Fairway Solitaire: Tee to Play 4.3 5 209 209
Big fan of this game I loved the first golf solitaire game and am glad this game came out. It's very similar to the first game with the gopher, scoring and voice overs. So likely if you enjoyed the first one, you'll like this also. There is no wide screen, but it's not a big deal, just opened in windowed mode. This game is very challenging and some sections I had to play twice to get through them. I'm thinking it will take a long while before I get to the end of the game at this rate which is a good thing! A great way to lose a few hours! First, for those who complain that you have to buy extras in this game - you don't HAVE to buy them to play the game just as well as the previous 2 'buy' editions of Fairway - they are an additional form of cheats anyway, and if you desperately need them I suggest that instead of spending your money maybe you should just practice more. Now to the game: Fairway Solitaire Tee to Play is very easy to learn with an excellent tutorial, you just take a higher or lower card (to the upturned deck card) from the playing field or turn a card from the deck if there are no cards playable. Game is over when there are no more moves available and your 'golf' score is determined by how many cards are left on the field. If you have played either Fairway Solitaire or Fairway you will immediately recognize the fabulous course designs, mode of play, sound affects and voice overs. That pesky gopher is still there in much the same vein as Wile E Coyote with his dastardly bag of backfiring tricks to try and disrupt your game, only this time the commentator warns you of his appearance on the green and you get 5 points if you manage to klonk him on the head - not sure yet whether they are useful points but it is fun regardless! You can also buy some same extras with your virtual winnings as well as achieve hi point trophies plus 1-3 gold stars on each course depending on how you score. I will replay the courses until I have filled them all with the maximum 3 gold medals as I did in the previous two games, and considering that there are 72 courses without the 18 bonus purchases, that makes for pretty lengthy gameplay, particularly as this is a freebie! Well done and thank you Big Fish - oh! and you look very dashing sporting your handlebar moustache and your Scottish tartan vest and cap! June 5, 2013
Fairway Solitaire: A Pro Shop Review As an owner of the paid version of "Fairway", this free to play version had a lot to live up to... happily it does that and then some! LIKES: => EASY TO LEARN! (Fantastic tutorial, hints and tips.) => MORE THAN A GAME (Helps to build strong logical thinking as you choose the "best play" for each turn. An excellent game to share with the family.) => An amusing diversion (An excellent way to spend some time and unwind. Even after "finishing" the game - it is compelling enough to want to re-play) => Witty voice overs! (A lot of laughs, even at the "bad" jokes...) => An adorable gopher!!! (Cute little troublemaker!) => Hilarious story line! (No spoilers - sorry!) => Excellent sound and controls for sound! (Individual controls for ambient sound, voice overs, sfx, and music - adjust each to a level that pleases YOU) => Challenging ...but not too much! (As levels increase so does the difficulty - but not so much so that you MUST pay or fail.) DISLIKES: => Involves REAL MONEY PURCHASES PLEASE NOTE ---- you do NOT have to purchase anything to play successfully at this game. The "best" paid purchases are the upgrades in the golf shop (if you decide to go that way) start at 99 CENTS and cost LESS THAN $15 all together (which I can easily spend on something less worthy any given day). Some of the upgrades you can buy, I do not even care for - so spending any real cash would be a personal choice for your own skill level and needs. THE ONLY WAY IT COSTS MORE than $15 is if you buy golf shop bucks (which are easily earned in game!) ... OR if you decide to get the "Midas clubs"... which in my opinion is CHEATING. (The game also allows you to earn randomly one of these Midas clubs FREE) => Slightly annoyed that this game actually had some cooler trophies and other facets than my paid game does...grrr. => Had kind of hoped for a new story involving the gopher, and some new voice over comment and jokes - but hey, maybe the will come out with a part 2.... :) June 5, 2013
Gret solitaire game I nearly didn't try the game as I dislike the "pay to play" element. But I love solitaire so I gave it a go. I'm still playing - up to level 49 now - still enjoying it and haven't spent a penny! Just the right level of difficulty June 9, 2013
It seems to good to be true....but it's true! When I saw Big Fish was offering a "Free" game, I was expecting some sort of abbreviated version that required you to pay to access certain levels, or some item that you can't really continue without. Wrong!! Not only is this a full game, it is actually an *improvement* on the pay version of Fairway, with more achievements, more interesting layouts, and even better rendering. Awesome of Big Fish and the game developers to offer this outstanding game to their customers...I hope this ends up being a good move for BF and they release other classic favorites in full free versions. Awesome - Gopher is as Silly as Ever! I absolutely LOVED this addition to the Fairway franchise! While the screen was not "full," the cards were large enough, and everything was quite visible. In settings, one can turn down the background sounds (sea, wind, etc.) quite easily. One earns "bucks" quite easily, and can use them to "purchase" specific clubs or upgrades. If one wants to spend real money, an excellent purchase is Midas clubs (can be used for anything) for $9.99, which is $6.99 if one is a member of BFG. This gives you 16 FULL sets of utility clubs!!!! (16 x 9 = 144 clubs). Excellent value! The courses are quite challenging - after the first course, you do have to plan your moves ahead! The voice-overs are amusing, and aimed at an adult audience. The gopher, is, of course, his usual nasty but silly self. The hardest "penalty" card is for getting out of the rough, in that you have to plan ahead, as the card you use to "cut" the rough is taken away, and unless the card underneath is playable, you pretty much waste a card. As a tip, one may want to look at the available trophies before playing, as while at the end of a course the game will indicate if you won any trophies, it won't tell you which ones. If you go to the trophy icon and scroll through, those that are "glowing" are the ones you were awarded on this course. By looking at available trophies in advance, it can also give you additional goals to set for yourself. I found this addition just as addictive as the others - I also saw that one can "buy" additional courses at the end - by the way, they are available with the "bucks" one has earned, you don't have to use real money! Awesome! June 4, 2013
So much fun Thanks for this free game. What a great way to play a variation of solitaire, so enjoyable, cards are such a nice size, I can even give my specs a rest. Commentators are very funny, background sounds and location shots are so realistic. Can't wait to get back to the game and beat that gopher at his own game, I could be playing for a while to complete that feat. Have fun playing this game, only thing I wish, is that I could be able to maximize the page, would love to see it in it's entirity. June 6, 2013
Have all the fairway games Love the Fairway Solitaire Games. Just one more great game to play. It's a very fun game because it isn't the usual boring solitaire game. The voice overs are great. June 4, 2013
Fun for all the family!!! So here I am with my very first review fellow fishies. But what a great game to start with!! This game is a great game to buy for the family to play. You find yourself having so much fun that time just slips away. But if you can be persuaded to share this game it makes it a fun challenge to see if you can beat each others scores and the MOLE!! The first Fairway Solitaire game was good but this version takes it to another level. You get to buy the club of choice to get really long drives and these are rewarded with cash not points allowing you to buy more. The commentary is still there and sounds just like it would for a real golf match. (I know as my husband is an avid golfer and it is often on our TV) Another good point for this game is it has a storyline and gives you a look at golf from the MOLES point of view. And it is good value as there are a lot of golf courses to visit. Very enjoyable game. A game that will last as you can play it again and again. I hope you all enjoy the game as much as I do..... Thanks BFG for another great game. June 4, 2013
Cute ... and fun to play I have played golf in a lot of different formats, but this version adds a cuteness that makes it new and fresh. The cutouts are funny, the gopher is obviously the bad guy ... The sports announcers are great, but after awhile the sounds and music got to me so I turned that down. The powerups are good, you have the opportunity to buy needed clubs and power ups with bucks you earn in the game. There are opportunities to buy other powerups with real money, if you are into spending real money, but it is not necessary to play and enjoy and play the game. Unlike some of the other Free to Play games, you don't have to wait for energy to be replenished or anything like that ... just play until you get tired, or have to go to work ... etc. Great card game!
