She said yes! Alan was finally going to marry his sweetheart, Catalina. She only had one small request before the wedding, to ask for her father’s blessing. The young couple travels to the small town in Mexico where her father is from, arriving just in time for the annual Day of the Dead celebration. But when he doesn’t meet them at the train station, that’s only the beginning of their problems. Is it just the heat, or did that book talk to you? Calavera: Day of the Dead Collector's Edition is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 111.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Interesting Storyline & Fun Visuals I haven't reviewed in a while, but this game really prompted me to share how much I enjoyed it. I loved the storyline and the visuals were great. The music was quirky and fit right in with the memorable characters. Although most of the characters were skeletons, they were not gruesome, at least not for me. They were entertaining and the book guide amused me. The main storyline ended in a satisfying way and the bonus game for the collector's edition gave a little extra. I wasn't rushing along to just finish up the game and move on to something else.. I was really interested in seeing what I'd have to do next. The really nice thing I liked about the collector's edition was the paper craft that was provided along with the usual wallpapers, music and bonus game. It's definitely worth checking out as I was hooked immediately!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Calavera=Sugar Skull, and the game is sweet Very engaging game! Decent storyline, great graphics, good music, fun characters. My only complaint is the puzzles were on the easy side, but I really enjoyed this game! It had moments that made me think and work. I found that I wanted to keep going back and finish the game for a change. Most games now days are so tweeny and boring. Not here. You get mature game play. I like the whole feel of the game, the Day of the Dead theme is Great! Give the demo a try, it is a bit slow in the beginning.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it just for the graphics This was fun. It´s been a while since I´ve finished a game with regret. The puzzles were challenging but not super difficult, but I found the HOS a bit simple. I enjoyed the graphics immensely and the voice overs were quite good (for a change). I shall miss the sugar skulls :)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome Game I don't need to tell you what the game is about as you can read up on that. I think this would be the best H/O game I have played to date. 5 stars from me. Great puzzles and mini games I hadn't come across before and I have played heaps! The game was a bit creepy come quirky! Loads of things to do. Totally recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from New level of adventure! This is first time I've seen so many new types of minigame (walking on board was awesome), although first 15 mins wasn't very exciting (maybe the Book was exeption). But overall I loved the story, beautiful graphics, cool music and the power of imagination of creators! But I had to say that gameplay was had (lots of hinting).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very unique and upbeat game! I was very excited to see a game that wasn't about vampires, ghosts, lost children, or some fairytale storyline. This was a very fun, upbeat, and entertaining game. It almost reminded of the game Grim Fandango. Although very fun, nothing is quite as fun as Grim Fandango (hint hint BF!). I sure would love to see more game verities like this one. Great job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delightful surprise! This is such a cute and enjoyable game. The robot was the cutest thing and so funny. One time I just laughed out loud at something the robot said. There is movement from location to location, however, it was not difficult for me to remember where each place was. I highly recommend this game. It's refreshing to have a game that is not on the "dark side" with witches, ghosts, etc. More games like this, please.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's a dead man's party! Hands down, this is the BEST game Big Fish has ever released (IMHO).Graphics and music give Calavera: Day of the Dead CE a lively 'party' feel, but the actual game play takes it to a new level. For me, one of the most interesting aspects of the game is many NPCs. Rambling around in abandoned towns and houses can be depressing and deary, so having colorful, amusing characters was a welcome change that really held my attention. However, the most impressive aspect of Calavera is the clever humor which runs through out the game. It is the little details that really make a difference -- good dialogue, amusing mini-scenes (the skeletal mice were my favorite), and some hilarious posters & notes -- giving Calavera a depth not always found in other games. I hope that I'm not jaded, but Calavera offers something that is a step up from the usual HOS game. Here are a few other points: -- Even on the Casual setting, each screen presents a unified look -- no objects obviously out-of-place or visually different from its surroundings -- and none were "pixel hunts" requiring a great deal of random clicking to find the right spot. In every case, a new scene presented itself as colorful and visually interesting. -- In this game, HOS have an actual purpose -- obtaining a necessary item -- and were visually interesting. Additionally, the HOS were appropriate to game play; that is, many of the objects were in context with the Day of the Dead theme, rather than standard images seen in every HOS. -- Although the type of puzzles on offer are the same as in other games, the detail and visual design made them unique and interesting. Plus, there is an interesting mix -- some logic, some hand-eye coordination -- but none were frustrating brain twisters. I thought the mini-games were fun and some, such as the skull hunt, made the usual running back and forth more interesting. To conclude, Calavera: Day of the Dead is the MOST AWESOMEST game, released by Big Fish, that I've ever played.
