Ashley Clark: Secret of the Ruby is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting mystery set in Medieval days! Ashley Clark detective that has been called on a case involving the disappears caused by an amulet. As Ashley investigates cases going back to the 1700s she is whisked away to the past. As she explores a castle she meets a variety of ghosts that she helps as she moves forward with the case: finding out what has turned the once noble and kind lord of the land into a hideous skeleton monster. The story is great! The graphics are a bit grainy but I liked them because they gave the game a "noir" sort of feel. The voice over is good and the music good for this type of game. The puzzles are great. They are not that easy even in easy mode. The HOPs are interactive and some of the items are a bit of challenge to find. There are hints but limited but this can be solved by finding the red gems throughout the game to add more hints. There is a map so it make traveling easy because you can transport to the area. And Ashley's Journal is a big help because it collects clues she finds. Many might not like this game because it doesn't give you any bells or whistles. You have to search each scene thoroughly to find items and remember where things are for later in the game. Though the map makes traveling between scenes there are not any indicators that tell you what is in that scene so you have to figure out everything on your own. So, my advice try the trial before you buy. I recommend this game if you are looking for a good mystery set in a medieval castle, like challenging puzzles and don't want all the bells and whistles.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cheers To Ashley Clark! Job Well Done! I loved Secret of the Ruby so much. It even had a good, appropriate ending. It was challenging from start to finish. Very interesting storyline, lots of necessary dialogue but easy to read, story related tasks to accomplish, helpful human spirits. There are 4 play modes, interactive map to save you many back and forth trips, a book that keeps your hidden objectives at hand, inventory bar stays in place. You start with some hints and others are placed in scenes thruout the game in the form of rubies. Don't forget to look for them, dark red or brownish red, usually well hidden and I think they may not appear in each scene as I search very intensely. If you run out of rubies the regular hints will kick in, so no need for despair. I liked how it worked, I had 12 hints left at the end. The are 23 skippable games, with few acceptions they were quite the challenge. A couple were beyond my best efforts. Always hate having to skip! Nice surprise when you exit game - click on the gift box in upper right corner. All the games are there, replayable! A nice feature in a standard edition. The games/puzzles were all excellent, as were the HOGs. There are not many HOGs but they were top notch as well. And an item in one of them had a very different way of being discovered (loved it). I don't think you'll be disappointed with this game. Looking for more challenge? Try Dark Alleys: Penumbra Motel and Resurrection, New Mexico! Bye now! able games

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Unassuming Title Packs a Pleasant Surprise No bells and whistles here, just a quality gaming experience. Hand drawn superb artwork and immersive music draws gamers down an unexpected rabbit hole to help our Detective Ashley solve seemingly disconnected murders. This Standard version offers a red ruby to be collected in each scene for added hints or simply for the challenge. Did I say challenge? Yes, the 23 puzzles which gamers can also re-play are more than not, a challenge. Creative, fun, top quality hidden object scenes are also peppered throughout with an interactive map to help jump around. Game leans more toward the adventure side which I prefer although the HO's were so enjoyable, didn't mind them at all. Simplistic, easy to follow, lengthy and challenging. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value This is a very good value for a standard edition game. Story – Interesting with a variety of characters. There is a good bit of dialogue, some of it humorous, but it is needed for the story. There is voice over for some of the dialogue. Game play – Flows along with a good mixture of adventure, hidden object scenes and puzzle mini-games. There are 4 difficulty levels to choose when you set up your profile. Easy, Normal, Hard and Nightmare. Puzzles – Good puzzles if you like a challenge. They can be skipped. They can be replayed in a bonus section. Great interactive map – The interactive map is shown with thumbnails of each available location so you can see where you might want to go. Just click on the scene and you are taken there. Hints - You are given some hints and can find others by collecting rubies in the scenes. If you use all the ruby hints your normal hint will recharge, so you are never out of hints. The hints you are given and the recharge time depends on the difficulty level you choose. Recharge time is 30 seconds in Easy Mode and 2 minutes in Nightmare mode. I had a great time playing this game and I loved the challenging puzzles for a change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very good The game is very beautiful; the game action takes place in a medieval castle. Music is pleasant, not gloomy. You have to walk along the castle to solve puzzles. HOscenes are perfectly drawn, they have elements of action like to light a candle and etc. It’s impossible to put dawn. I played half of the night.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really like this game! Unpretentious, original and ludic! I passed a very long and good moment to play this game. I recommand this game to everyone who likes adventure game with no map so with a bit more of thinking. Not too much HO, a lot of puzzles. Voilà!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from 23 PUZZLES (replayable) & also LOTS of HOPS (not replayable) in this HOPA – review on completed game- A nice, relaxing game. You play as detective Ashley Clark. People have been disappearing and you need to figure out what the heck is happening. So, off you go into a different universe, naturally, to a time that is quite medieval looking. Quite a long HOPA game with all those puzzles. Starts great, plateaus half way, and picks up again ¾ onward. Note: no BFG walkthrough. GRAPHICS: Nice, clear graphics. I used the aspect ratio adjustment. HOPS: LOTS, clear, but some very well hidden: wordlists and silhouettes. PUZZLES: 23 REPLABLE PUZZLES – MOST OF THEM NOT EASY- Option to skip available. SOUNDS: Music and sound. HINT: To begin with you have limited hints. You start at 5. You can also pick up RED GEMS which will give you instant recharge or add one hint. Once you find all parts of the red ruby gem you get unlimited hints, which take about 15 second to recharge on casual. Since there’s no BFG walkthrough, I had to use alternative walkthrough a couple of times, eg YouTube. DIFFICULTY LEVELS: 4 choices and interchangeable from options once you start playing. MAP: YES, jump map (the small compass in the lower left)! Wow, I played ¾ of this game not realizing… INVENTORY: Visible at all times. JOURNAL: Journal, objectives and map are together in lower left corner. CHARACTERS: I liked the ghostly characters that you come across. There are some voice-overs done for each character, but you must also read at time.
