Another Fine Arizona Rose! It's been quite a while since the last fine Arizona Rose game, so today's release is a most welcome one. I knew before I began to play the demo that I would not be disappointed...and I wasn't. This is a superb game of its type, maybe even the best yet. Everything about this game is very nicely done, and I could not find fault in any aspect. Excellent sharp graphics, pleasant ambient music, superb game play, and a good storyline. The sound effects whilst playing the boards are very muted, in keeping with the concentration that is required whilst playing. There are two modes: Casual and Hard. Thinking myself to be a seasoned player, I dived into Hard mode. But alas, I got stuck right from the outset. What threw me is that each square in the grid, instead of being unmarked as in other similar games, has a hieroglyphic on it, and consequently it was not clear which were the cells I was keeping and which were the ones I was crossing off. So immediately, I started again in casual mode and went through the tutorial. After having done that, it was clearer, and I advanced very well. There are over 170 levels and over 10 rewards to earn. Points are awarded as you play, with more given for better play. You are [generously] allowed 5 mistakes and 4 hints on each board. This may change as you advance in the game. Interspersed with the boards are mini puzzles and hidden object scenes. These were easy and of a minimal number in the demo, and fitted nicely into the game flow. No doubt there will be more difficult ones later on. Options include: Full screen Widescreen Custom cursor Adjustable music & sound volume Overall, another superb game in the genre, and one which is highly recommendable. September 22, 2014
GREAT INLAY PUZZLE If you love the inlay grid puzzles, your going to love this one. I play it over and over. It is a long game, making it soooo worth the money. It gets to a 25x25 grid pretty fast. There are some hidden object games and some other types of puzzles. But mostly the grid. I highly recommend this game to everyone. Music isn't bad, but I put on my headphones and rock out! while working the puzzles. I think after your trial you will be hooked. May 31, 2015
arizona rose and the pharaohs riddles this game is so much fun.loved the first one.played it several times.i wish there were more like it. September 22, 2014
The best of its type. Now that I have completed the game, I will review it. These puzzle games are my favorites. Lately, the others that have been released have had guessing at squares. That, to me is a big NO-NO! Both releases from this developer (Anawiki) have had no guessing at all! It did take a while to get to harder puzzles, but they are there. If you like these pic cross (or whatever they are called) puzzles, this game is a must (as was the first Arizona Rose). I'm already looking forward to the next release. I read a couple of negative reviews and really don't understand why. To say that Fantasy Mosaics is better is almost laughable (guessing in a majority of puzzles). You will not be disappointed with this one! October 2, 2014
Great picross game! Love this game! Challenging puzzles! September 22, 2014
Starts out easy, but gets really HARD!! If you do the demo you will probably think that this is a simple game, but if you keep playing it gets much harder with 20x20 grids. I really enjoy playing this game, there are a LOT of levels!! I have been playing for several days and there is no end in sight!! I love it, very addicting!! The story is not that great, but I do not really care about that, I just like the puzzles!! If you like grid puzzles you will like this one!! I also like that it automatically has the different colors on one grid so you dont have to do all the colors separate. April 16, 2015
Fun But Not Fantastic Seems we've left the pirate scene and moved to Egypt as we join Arizona Rose once again for some pic cross adventures. I really like the fact that these puzzles are depicted in several colors automatically. The object of this type of game is to choose whether a tile gets filled in or crossed out by deduction. If the grid dimensions are 5X5 for example, and the clues given in a horizontal line are 1 1 1, the logical move would be to fill in the first tile followed by an empty tile followed by a filled tile, then another empty tile and the last tile would be filled as well, and you continue this process horizontally and vertically until a picture is finished ( don't worry if this looks confusing because there is an excellent tutorial) you are allowed 5 mistakes per game and you get 4 hints per game as well if you get stuck. There are several small mini games available to play as well such as finding hidden pieces and putting together a puzzle or rotating blocks with paths to form a complete path from one end to the other. The puzzles seem to be on the easy side so this game would be excellent for new players or even die hard fans who want to chillax for a change, enjoy! September 23, 2014
Purchased Game But Like Previous One In Series Much Better I was so excited to see this game offered today, since "Arizona Rose and the Pirates' Riddles" has been my very favorite nonogram/mosaic game for a long time. I was hoping this new Arizona Rose game would be just like it except with new puzzles. After downloading and trying the demo of this new one, I liked it well enough to get it with a coupon... BUT I don't like the graphics or the puzzle tiles and set-up as well as the ones in Arizona's Pirates' Riddles game. I don't like the "awards" set-up as well, either. I must admit these things were a big let-down. Even though the puzzle tiles were smaller in Arizona's Pirates' Riddles games, I found it easier to tell which tiles were open and which tiles were unopened or removed than with the larger tiles in this new game. I felt that the finished puzzle pictures in the earlier game were also more real looking. So, those "features" in this new game were also disappointing. Maybe it is just me... but I have found this same disappointment with sequels of other games I absolutely loved. Seems that in their desire to make the sequels different, the developers change so much about really popular games that the "magic combination" (that made the first in the series so great) is lost. I hope developers will read this post and keep it in mind when doing sequels of games that have been extremely popular. We all have our own set of likes and dislikes... so I definitely recommend you try this game if you love nonogram-type games as much as I do. Even if you don't like the style as well as you liked the style of their earlier game, you might still enjoy it. September 22, 2014
Pretty good, but so far only easy puzzles I played this game for 57 minutes of the trial period. At the beginning you get a choice between casual mode and a harder mode (forget what they called the hard mode). In the casual one you get a tutorial and it starts with easy puzzles. Harder one has no tutorial and starts with harder puzzles. Well, I picked the harder mode and it's still pretty easy. I got to level 2-12 in the time I had, and still didn't get any puzzles bigger than 10x10. Most of the puzzles take less than a minute to finish. Also from the thumbnails I thought there would be multi-colour puzzles, but that doesn't seem to be the case. They colour in automatically as you play. Other than that, it was a good game. I didn't get any puzzles that required guessing, which is a huge plus for me. There are hints and other tools you can use to help you, I didn't use any of them so I can't say exactly what they do. I could do without the mini-puzzles, but they're pretty easy and pretty few, so they're not that distracting. I'm not sure if I'll buy it because it was so easy so far. I'll see if other reviewers get past the 10x10 puzzles into something a bit tougher. If you like the simpler ones then this is a good game, I would recommend it. September 22, 2014
BASICALLY A MOSAIC GAME I purchased this game and have played it for around 3 hours on the easy mode. This mode is definitely better suited to a beginner player, although the puzzles get a little harder as you go along. I am going to start a new game in the advanced mode to see if it is more challenging. This game is called a puzzle game, but it is 99.9% mosaic. I hope I am using the correct name; these puzzles are where you have a grid with numbers on the top and left side to tell you how many cells that need to be uncovered to reveal the pattern. The easy mode starts out with a 5x5 grid with a very hands-on tutorial. The size of the grid increases the longer you play. I am at a 15x15 grid right now. At each location, you play many mosaic games, then play one other type of puzzle, then back to the mosaics. I think I saw 27 puzzles at one location, with probably 23 of them mosaics. The other puzzles, few and far between, are a good mixture of the standard fare; jigsaw, hidden object, rotating cells to open a path, rotating cells to complete a picture, etc. Again, this is for the easy mode; the style of puzzles might change in the harder mode. The storyline is OK; lots of dialog. The graphics are clear and bright. The mosaics are multi-colored, which makes them more interesting. This is a long game and can probably be played over and over again. I do think the description of the game should disclose the predominance of the mosaic puzzles, in case a player isn't into that type of game. September 22, 2014
