Shtriga: Summer Camp is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from BASED ON SE FULL GAME FINISHED It took me around 3 hours to play this whole SE. I agree 100% with what Penmom36 said in her review of this game. 9 times out of 10 we have exactly the same taste in casual games. Most of us that are here at BFG for the long run, and have played the older games as well as the new ones, will probably enjoy this game the most. THESE ARE THE THINGS I LOVED: THE GRAPHICS. I adore computerized graphics where scenes and HOS items are easy to identify. The graphics in this game are perfect. It is so sad that ALL the new games seem to be hand drawn and those of us that prefer the look of Xbox, & PS3 games don't have this type of graphic to choose from anymore. MOST IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW: ***** All widescreen computers. You need to go into "options" and change check both boxes *x*Fullscreen AND *x* Widescreen together. You will have a black bar on either side but it REALLY clarifies the graphics. This is an older game so there is no portal task map. There are no voice overs but the cut scenes were really REALLY good. There is not even a blog walkthrough guide to help you through. So you need to REALLY MOUSE OVER A SCENE to identify items and what to do next. Same with zoom windows to insure you don't miss an object needed to progress as there are no constant sparkles to tell you where everything is. In this game there are a lot of HOS. They are all list type- my favorite. So if you don't like HOS I doubt this game is for you. A PERFECT GAME FOR HALLOWEEN. The creep factor is high. A Shtriga is an evil spirit that can manifest as a person or animal. Now this is where the story bummed me out a bit. DIDN'T LIKE: At one point, around chapter 3 --I am guessing.... I figured out when a chapter ends by-- you lose all inventory pick-ups at the end of each chapter... This shtriga took on the body of a black cat. Black cats are already considered "unlucky" so I didn't like that part of the story. It makes them harder to be adopted from shelters in real life; and it's hard enough already. I also did not like that the number 6 --3 times-- is used in a HOS. And finally, you come upon a house belonging to a hunter and there are birds about and they are NOT flying. I wish the developers would really take into account how many of us don't want to see this kind of thing in a casual game. I did continue on though, BECAUSE this game was SO different from the cookie cutter games of today, and so like the games of yesterday, that I LOVED IT. I could not stop playing. I also loved the challenge of it. It is probably better for more experienced gamers, also the long timers devoted here at BFG, or a person that has more patience. IF YOU LIKED THIS GAME: TRY THESE GREAT FOR HALLOWEEN OLDER GAMES. 1. Shadows: Price for your fears. -- this game starts at a Halloween party and the graphics & play are very similar. I actually play it every Halloween! 2. Campfire Legends: This is a 3 game series, and the last two are the best --The Babysitter & The Last Act. 3. Shiver #both The Vanishing Hitchhiker & The Poltergeist# 4. Voodoo Whisperer: Curse of a legend 5. Mystery of the Ancients: Lockwood Manor & 6. Dark Dimensions: City of Fog I loved this game and wish the developers would bring these awesome graphics back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a surprise - great game. Was not expecting this game to be so enjoyable. Graphics good, a bit dark, but you can still see clearly. There was scene after scene of interesting game play. Just when you finished a section, another one opened up. It was a really long game for a SE game. Would have made a great CC edition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I hope they do another game I really enjoyed this game. The graphics were top notch and the game seemed to flow nicely. There are quite a lot of locations, maybe not as many as in the " Brink of Consciousness" games, but a bunch. This game was on the easier side of the scale, but I very much liked it. I hope they will do a sequel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Fantastic SE What a delightful surprise! A great no frills thriller, full of interesting puzzles, easy to see HOS, and enough spooky atmosphere to satisfy a campfire story telling contest. The graphics are perfect, the sound fits the scenes to a tee, and there's a story being told. I gave this five stars because it proves we don't always need all the bells and whistles of the big CEs to satisfy a need to explore a HO game. Bravo to the developers, and thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CREEPY I'm a big fan of this dev and the clever creepiness they are able to achieve. I love the feel of the creepy abandoned summer camp, you truly do feel alone and a bit creeped out, as if someone is watching you. There is only a brief introduction video that shows a distraught mother pleading for help from a detective named Brenda Livingston. Several children have gone missing from summer camp and adults and children as well have become deathly ill from this unknown disease. This is a hoggers game for sure, nearly every scene will have a hidden object scene, and they are simply list finds, no interaction, no frills, just well done hidden object scenes. This is a fairly simple game that has no bells and no whistles, no collectibles, there are plenty of inventory items to find in each scene and plenty of thing to fix and unlock, but mostly there are plenty of puzzles and mini games that seem to get a little more difficult or complicated as you progress. There are simple puzzles that require you to swap tiles until you complete the picture, there are buttons that need pushed in the correct order by trial and error. There are even games such as blocks where you must adjust fuses up down left and right in order too allow the blue fuse to pass through by unblocking it. Some puzzles were more complicated such as connecting wires of different lengths and angles with the goal of getting the pressure gauge to 32. You don't use all the wires just the correct ones and I will admit this game frustrated me a wee bit! Another mini game involved flipping coins over so that only the engraved side shows and of course when you flip one coin over it would flip others you didn't want flipped. A hardcore adventure gamer will probably blow this game out of the water due to it's simplicity, but don't overlook this one. The graphics are clear and realistic, though the story has been done before and in different variations, it's still a good story. What this game does have to offer are tons of hidden object scenes and tons of mini games with a nice story and relaxing pace, so let's go find Peter, Johnny, Thomas and Kenan, enjoy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from STOP SHTRIGA AT ALL COSTS REVIEW OF COMPLETED GAME I quite enjoyed this game. Yeah I know, it doesn't have all the bells and whistle that we have all come to expect, but it really is a decent game. There is Casual and Expert modes of play and a Diary. However, there are no voiceovers or interactive map. The graphics are okay - they are quite dull with lots of grays and blacks. No much colour anywhere, but it is easy to find objects you need. I quickly got used to the graphics and just got stuck into the game. The music is orchestral and piano. The hidden object games are straightforward only which you will play twice. I played them all without any problem finding the objects, but be careful because you have to be precise where you click on each item. A few times I had to click quite a few times to actually grab the item I needed. I noticed that, the smaller or skinnier the item, the harder it was to grab it. There are lots of mini-games to play. None of these are hard to do and I've seen them all before. But still I did enjoy them. There are a lot of locations to go to, but once you have done everything in that one particular location, then you won't need to go back there again, so you can just basically keep moving forward. So don't be put off by all the arrows everywhere - there's not much backtracking. All up the game took me about 5 hours to do, however I wasn't playing fast and just took my time playing the HOPS and mini-games. Overall, I liked the game. I know its an old game and quite basic but its definitely worth having a look at and using a coupon or in a sale. I love these old type of games. Happy playing fishies.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Story was good, but missed opportunities to be so much better. As mentioned in other reviews, there is supposed to be a mysterious illness. That aspect never gets explained, nor do you ever find the evil doctor whose experiments probably caused the illnesses. The Shtriga actually helps you in your search a couple of times, so I was hoping for a plot twist there, but it never happened. So, a good solid game, but if they had developed the story just a little further, it would have been much more interesting and satisfying.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good story I believe that there will be a part 2 to this game? I enjoyed the game to the end, but what is with the red 666 in one of the HOS near the end. I found that it turn me off and would love to see a part 2 without it. Thanks

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good game This is a fairly simple and fun game. It is long, too, with many locations. The story is good and is well-told with a journal. The HOS are simple and the puzzles are mostly the usual. There isn't a map, but you really don't need one. The HINT button works well, but it is a slow charger. There aren't any bells and whistles, but the game is well-designed and fun to play.
