Fearful Tales: Hansel and Gretel Collector's Edition is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 91.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thank Goodness - No Gingerbread Children! This fable is not really suitable for a child. Plus the witch is not typical of most fairytale villains. She has a bizarre face and her body is rather provocative for this kind of story, IMO. The characters are quirky. I loved the white bird and the feeble old man at the beginning of game. The "Strange Lady" meets up with Hansel & Gretel in the forest and is intent on taking them for her own. She takes her basket of enchanted gingerbread men (mean little critters with sharp teeth) to their home. They are her minions who assist with her evil deeds. After putting Mom into a sleep spell. they kidnap Hansel & Gretel. They are taken to the witch's yummy looking Candy House and held captive with 2 other children. They are scared, weak from hunger and over-worked and desperately want to escape. Mom awakens from the spell and the story is about her journey to find and rescue her babes, and destroy the witchy woman. She gets some help from a lovely interesting creature and encounters lots and lots of chocolate detours. But she ultimately accomplishes her mission. Your game time is displayed when you exit and boy was I shocked at how long I played!! Surely it was due to my enjoying the scenery and nodding off sometimes while playing (lol). Otherwise, the game would be 14-plus hours long and that is not possible! There are 40 tiny cupcakes hidden throughout the game, silly achievements to earn and a cute little gingerbread man hint-keeper, who paces in circles while waiting for the hint to reload. The HOGs are not difficult and some are interactive which is always fun. They are not a cluttered mess so really no need to use hints. I loved the puzzles. They were skippable. I did end up cheating once - had too much trouble with the toy knight! The hint button worked as a jump map. The hand-drawn graphics are not vividly colored like in most fairytales, they are rather dreary through most of the story. Animation had a dated look but didn't diminish the quality of the scenery, it just added a "primitive" appearance. The ending was not a big battle, Mom just went in and took care of business. It did have a surprise twist to it, though. There is a bonus chapter which I was unable to finish because of a glitch that I could not fix. In one of the HOGs, I was unable to pick up the spoon. Other than this incident, the game ran perfectly. I do recommend this quirky game, for a relaxing change of pace that's just a little different than our usual adult fare. God Bless

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't be misled by the graphics When I first opened this game to play I was very disappointed by the cartoonish type graphics, however, ten minutes in, I was hooked! This game is exactly what is says on the tin, with a mini twist, its basically Hansel & Gretel! The little gingerbread man as a helper is fab and contributes to the story in the main game. The hint button takes you exactly where you need to be if you use it. All in all, a fab game and well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very original game I'm glad to see a developer that isn't afraid to do something original. Some players obviously don't appreciate that but an artist like me certainly does. I think that since Drawn series no one made a game with this original artwork. It has a very distinctive style and every scene is delightful. I wish there were more games like this one. Overall the game hat a grotesque like feeling thar hit the spot for me. The story was enjoyable and original. Music was whimsical and not annoying. For some players the only downside may be too many HOS. Would definately play again!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautifully made, a little short I have not purchased this game yet; I think I will, though, even though it's short. It's beautifully crafted, with perfect illustrations and interesting tasks. I really like this kind of HO scene, with a clear list and some interaction. Gameplay was well done; nothing was sticky or glitchy, no tasks were shockingly stupid/illogical, things were generally in reasonable places. Few cut scenes, and they were skippable. (yay!) Big thumbs up to the developers, make more like this, please!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sweet Treat Oh my goodness, this game was so up my alley! I love games based on old nursery rhymes, etc. and this one, while modest on the level of challenge, was quite fulfilling. I just wish it was a tad longer. The graphics were fantastic! The bonus game wasn't incredibly long, but was nice. You will want to pay close attention for the hidden cupcakes. I would love to see a sequel to this game in the very near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful! Nothing to reply, a very pleasant and dynamic game. Surely one of my favourites. Obviously not all people like this kind of "fairy tale games", but based on my taste I love them! I hope I can play more other games similar to this one. Ciao! :)
