During the Middle Ages a terrifying, mysterious disease raged across Italy. It killed thousands of people, and whole towns and villages perished together, swallowed whole by this ravaging and perilous plague. Everywhere the disease touched, death followed, and the masses were consumed in hoards. There were legends of a mythical town where the secret to defeating the disease was hidden—a town by the name of Apothecarium, built by Italy's foremost scientists. The brightest minds in the country came here to conduct research and collaborate with other scientists—engineers, mathematicians, artists, sculptors, writers, and even alchemists. Survivors thrived here until a mysterious discovery fell into the wrong hands, and now it’s up to you to free the survivors from the clutches of an insane and cold-blooded lunatic!

Apothecarium: The Renaissance of Evil is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 65.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from MY KIND OF GAME....MY NEW FAVORITE!! I can't say enough great things about this game, and this is my new favorite. This game has LOTS OF PUZZLES, and if that is your thing you will really enjoy this game too. I even enjoyed the HOS, as some of the items, morph and you have to wait until they turn into the item you need before clicking on it. Haven't seen that yet in any new games. The story is ok, and keeps you interested right until the end. The best thing about this game, is the puzzles, and mini games, and it shows the time you took to finish it, and at the end of the game you can replay all the puzzles, mini-game, and HOS, to improve you score. There are also collectable coins for you to buy hints, and stuff to help you out in the game. Some special collection games don't have that many extras. So much has been put into this game, and I'm really glad I found it, as I would have missed this one, but it was mentioned in another gamer's review about how good this game was, so I had to try it out, and am so glad I did. Nice and long, very good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly enjoyable Basically, I am writing this review to boost the overall rating of the game a little, because I feel that currently it is underrated. I did not expect too much from this game either because of a good deal of "meh" reviews. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised almost as soon as I started playing. In spite of quite a few (minor) glitches and obvious (minor) mistakes of the developers, the very first hidden object scene was a clear indication that I would enjoy this game. Hidden object scenes in this game are special! I played the Challenge mode, and it wasn't too hard. Maybe I would have been bored had I played an easier mode with hints and explanations of everything. I wouldn't call the storyline fresh and original, but the classical music and somewhat sinister graphics built up the eerie atmoshpere that I enjoyed. Definitely worth playing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Game! Very rarely would I write a gushing review for a Hidden Object Game, but this deserves it. Played it on the highest difficulty and just fell in love with it. Fantastic graphics, suburb music and challenging puzzles. Plus a bit of unusual mechanics for a few of the scenes which were pretty fun to play. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very captivating! Despite what others have said, I thought the graphics were beautifully rendered and very intricate designs were created. Basically a HOS with the option for Match 3. You can read the other reviews for details since I'm just recently completing this entertaining game. Not the most complex, but certainly captivating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite Wow what a game. Hard to believe that this wasn't a CE. This has it all. Thoroughly enjoyed the game play, the story line, the puzzles and everything else. I don't usually rate games but this one was worth a comment.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DELIGHTFUL ! Colorful, brilliantly conceived imagery; exciting music score; a fun (if not historically accurate) tale and lots of puzzles make this game a must have. Never know what delightful scene will open next. Glad I didn't pass on this one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding (and a real surprise) This one wasn't what I expected. As others have commented, it is loaded with things to do. There were so many rooms that I was beginning to think I'd never reach the end. "What?! ANOTHER one?!" I don't buy games unless there's a jump map. Here we have one that is beautiful and clever -- even with this, they went to the max with the design. The game takes morphing objects to a new level -- they're within the HOS! Clever, charming and fun. I loved the artwork and the wildly imaginative world it depicted. Surrealistic! Soooo much attention to detail. Even the deep backgrounds have things to look at. I wanted to linger on each scene to take it all in. This one has way more in it than many so-called Collector games, so it's well worth the price of an SE. You'll get hours and hours of fun. And it's not always easy. Pay attention to your surroundings. Some of the objects you're seeking are well hidden. I wasn't familiar with the devs before this. I'll definitely watch for their games in future. I hope they keep to this standard of excellence! Wow!
