephan at times as I read some of the diary notes left lying around I honestly think his intentions were good at first but sadly I think they got out of control and he let the bad overtake the good and he had a huge debt to payback to death and so he started taking the souls of innocent women by luring them into his mansion to paint their portraits. There are collectibles and morphing objects to collect throughout the game, the collectibles are rosary beads and there are thirty morphing objects and some of the morphing objects are quite easy to find but not all of them and I wasn't able to find all of them but then again I was so caught up in the story that I forgot to look for alot of them. My only complaint about the game would be the way the sg was set up you have to exit out into the main menu to access the sg and I found that to be frustrating but not to the point that it spoiled the game and hopefully the developer will change that with their next masterpiece. The game grabbed me from the get go and held my attention all the way and I can easily say for me this is hands down the absolute best game of 2014 and deserves way more recognition than it got and I really hope this want be the last Haunted Manor we see I have everyone of the games in this series and I love each and everyone of them and I hope they will continue to give us this series in fact I have every game Top Evidence releases I never pass up this developer they are simply awesome and I really wish we could see more from them. Give the demo a try it is so deserving of it. Thank you so much Top Evidence for delivering a Gothic Masterpiece and please give us more and thank you Big Fish ! Have fun everybody !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ANOTHER PAINTING GAME BUT A GREAT ONE! Hi Gamers, I think this painting game makes 4 to 5 in the last year. I loved this one for a lot of reasons. Number one it took hours to finish because of the many areas to look into and all are diverse, I love that in a game. Number two, I rarely if EVER use hints but I used a lot in the game because of the "hint icon", any moms will agree LOL. The music and graphics are top notch. All in all this is a great game and I recommend it. The bonus game was short so if you would rather just buy the standard version the game will still be awesome. Happy Gaming

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Magical Paintings or Haunted Souls? Didn't expect to like this game as much as I did and now can't wait to purchase it! Storyline: Stephen Black made a pact with Death (a woman) when his beloved wife and young son died of a horrible illness, vowing he would do anything to bring her back - and anything is what he did. You are Amelie, a young tourist in Paris who has been asked by this renowned artist to paint your portrait. You are aghast, shocked, and delighted that you would be so honored. But, is this really an honor or a nightmare? Graphics: Although a bit flat at times, the colors are magnificent - vibrant - beautiful. The devs captured Black's eyes as intense and fierce and even eerily life-like. The paintings and other portraits are beautiful even as they are ghostly. Sounds: Background music was done well. Quiet and eerie when appropriate and rising to that dramatic crescendo when something is about to happen. No lip-syncing that I recall. But the sound effects were spot on - creaking boards or was that a door? Windy draft or ghostly moan? Game Play: Black has already painted 8 portraits of women - has Death collected their souls? Can they be saved? Can you, Amelie, even be saved? After your portrait is finished, you are transported to the drab and cheerless Black castle. Your only hope of escaping imprisonment forever is to find 15 pieces of your own portrait. But, you are a kind person, and so you begin a path not just to save yourself, but to save the other women as well. HOGs: Didn't have a problem with any of these. Your usual itemized word list or find the item by picture shown. Mini Games: I found these on a varied spectrum from easy to going crazy trying to figure out how to solve any particular puzzle. One major problem I had, which I have never seen before, is that there was no reset button (that I could tell). So, solve it or skip it? There are 3 difficulty settings. A jumpable map but doesn't show you much of anything - not where an active area is, not where an area is finished. THIS MAP requires brain power - the kind of map I like. Try to remember where you were, what item you now have to use and go there. If you went to the wrong place, try again. There is a hint button, in the form of a cherubic angel who takes a nap while recharging then giggles quite cutely (I thought) when he/she wakes up. The hint button does recharge fairly quickly. There is also a journal for your notes and a task list you can refer to. CE Bling: I apologize. I have been sick and didn't take as many notes as I normally do to fill this in. But, here goes..... Strategy Guide Bonus Game Play Achievements Concept Art Wallpaper Musical Tracks - sorry, I don't remember - bad me. Collectibles: 15 pieces of your/Amelie's picture to save yourself. 8 souls of previously painted female portraits 30 rosary beads Morphing Objects - don't know how many. I think that about covers it. This was a most intriguing game. I WANT to find out the ending. I'm not necessarily sure Death is the culprit - or the only one. The answer lies in the game. I got my necessary "WOW" factor after the demo which is my indicator of whether to purchase a game or not. When I say "NO", or "Are you kidding me?" when a demo ends. I need to purchase the game. Plain and simple. This Glam-ma highly recommends you at least try the demo - all you have to lose is a little bit of time. I think you will thoroughly enjoy this game. The review of this game is based on this Glam-ma's unbiased opinion - and only mine. Therefore, if you found this review to be helpful, please click on the "yes" button below. There is also a "no" button. Seriously? You'd give your Glam-ma a "no"? Kidding. Happy Gaming!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Game I really liked this game because there was a lot of interesting and creative game play. It took me awhile to finish it and I like that. I really hate games that are over too fast. The thing that really impressed me with this game was the graphic and art work. It was truly beautiful and the level of detail was incredible. Really enjoyed this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous! I've been waiting for this game since I played the Beta test. A few, minor improvements were made and, viola, my new favorite game. An artist wants to paint you while in Paris. Well, how flattering! However, his painting whisks you away to his creepy mansion & extensive grounds. He made a deal with Death and his end of the bargain is providing souls in order to keep his wife hanging around. You must rescue the souls he has already trapped in addition to saving yourself. Colored gems must be found to enter paintings. There are achievements to earn but I warn you, don't plan on getting a lot of the "X finds in X seconds in HOP" because those scenes are done in such detail, one must linger to soak in the exquisite details. Plus, not a lot of color, mostly silver, bronze & gold tones. There are morphing objects (my favorite). Truth to tell, I got so caught up in the game that sometimes I would forget to look & have to go back. Good thing there is a "take you there" map. I must mention the hint button: Cutest angel this side of the galaxy. After giving a hint she must nap and, upon waking, giggles delightfully. Puzzles got harder as the game when on. Some new one, some easy, a couple I tore out some hair. Have fun!
