Rush Hour! Gas Station 2.8 5 25 25
The Need For Speed Uncle Tony has hired you to work at his new gas station, but he may have made a mistake hiring me, I don't think I'm cut out for this job! The gas station theme works, it's an excellent choice for a Time Management game, I just haven't figured out if it's the game mechanics or my mechanics that made this game awkward. You have a line of cars that travel in front of your gas station and you click on the cars with the gas pump icon, and then you click on the pump you want them to go to. You start out with two pumps but you can add more as you progress, and you will want to purchase extra parking spaces to put excess cars in while waiting for a pump to open up. Once the car has filled up you click on the car again and then the exit/cash register. You earn more money for color combos, everything is colored, the pumps, the register and the cars. Eventually you will upgrade your station with garages and mini marts and you will be able to purchase tools to make the TM process easier. The problem I had with this game is that it was sometimes difficult to click on a moving car and the multitask clicking wasn't obvious enough. In other words I wasn't sure if the car had been selected as well as the action, and then the car would just drive on past. This would be an awesome game if the tasks were shown on each item as 3 checkmarks or something to let you know what was going on with that item. I found it a bit odd that the vehicles move sideways and even run through another car as if it wasn't there, enjoy! October 1, 2014
A more complicated "Airport Mania" I love the Airport Mania series so I was excited to see that this is very similar. However, upon playing the demo, I find it's a lot more difficult and there are a lot more variables to winning gold and not winning gold. Cars drive down the street, you direct them to different gas pumps and stations, trying to get color bonuses and keeping their patience meter high for optimal money. However, this is soon complicated by traffic jams, rush hour, random repairs needed around the lot, not enough stations, more colors, slower and faster cars - you name it! You eventually have the choice of many bonus items to help you, but it's frustrating that you can only choose two per level to aid you. Sometimes, making gold means making the right choices of bonus items before you even play a level. It's a pleasant game and challenging, so I'll drop a credit on it - but it's definitely a game that has made me growl with frustration before the hour demo was up. I much prefer Airport Mania! Cute, though with a few flaws This is definitely an interesting idea for a time management game, and one that has a lot of potential. It's very similar to the Airport Mania games, which I loved, but has a few issues which makes it not quite as good as those. It's also a bit more difficult than the Airport Mania games, though I think sometimes that's due to the way the game works rather than specifically trying to make it that difficult. Basically, as cars drive down the street that goes past your Uncle Tony's gas station, some of them will want gas (or later on, a car wash, food, repairs, etc.). You have to click on the car and direct it to where it can get what it wants at the gas station. You earn bonuses by matching the same colored cars to the same colored pumps and checkout lanes. And the longer it takes you, the less money you make from that car. You have a bonus which you can choose for each level (color prediction, for instance), as well as what they call "objects" to help with various issues that pop up. Those issues can be things such as one of your entrances being unusable until you repair it (or click on it repeatedly if you don't have the repair object), or a mud puddle that gets every car dirty which you can use the clean road object on. There are only two entrances for cars to enter the gas station, which adds a bit to the challenge level sometimes as you have to have a place for them to go before they pass the second entrance. However, sometimes it's hard to click on the cars and actually have them selected, or it's hard to get the destination clicked properly. It's also a bit hard to tell if you've actually selected a car, as the only indicator are some white circles around it which don't stand out particularly well against the road. It makes it easier to make mistakes while trying to get the cars where you want them to go. You can queue up actions for cars, but again, the issues mentioned make it harder to do that as well. The graphics aren't awful, but they aren't "Wow!" either. Compared most time management games, they're about par. The animations are a bit odd at times though, as the cars appear to drive over each other and/or drive sideways at times. The sound is okay, though I ended up turning off the music as there isn't any volume control in the game (you can only turn the music and/or sound on and off), and I didn't want to have to mess with my system sound to lower it. Beyond the clicking issues, my biggest complaint is just that you can't buy upgrades until the game unlocks them, even if it's something that would very clearly help you get three stars on a level and you have the money for it. It can be a pain to them get three stars on some levels due to the cars getting impatient and paying less (or driving past entirely) because you don't have enough stations for them all and the clicking issues making it harder to direct them through what you do have. If it were a bit more responsive with clicking and selection, it's possible the upgrades issue may not be as big of a deal, but together they're certainly a big annoyance at times. Especially if you're big into getting three stars on a level like I am. I ultimately bought the game as I think I can still get some fun out of it, plus my children will enjoy it even with the issues, but it may be wildly frustrating for some. So while this is a cute game that's somewhere between okay and good, it's in no way a great game and could have easily been made better with just a few improvements. October 2, 2014
Two TM games in a row!?! I am in SHOCK!! Maybe the "powers that be" FINALLY HEARD us TM game fans!! We got TWO fun games, one right after the other!! I'm actually in SHOCK right now since we usually only get one per month IF we are lucky! I'm hoping they will keep this up!! This isn't my FAVORITE game or anything. However, I have completed about 12 levels and I am still having fun with it! There is enough "challenge" in it to keep me interested! (I am one of those who cant STAND it when I don't get a "gold star/expert" on every single level.) Once you reach the 3rd page of tasks, it starts getting pretty tricky to get everything just perfect! I am very happy though that I got two fun TM games in a row and really HOPE they keep them coming!! I am really quite sick of the overabundance of HO and M3 games!! I will probably beat this game in the next day or two (only being able to play for a few hours per day)...but I will have had FUN doing it!! That's all that really matters! If you like TM games (that don't have to do with running a community, building forts and finding food) then I would suggest you at least TRY these two (this one and Bella Design). If you have FREE games available this would be a great time to cash those in! I would have even PAID for the games...simply b/c it's been FOREVER since they came out with ANY that I like and I've been DYING for some new ones to add to my collection of 100+! I dont care about storylines or sounds or any of that stuff. I always have my games muted and fast forward thru any unnecessary "talking" anyway, as they tend to get on my nerves otherwise....so I can't really comment on any of those things. This game has more "basic" graphics (for example the cars constantly "run in" to one another...or drive THRU each other) but that doesn't detract from the fun! At least not for ME anyway! The most important part of my review that you can take away from all of this is that this game IS FUN. That's why we are here anyway! All the "bells and whistles" are just icing as far as I am concerned and not NEEDED in order to enjoy the game! Hope this helps!! ~:) October 2, 2014
A good game for Diner Dash lovers If you like Diner Dash, or any of those sorts of games, where you place items by colors and have to move quickly to keep everyone happy, then this is a good game for you. Some of the levels are very challenging. The only downside is there are only 24 levels, so you finish pretty quickly. October 3, 2014
Can be challenging Not the best but not the worst TM game out there. It's the classic match the colors, choose the task, line up the tasks, type of TM. Some levels can be challenging but overall a fairly straight forward, easier TM. Not much of a storyline but it's cute at times...very limited times. I did find it more tedious than most other TM games. Graphics are not over the top but more on the cute, cartoony side. Best to probably buy this on sale, as you may not be as satisfied paying full price for it. October 14, 2015
No Mini Games! I enjoy time management games but really dislike mini-games that are often included in them. This game has no mini games. It is a great TM game for those of us who prefer not to waste our time playing the cute little mini-games. I'd love to see another one in the future. October 19, 2014
Not worth the price, but a bit of a challenge I love TM games and they are very hard to come by these days so I snatched this one up with a coupon deal. First off to anyone that wants to buy this game...there are only 24 levels divided up into the 4 seasons, which is a real downer. I completed this game in one day. Secondly, there are only two modes of play - story and rush. The graphics are ok. I turn the music off so can't tell you about that. The 1950s deco of the game is a bit charming and the story line a bit lame. You basically help the guy that spent his savings on opening a gas station and you have a year to pay off the loan. However, all of the money you make goes toward buying objects, bonuses, and station upgrades....so didn't quite understand the story there. You have to replay previous levels as you unlock you station upgrades to get a better score or three stars, so the challenge is there. You have to be quick to grab the cars before they get past the second entrance. It can be somewhat tough to grab a car and get them to a slot, especially if there is already a car in the slot you want to send it to. The rush mode is to basically serve as many cars as you can before losing three cars. This mode did not thrill me as I only served 25 cars or so before losing. At 20 cars, all the cars come and there are not enough slots or time to manage all of them. I would only recommend this game to TM addicts that like to be perfect on a level, but this game is not really worth the club price and maybe not your time. October 1, 2014
Disappointing! I was rather excited to see a new TM management game pop up on BigFish. Sadly this excitement was short lived. At the beginning of play I likened this to the Airport Mania games, which I love. However as play continued it became clear that this game falls a long way short of that. I hit problems when I couldn't choose the upgrades I needed. Too confusing! The turn off point was when all the cars went through the muddy puddle and needed to be cleaned and there seemed no logical way of doing this. In Airport Mania you can swap the 'planes that need different locations. I was so disappointed as I had a game credit I nearly used before even playing, glad I didn't. This had great potential, it's a shame it was so frustrating :( October 2, 2014
This is an old game... This game came out about 7 years ago... that's why the graphics are not the best... October 7, 2014
