Excursions of Evil is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Game! I loved the graphics and the fact that there were quite a few hidden objects games with others mixed in. I wish it had been longer though, because I really enjoyed playing it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from You can't judge a book by it's cover... ... nor games by their simplistic graphics. :] IMHO, anyone who hasn't finished this game is missing out on a super great, and suspenseful storyline!! Granted the graphics are not what we are used to on BFG and the mini games were unexpected and a bit frustrating at first, [given they were a focus and one of the criteria for finishing the game], yet, again: WOW, good storyline! And the games are VERY do-able once you figure them out! : } Anyhoo, with patience and an adventurous spirit, anyone can get through this game and you will be glad you did. The game has a true beginning, solid substance in plot design and a great ending. Also, if you take the time to 'soak in' the environment, envision yourself first person [trying to save your friend], you may also appreciate the design as well. It truly does all pull together once you get into the flow of the game. So, once I got the 'hang' of this game and got into it, I thoroughly enjoyed it and am very happy I didn't pass it up as I was about to when I checked out the demo. Don't dismiss this one too quickly, especially if you enjoy 'outside of the box', creative and immersive gameplay!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GREAT REVIEWS!! Short but sweet comments: I downloaded the demo to try it out because of the reviews and must say those of you who posted did not let me down. I was so disappointed when it was over because I was enjoying it so much I could have sworn I'd only been playing for a few mins. Would love to see a sequel!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Expect a fun moment I fell in love with this game. The graphics are great. The story is really funny. And plus, it doesn't make ventilation noises on my laptop. These days, it happen offenly with the new games. So it is a five star!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fun Hidden Object Game I really enjoyed playing this game simply because of the HOS, there is one in every room. You can't put too much thought into this game, the graphics are really basic and there isn't much to do in any scene except play the hidden object game and an occasional mini game here and there. I will say that the mini games are a bit confusing, I had no clue as to what I was supposed to do with the small, medium and large diamonds until I presses the skip button and saw the solution. You can play some games that the murderer sends you on you phone, some of them are quite entertaining like matching falling cupcakes or a game of pong with a skeleton skull and bones. If you look at this game as just a hidden object game then it's fun, don't forget to use the battery on the hint cat to activate him, enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ULTRA CHALLENGE (even in casual) First review on BFG – 2013. The “evil” is left to the last couple of scenes (*see end of review if you wish to know), and is a teeny part of the whole game. Still, not for kids. After playing several amazing games in a row, I needed something with no excessive movement, colors, plots and so on. However, it is anything but a simple game, due to bare minimal of guidance, and some unskippable puzzles and games. GRAPHICS: Colorful and simple, sometimes reminding me of watercolor storybook pictures. Nice view of cliffs and countryside at the lighthouse. Indoors, the house has lovely (if slightly blurry), aged furnishings, with attention paid to the light and shadows. FULLSCREEN (not widescreen). On my computer it played full-screen (not widescreen); I can imagine if you stretched it, it would look terrible. 2 DIFFICULTY OPTIONS: Casual and Advanced. CELLPHONE and YELLOW STICKY NOTES: These are your tools for contact. Look-out for the yellow-stickies. Exit successive screens of the cell phone, by pressing the oval button at the bottom, until you are out. HINT: ***The cursor does convert to a MAGNIFYING GLASS” if there’s something to click on or obtain. ***40 seconds to recharge on casual. ***Won’t lead you or tell you where to go. But it will give you a suggestion, eg, “you can pick a small lock with this,” or it will circle something in the inventory and tell you where to go and use it, eg, “you can use this in the aquarium.” ***Sparkles for the hidden object scenes on casual. ***Hint won’t help you in puzzles, except for a generalized aim. It won’t give you a first or next step. ***BATTERY FOR YOUR CAT – so you can receive HINTS! The cat is lying asleep at the right-side of the inventory. IF you get to the first HOP and get stuck because you haven’t added the battery, simply hit MENU, then hit PLAY again. This will get you out of the HOP, and give you a chance to put the battery in. When you return to the HOP, the HOP will start from the beginning again. INVENTORY: stays locked at all times. When you hover over the items, you won’t get a description of the item. You have to CLICK AND DRAG the objects. HOPS: TONS!!! Wordlist type and simple looking, but later on some actually look a bit more artistic. Some HOPS are difficult to see, but some are just well-hidden, or only half-showing. PUZZLES: ***Basic instructions will appear if you click the Hint button. You won’t get first or next steps. ***The SKIP button will allow you to skip it. ***You can RESTART the puzzle by going to MENU and then back in to the puzzle. *** I came across at least 3 that you couldn’t skip: A “balance 7 weights”, that aren’t labeled, a “change all the squares to white” and some other, and of course the 8 cellphone games as described below. 8 CELL PHONE GAMES: You must beat the score of 1000 on all of them to progress. Use your JOKERS you collect on the game you find the most difficult. The jokers extend play. Extended play is sometimes MORE difficult than the first time around and you CAN’T get more Jokers once you’ve used them all up! I suggest practicing if need be, and getting at least 400-500 points before you start to use a joker. The games are things like: ***Tennis-type: the ball rebounds and you destroy descending rectangles. ***Direct matching cupcakes onto columns to prevent them stacking up to the top. ***Hit the same color bug, that’s currently on the “shooting -bug’s" back, as they circle around you more and more. *** Feed the correct candy to the frog, according to the frog color. ***Direct speeding shapes onto the correct column before they hit the bottom. *** Get as many “jewels” in columns according to the changing color at the bottom, before you run out of time. ***2 more similar types. MAP: NO MAP! : For your directional options: hover mouse to sides, top and bottom, and CORNERS (to get a diagonal arrow). In addition, if you move in a particular direction, you MIGHT just be looking back into in the SAME room. So be SURE to take notice of what the features of the room are, to get your bearings. Exit a scene or a window within a scene by clicking the green ‘x’ in a circle, which appears sometimes in the top right and sometimes top left-hand corner. SOUND EFFECTS: Environment and music. However, there weren’t any actual environment sounds, only mouse-click actions and/or music. But with the mouse-click etc there is a subtle but pleasant hum going on in the background. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SPOILER ALERT:PUZZLE HELP >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ***Clock-face PUZZLE: There’s one puzzle that doesn’t give you ANY clues. You are faced with about 50 or so clock-faces counting down. What you have to do is match 2 times, until there are none left. ***”CANDY TO THE FROG” CELL PHONE GAME: To give the same color candy to the same color frog, don’t click on the candy as it passes over the frog and don’t go up and down or pull the string that connects the candy, you’ll have very limited success if you do. Instead, go ACROSS the string (side to side), in a sawing motion! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> SPOILER ALERT: LAST SCENES. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> In a dingy hovel, you see, half a skeleton lying on a table, knives hanging up, a skull, and chains with handcuffs. The evil man, speaking to you on the phone, makes this last bit worse. The last scene is a man tied to a chair with dynamite next to him. He is facing away from you. I couldn’t tell from the ending if something bad really happened or if it was all some kind of “hoax experience” like a theme park at Halloween (except much worse). Either way, it was a bit of a weird and unpleasant ending. I had to give it 4*, because I enjoyed it more than many games I’ve given 4* to. It was DIFFERENT!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Fun minigames While the actual HOG is basic I really enjoyed the mini games and the fact you can go back and play again and again to beat your own score plus the challenge of not being able to continue if you don't get the required minimum score....frustrating at times but worth persisting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Evil Lurks Everywhere What a fun game and so different from the usual. I wasn't sure at the beginning as the graphics were a bit too cartoon like but as the story commenced it was easy to get hooked. HOS were fun and hard enough to be a challenge as were the mini games. With no real instructions you really needed to use your thinking cap. I really enjoyed them because they were not the usual run of the mill. I especially liked matching up the cupcakes. The use of the mobile phone was very creative and for a change it was nice having no map. This game overall was very entertaining and strangely enough relaxing. Music was not overwhelming, it just kind of made you drift from scene to scene solving puzzles, playing HOS and seeing where it all ended up. Happy gaming with this one.
