Ashley Clark: Secret of the Ruby 3.6 5 42 42
Great value This is a very good value for a standard edition game. Story ? Interesting with a variety of characters. There is a good bit of dialogue, some of it humorous, but it is needed for the story. There is voice over for some of the dialogue. Game play ? Flows along with a good mixture of adventure, hidden object scenes and puzzle mini-games. There are 4 difficulty levels to choose when you set up your profile. Easy, Normal, Hard and Nightmare. Puzzles ? Good puzzles if you like a challenge. They can be skipped. They can be replayed in a bonus section. Great interactive map ? The interactive map is shown with thumbnails of each available location so you can see where you might want to go. Just click on the scene and you are taken there. Hints - You are given some hints and can find others by collecting rubies in the scenes. If you use all the ruby hints your normal hint will recharge, so you are never out of hints. The hints you are given and the recharge time depends on the difficulty level you choose. Recharge time is 30 seconds in Easy Mode and 2 minutes in Nightmare mode. I had a great time playing this game and I loved the challenging puzzles for a change. August 29, 2013
I really like this game! Unpretentious, original and ludic! I passed a very long and good moment to play this game. I recommand this game to everyone who likes adventure game with no map so with a bit more of thinking. Not too much HO, a lot of puzzles. Voil! August 27, 2013
very good The game is very beautiful; the game action takes place in a medieval castle. Music is pleasant, not gloomy. You have to walk along the castle to solve puzzles. HOscenes are perfectly drawn, they have elements of action like to light a candle and etc. It?s impossible to put dawn. I played half of the night. August 27, 2013
Excellent game! This is a great game. It is well worth buying. The storyline and Graphics were Excellent. 5 Stars August 29, 2013
Loved this game When it started out, I was not sure it I would like it, but as it got going, I really loved it. This is a game I will play over and over. September 17, 2013

Unassuming Title Packs a Pleasant Surprise No bells and whistles here, just a quality gaming experience. Hand drawn superb artwork and immersive music draws gamers down an unexpected rabbit hole to help our Detective Ashley solve seemingly disconnected murders. This Standard version offers a red ruby to be collected in each scene for added hints or simply for the challenge. Did I say challenge? Yes, the 23 puzzles which gamers can also re-play are more than not, a challenge. Creative, fun, top quality hidden object scenes are also peppered throughout with an interactive map to help jump around. Game leans more toward the adventure side which I prefer although the HO's were so enjoyable, didn't mind them at all. Simplistic, easy to follow, lengthy and challenging. Enjoy! -Mama Mia- November 20, 2015
Cheers To Ashley Clark! Job Well Done! I loved Secret of the Ruby so much. It even had a good, appropriate ending. It was challenging from start to finish. Very interesting storyline, lots of necessary dialogue but easy to read, story related tasks to accomplish, helpful human spirits. There are 4 play modes, interactive map to save you many back and forth trips, a book that keeps your hidden objectives at hand, inventory bar stays in place. You start with some hints and others are placed in scenes thruout the game in the form of rubies. Don't forget to look for them, dark red or brownish red, usually well hidden and I think they may not appear in each scene as I search very intensely. If you run out of rubies the regular hints will kick in, so no need for despair. I liked how it worked, I had 12 hints left at the end. The are 23 skippable games, with few acceptions they were quite the challenge. A couple were beyond my best efforts. Always hate having to skip! Nice surprise when you exit game - click on the gift box in upper right corner. All the games are there, replayable! A nice feature in a standard edition. The games/puzzles were all excellent, as were the HOGs. There are not many HOGs but they were top notch as well. And an item in one of them had a very different way of being discovered (loved it). I don't think you'll be disappointed with this game. Looking for more challenge? Try Dark Alleys: Penumbra Motel and Resurrection, New Mexico! Bye now! able games January 25, 2016
Just The Thing For Punchcard Monday! BASED ON COMPLETED GAME FIRST IMPRESSIONS I am so often disappointed by stand alone SE games, that I am very happy to find a good one. This is not the flashiest game you?ll ever see ? the budget is clearly too low for that ? but it?s got all the essentials, and they?re done well. The opening cut scenes are very like 3D adventure games, and the game world is done in old fashioned pseudo-realism, but don?t let that fool you, there is more to this game than there seems at first glance. WHAT?S HAPPENING Initially, we have a typical cop/crime mystery game with the expected visuals to go with it, based in the real world and fairly ordinary. We have been called out to the crime scene of a probable kidnapping, with strange complications. We find out that there have been a series of similar crimes dating back to 1790! Then we take a good look at the ruby amulet found at the scene, and are thrown into a completely different world. Personally I thought we took that pretty casually, for a street smart cop and all. With the guidance of stranded spirits, we track down our kidnapper, who doesn't seem all that formidable, but, hey *somebody* dragged me into this time zone/dimension - whatever. SIGHTS & SOUNDS Once we leave behind our present day reality, the graphics become mostly water colour hand drawn in style. Good colour and clarity. The cut scenes still hark back to earlier time, but the HO scenes in particular look great. No matter which style of graphics is being used at any moment, it is all well done. The voiceovers, when there are some (characters will go from VO to print when the dialogue is long), are very good, even though sometimes the pronunciation is off. We can interact and talk with the characters we meet, and that plus the cut scene graphics give the game the feel of an adventure game, so expect a little more talk than usual. MAKING PROGRESS The gameplay is well balanced between HO games (interactive list & silhouettes) and puzzles. The puzzles were almost all new for me, and a couple were a little confusing, so a bit more difficult than the norm. The adventure gameplay was pretty logical, and plenty of guidance from characters meant, not overly difficult. There is a directional hint and skip is quick in the easiest of 3 levels. The map was a transporter, but not interactive. We collect rubies for additional hints. FAMOUS LAST WORDS I ran out of time because I was too engrossed in the story to pay attention, always a good sign. This one is definitely on my buy list. August 26, 2013
One to buy I enjoyed this game the level of challenge is very good. The HOG are also a challenge. The graphics are good and easy to spot items. The music is not over powering and enjoyable. The hint button is useful, and it refills quickly. On the whole I find it a nice relaxing game and everything I expect from a good HOG. The story is very much the same as a lot of these games but still easy to follow and interesting August 26, 2013
