Secrets of the Dark: Mystery of the Ancestral Estate Collector's Edition is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 84.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Story! Challenging puzzles! Fantastic story! Complete Game SE: If you are looking for a game that has a great story, no bells and whistles, lots of puzzles, and that is long...this game is for you. Set on a tiny island in Greece: Daytona the last in her line has summoned you to contain her uncle's evil spirit in a unique coffin. As you scour the island the story unfolds and you discover lots of easy to challenging puzzles (casual mode) to solve. Along the way you meet spirits of the family that aid you and reveal secrets. I can say I thoroughly enjoyed this game from start to finish. The graphics are beautiful, the voice acting beautiful and the cut scenes inserted at the right moments. I came across some unique puzzles, which took a bit to figure out. Though there wasn't a map I didn't mind because I found my way around without getting lost. The challenge was remembering where I had seen things that I would later have to go too. There was a time or two that I couldn't figure out what to do next so I used the hint button, which gave me a good idea where to go, and recharged fairly quickly. So all said I highly recommend this game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Secrets of Success As previously stated, game has no collectibles or morphing objects--which I usually refer to as bells and whistles--and which too many games have without having a game. With that said and done, Mystery of the Ancestral Estate is so far a 3rd in the Secrets of the Dark series of which gamers need not play in sequence. The games are older, yes, and they are excellent as well. Orneon Developers are keen on detail which also includes the Walkthrough. Played Advanced Level to give myself some wiggle room if I wanted to possibly use a hint or skip as the difficulty option cannot be changed once game has started. Purchased game in 2013 and it was a joy to play in 2014--quite challenging and engaging and all the other positive reviews rolled into one. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

Rated 5 out of 5 by from YOU WILL LOVE THIS GAME This is the third game in this series which I think is set in Greece. The previous two are Temple of Night [Mexico] and Eclipse Mountain [Thailand]. But you don't have to play the other two games first as this one is completely separate. Such a great game and I believe this one is the best. You have: ~ Regular, Advanced and Hardcore modes of play; ~ Voiceovers; ~ Notebook; ~ Can replay some of the mini-games. Even though it doesn't have an achievements board or morphing objects, honestly it really doesn't matter as there is so much to do. Once again, as with the other two games, you are switching on and off lights to go to parallel rooms [present and past]. Such a unique idea - really cool. The HOGs are interactive - some you have to put back objects and some normal ones as well. All were clear to see and know what to do. There are so many mini-games that it will make your head spin - awesome. I played them all with glee. I lost count how many there were but I'm sure there will be plenty you will love. Some you think will be easy - wrong. They're harder than you think but not frustrating. I didn't try to skip or get hints cause I was enjoying myself too much. This game doesn't have an interactive map. Yes you will be running around a lot, but I love that sort of game. You don't have to go too far though. The graphics are perfect. Its very easy to see everything and they are done very well. The music is nice - not loud but had a nice tune and didn't bother me at all. It took me a long time to get through the game and bonus. Many many hours for the game and about 90 minutes for the bonus. However, playing on Hardcore mode didn't allow me to skip or hint anything, so it took me longer. Not that I really noticed anyway. Definitely recommend that you play this game - well worth your money and a definite 5 for fun.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A 10+ Game! Oh, do I looovvve this game!!!!! Absolutely superb!!! This game has everything! I don't care for HOs, but they were even good and not many!! I always play 'Hardcore' or 'Advance' and believe me, this was not easy!! AND IT IS LONG!! A few puzzles gave me a fit, but I survived. If you want an excellent challenge, trust me, this is it!! P.S. I have the others, and they are just as good!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another excellent game Absolutely great game, I loved playing different types of HOS The good: Story is very good, if you have played other games form the series Secrets of the dark you’ll now that it’s always about destroying evil and the dark Graphics are awesome, beautiful cutscenes, clear images Music is also quite nice Hint is recharging quickly and it’s usable during the gameplay not only in HOS Strategy guide HOS are fantastic, two types of them, classic with listed objects and those with misplaced objects ( my favorite) Puzzles are challenging, for some you have to think a little bit, pure entertainment The bad: No map

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My favorite Type of games I feel they do a terrific job on these types of games. I love them and are so intrigued by the visual effects that are done. There are some "Try Hard's" out there, but the ones like this just beat them so bad. I have played about three of this style game, and the others just disappoint. I can not tell who makes them, so have a difficult time finding another. Wish all HO games were made by this group.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow! How long I have not played in such a fascinating game! Great graphics, good sound and very original mini-games! I really liked the idea of the changing environment, original and fresh idea! Then I was very pleased with the mini-game in the lobby, under the shield, which is inserted into a round sign. At first I did not understand what I need to do and why I do it. But when I run the sequence was really cool! But I was disappointed one unpleasant moment. When I played the demo, the game is stopped and I saw a message that the demo version has expired. Although the Game Manager shows that I still have 16 minutes. I never understood why... But despite this, the game is definitely worth a buy. Strongly recommended ;)
