The Torment of Whitewall Collector's Edition is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solving The Torment of Newer Games! Sulus Games' 2012 classic Adventure/Hidden Object is reminiscent of the quality older pure adventure games interwoven with hidden object scenes. The Torment of Whitewall is a delight for true Adventure gamers and a treat for HOG lovers who always wanted to play a long file game--the best of both worlds. Game was fluid. well written with magnificent artwork/cinematography and a spectacular storyline in which you, the detective are after the bad folks with earnest. Excellent! Thank you Sulus Games--developers of other greats such as the "Strange Cases" series, "The Missing" and others gamers will find themselves familiar. Enjoy! -Mama Mia-

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MY REVIEW CANCELS YOURS Ordinarily, I would have given this game only a 4 star, but there were so many bad reviews that I think are undeserved that I decided to up it to a 5 star to counter balance all the negatives. I played the whole game, plus the bonus chapter, on casual mode. This game has a lot going for it and includes some of my favorite things that should be in a CE, like an interactive map and a built-in strategy guide. The map in particular makes this game a lot easier to play. The HOS varied in difficulty; some were fairly easy, while others were harder. I did get caught with some of the names of the items that made no sense to me. A "shawl" ended up looking like a folded handkerchief to me and I never did figure out what a "hammer opener" was, but that's what hints are for. The puzzles also varied in difficulty, but then I am good at some kinds of puzzles but not at others. Thankfully, there is a skip button and in the casual mode it charged up quick enough to keep my level of frustration down. The game was fairly intuitive and I only had to use the strategy guide a couple of times, both times because I couldn't figure out how to work a puzzle. Some of the puzzles could have used better instructions. I never used the hint button to find out where to go next; I just went right to the map and didn't try to remember where things were that needed to be done. I don't have a lot of patience and, for me, games need to be fun. That's why I almost always play the casual mode. If a game frustrates me, either by too much back and forth with no easy way to cut to the chase, or too many puzzles that do not require any thought, just clicking at random till your mind goes numb, then no matter how great the graphics, or the storyline or anything else about the game, I will not rate it very high. This game was very enjoyable for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OK, I'll be the contrarian Well drawn. Atmospheric music (and I usually turn it off). The game play is fluid and fairly linear. There are more repeat HOS than I usually like but they are not junk piles, there's a reasonable number of items to find, and they're mostly logically placed. 1 demerit for not keeping items found previously out of the scene during subsequent re-visits. Bottom line: This is a nice-looking, uncomplicated game with a fast, helpful Hint system and a teleporting map. This is definitely my kind of game.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LOVE EXPERIMENTS!!! Storyline - You play a detective called in to solve a string of kidnappings of young women. Animation/VOS - Excellent Hint - Recharges quickly and acts as a guide. Map - Does transport to areas of interest. I used the hint instead. Journal - Lists information, photos and clues. IHOS - Repeated, the usual small to large objects, a bit crowded. Misclick Penalty - None Puzzles/Mini-Games - Found some to be unusual but I did manage to solve a few. Skip - Moderate recharge. Inventory - Items used quickly in other locations. Music - Soft, not intrusive. Bonus Chapter - Same qualities as above but it was great to go back in time 100 years when the first abductions started and why. A note to puzzle lovers - this may not be a game for you. Though I did not count the IHOS, they outnumber the puzzles/mini-games but you may still be interested in the adventure. Give it a try and happy gaming!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bum Rap First, I never do reviews, or buy games because of them, but I think this one got a bum rap. I played the demo and thought it was a good game. There are a lot of HO scenes in it but you usually get something you need from them. The story line is very good. The hint recharges quickly. Always try the demos and make up your own mind if you like the game or not.... just saying :-)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Whitehall?? I love this game! I just finished playing my hour & it seemed like I'd only been playing for a few minutes. It was over way too soon. I thought the graphics were excellent, the HO's were very clear & it seemed like the people's mouths were coordinated with the words! I would definitely buy this game!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A shadow kinaps young women........... Played 30 minutes, easy - 3 modes, easy, normal, hard - Integrated SG which only shows one chapter, it doesn't mention a bonus chapter in the extras - Voice overs - Notebook - Map, you can jump from one place to another and it shows areas of interest - Beautiful animated characters - Hint refills quickly in easy mode - H0, you interact, you sometimes have to perform an action to access them - Good mini games - Skip button which fills very quickly - Gorgeous graphics - Good music Young women are being kidnapped by a shadow. You're the detective and investigate with the help of a little boy. This looks like a very good game, a straight buy for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Great game! I didn't really think I would care for this game. It started off kind of slow but as you get further into the game and the storyline takes affect you become so involved you won't want to stop playing. I was disappointed when the FT ended. I did get to play both the CE and the SE but didn't need the Strategy Guide at all - the hints worked great. The HOGs were not difficult to spot the items, even the "hidden" ones and the hint button regenerated very quickly both in and out of the HOG. If you follow the hints you can follow the game very well. The graphics were bright, the voiceovers clear and concise. I think this is a game for everyone from beginners to experts. This glam-ma gives both the CE and the SE a two-thumbs up. At least give the FT a whirl - what can you lose?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a go for me :) I think the reviewers are a bit harsh on this one,,,but each to his own. I am enjoying this game. There is a lot to do and I think the story line is just fine. I bought this game and I do not regret it one bit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Mostly HOS, with puzzles as well Graphics are crisp and clear. Very good strategy guide with pictures and text. Map that lets you teleport. Outside of HOS, hint points to task, or in direction you need to go. Beautiful Latin music, which seemed out of place in old England. Good story about a mad scientist, but there are so many HOS. I like a good adventure/story, but this story is broken up with the huge number of HOS. Good vocals, except the characters' accents were from all over the place. The little boy who helps has an American accent, and a few others sound American as well.
