Paranormal State: Poison Spring is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 61.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loved the outdoors ! Gorgeous, evening woodlands. 20+ HOPS Available at BFG since 2013 . Review based on completed game. This game is mainly outdoors, but you also get a woodland visitors' center, camping ground for workers, and museum, all set in the woods. Lots and lots of places to visit, and meandering paths. Loved the spooky, evening, moonlit ambience. Good, believable characters and good voice acting. Interaction is regular, but you can speed up the dialogue by clicking. Graphics are very clear, and not disjointed. Natural colors are used and are not overly colorful. 20+ HOPS, straightforward wordlists. Fun puzzles. Great sound. Fills widescreen. The HOPS were very clear. Not a standard format map. SOUNDS: 2. Music is totally separate. In my game, I had to increase sound a lot to get a good volume. DIFFICULTIES: 3 and interchangeable HINT: Will first lead you to the correct area and begins to recharge. If you still need help, it will show which item to use. However, sometimes it will just lead you to the Map. MAP: The map you use is posted to a notice board which you have to get to in the game, from that point it is a travel map, but anyone looking for a standard 2017 map included in your inventory won't find it here. INVENTORY: Remains visible at all times JOURNAL: With extra notes and recorded clues I wish there were more games with this quality and type of graphics.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SERIOUSLY GOOD GAME REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME. I thoroughly enjoyed this game which was quite long for a single edition. There is: * Voiceovers (with dialogue); * Casual, Easy and Extreme modes of play; * Journal * Use of the EMF meter, EPV Recorder and the EVP. The graphics are very good and crisp to the eye. Its a bit like looking at a comic book because the characters don't really move or use their lips, but everywhere is crystal clear to see and its easy to roam around without scenes being dark or dreary. Sound is very good. There are a few pieces of music which were truly creepy and one piece of music that was quite fast and had my foot tapping as I was playing. The hidden object games are interactive silhouette and straightforward. Some of these are put items back to their original place, others where you need to find various items to make an object, and one with spot the difference. These had a good challenge to them and I spent a good 5 or so minutes on each one. There are plenty of them and I enjoyed all of them. Well, the mini-games ranged from being quite easy to unbelievably hard. One particular mini-game I must have spent at least 30 minutes on. It was jumping over all the panel buttons until only one was left. Sounds easy aye - WRONG. I was head butting the computer screen at the end. However, challenging as some of them were, I still loved them all. You do find pieces of a map which are put on a board and you go there to get to other places. Kind of like an interactive map, but you need to get to the board to do it. You have the use of the EMF meter, the EPV Recorder and the EVP. You will use each of these a few times throughout the game. One is like a puzzle (swap puzzle pieces to get the full picture), one is with a metal detector to find items under the ground and the other is finding symbols. These were fun to do. In total the game took me about 7 hours to play, during the course of the week. I was disappointed when it finished. I really hope there is another one to come. Happy playing fishies.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from REALLY FUN GAME I am in the process of playing this great game which I purchased on sale. What a surprise to find that I am enjoying this so much. If this had been available in a CE version with collectibles, achievements and morphing items it would have been a perfect game. I am not having any problems traveling around with the map, but it does not jump you to an area, you need to travel there. The Hidden Object areas are interactive, which I love. I think it's really fun when you find an item like a dog, and it barks or something else screams when you click on it. It is spooky and a little scary, but I like those types of games. I'm not having any technical problems at all with the game, but my computer is new. The Hidden Object games have been getting so sophisticated lately, that I feel as though they are more of a puzzle-adventure game. This game is perfect for my taste. If you like Hidden Object games, give this one a try. I think you will like it too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best games ever . . Paranormal State, Poison Spring deals with happenings during the US Civil War, in a beautiful mountainous area littered with war remains. From a visitor’s campsite in the forest a team of young paranormal investigators search for clues to why some dark force roam and seem to have possessed folk visiting the otherwise famous site. The splendid artwork is sustained throughout the game; the soundtrack supports the eerie atmosphere and to keep up with the ongoing story and investigation with cinematic slots informing you of what’s next. We have a journal which it is important to relate to for every step, we have the kind of apparatus paranormal investigators use to find tracks and evidence of the dark force, which invades one of the members in the group during their work. HOSs are beautifully done too, intriguing hide n’ seek. The puzzles are not too difficult , but lots of fun and of a repetitive type which makes sence and supports the storyline chapter for chapter. One never looses track of the exiting and haunting story - which has a happy ending with the team’s successful conclusion of the task they were called in to solve. Thank you Legacy & BFG for this brillant game ( wish a CE version had been available ).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My new favorite game! The title already says it: This is my new favorite game. In some ways it actually beats my all-time favorite 'MCF: Dire Grove'. The setting as well as the story were interesting, the music and the graphics excellent. Sometimes the next scene/location took a bit long to load but I guess that's the fault of my Mac. The HOS were good but twice I had problems assembling objects which was terribly frustrating. But after I got some tips from the forum it was okay. I often used the hint since I tend to lose patience easily. The puzzles were not too easy (I actually skipped a few) and not too hard. What makes this game so amazing for me is the fact that you are actually part of a team. And that's something not many games offer. The characters are all interesting and have their own typical traits. Of course the interaction with them is scripted and somewhat limited but I really did not mind. The voice overs were amazing and fitted the characters. In this game you are not the lone investigator but have nice colleagues at your side and that's great! Btw, I had now idea this game is actually based on a TV series. Maybe I should check it out...;) The length was great for a SE. It took around 7 hours to finish the game in the normal mode. I would have loved to buy the CE but I could not find it on this site.
