Grim Facade: The Artist and The Pretender Collector's Edition 3.6 5 37 37
Da Vinci comes to life!!!!!! I just finished the demo... This game is about a detective hired by Inventor and painter Da Vinci. He needs your help to stop an evil Mage set to destroy everyone that comes his way. He wants to rule all of Italy. I gotta say this: The cut scenes are beautiful.. The Hos great combination of the regular type finding items and also interactive ones. I loved the fact that you can click on certain items and they come to life.. Examples: I clicked an apple and instead of picking it up i had few bites as a snack! so cute. You click certain items and they move etc. I loved the graphics .. very sharp.. crisp and beautiful scenery of Italy (Florence). The puzzles not so hard and have choice of casual or expert for those wanting a bigger challenge.... which you can click right on the mini game. I love also that you see all his inventions and the dates etc when he created them.. great learning tool. You may also see his paintings with descriptions. As a huge history buff, i love these features. I find myself intrigued for more.. so you all know i will be buying the CE right now. Happy playing! September 18, 2014
A very good offering from this developer I'm glad I gave this game a chance beyond the first 30 minutes or so of the trial version. I purchased the game and have played roughly three-fourths of the main game. I think this is a very good offering from this developer. There have been some complaints about animal helpers being in this game, and I am here to tell you that after the very earliest stages of the game that the animal helpers are nonexistent (they aren't really animal helpers, anyway, but rather mechanical inventions of Da Vinci). The graphics are up to this developer's usual high standards, the mini-games are fun without being frustrating, and the use of inventory items has been logical thus far without all of them being dead obvious; some thinking is required along with a good memory (I prefer to refer to the hints and the strategy guide only as a last resort). I did a jigsaw puzzle which was Botticelli's Birth of Venus, and there are some interesting facts about the life of Da Vinci: this is there for your enjoyment, but the emphasis is on fun and puzzling rather than feeling like an "edutainment" game. Unless the game takes a rapid turn for the worse in the last quarter of the game, I can give this a very solid recommendation. It's a very nice game and I'm having fun with it. :-) September 19, 2014
Save Da Vinci's art and drawings in Florence! This is the fifth and best in this series, once again set in Italy. This time you are summoned to Florence by Leonardo Da Vinci to conquer the Mage who claims Florence is cursed - poison cattle and other ills - and can only be cured by burning all the art and collecting all of Da Vinci's scientific drawings. The Mage uses magic tricks of flying and fire and has a minion Gobbo who does his dirty deeds for him! Throughout the game you have to choose to follow the trusting path or the selfish path. One of the choices involves Da Vinci's assistant Lisa who may or may not be on the side of good. Of course, Da Vinci gets captured so now you have to rescue him as well, before the Mage poisons him! This is a clever game filled with lots of Da Vinci's sketches and inventions, including the flying wings. You eventually open up his Secret Chamber where you must find items to release the secrets of Anatomy, Education, and other topics. You get a mechanical pigeon for a while as a helper, who is eventually replaced by a mechanical sheep. The Sheep's Room holds your achievement trophies. There is also a store where you buy items you need with coins you find -- only could afford one metal ring for a codex so not sure if I'm missing some coins or not. The collectibles become part of a "pop-up" book of Tales written by Leonardo -- kind of an interesting bit of history not known to me before. The HOPs are not too hard and can be swapped with a shooter type of puzzle if you like. The mini-games are quite cool. My favorite is the duplication of the Madonna Benois painting using shapes and colors to match the original, so you don't have to give Gobbo the original to burn! This is a challenging game. The teleporting map shows incomplete areas that may or may not have an activitiy ready to be performed. The hint button doesn't teleport -- just points. You can find fans to get more hints. This is a worthy addition to the Grim Faade series. Try it and see! September 18, 2014
Not a Facade and certainly not Grim I seem to only submit reviews on games that are "worthy". This is one of those. I don't quite understand the low ratings as the game imparts history, whimsy and da Vinci. How could you not enjoy da Vinci? There are some educational facets to this game in that da Vinci's incredible mind is highlighted. Perhaps the lower ratings are due to a lack of appreciation of history? Who knows, as the game is fun and nicely researched with highlights of da Vinci's inventions with a modern twist. The game has good puzzles, few HOGs, and a nice balance of intrigue. The player has choices in this game, play it and find out for yourself. I enjoyed it. September 18, 2014
It worked for me You've read the more in depth reviews, covering the graphics and storyline. I don't play a game looking to find things that I don't like. Usually I either enjoy one, or I uninstall it within 5 or 15 minutes. No, this game is not perfect but I did find it somewhat different and interesting. I had fun with the HO scenes and mini games. As long as Big Fish keeps making games like the Grim Faade, Puppetshow, Maestro and the Shadow Wolf series I will be happy. September 19, 2014
Wasn't Sure....But Thought I would Give it a try! After reading some of the reviews I was on the fence with this one as I really don't like 'gimmicky' games. But I DO like this series and thought I would give it at least a try. And BOY am I glad that I did! ERS are the 'Masters' of creativity......hands down! Yes, the game does have a LOT going on but that is what makes it so interesting.....at least to this player. The HO scenes are an interesting mix and the puzzles are fun to do without you wanting to tear your hair out. I love the idea of putting the map together so that you can progress to the next scene. And all the information or misinformation #as the case may be# about Da Vinci just added to the storyline for me. Obviously a lot of thought and work went into the making of this game......the little background sounds of howling dogs and birds chirping right down to the beautiful graphics. I would say that the CE is a MUST, just to have the SG handy for those parts you are not too sure of but as usual it's always a personal choice. For me.....this game will probably go down as one of my all time favorites.....and that's saying a lot! Thank you Developers and BFG for bringing us this one. September 19, 2014
ONE OF THE BEST GAMES OF 2014 !!!! BASED ON COMPLETED GAME and BONUS CHAPTER..... WONDERFUL GAME!!!! This is one of the best games I've ever played, and I've played a lot of them! I found it plenty challenging, as I opted for no black bar hints. It was perfect in every way....fun to play, great graphics, good hidden object scenes, MANY locations to explore, a custom setting for difficulty, and words large enough to read without straining the eyes. Also, it is one of the longest games I've played, worth every dollar !!! Thank you so much ERS and Big Fish Games!!! September 24, 2014
Mage gets Leo I at first thought the came started out kind of odd and wondered if I would even like this game. Wow oh wow what a game. Whimsical, adventuresome, magical, and great story line with great flow once it got rolling. Characters were very good, and puzzles fun and on the easy side. Like their HO's and switching around with more then one type. Like the odd helpers. This game goes to the top of my to buy list. September 20, 2014
Awesome game I don't know what game those others were playing, but this game is fabulous. The graphics are wonderful. The puzzles are not the run of the mill and the HOS give a nice variety to this game. The story line may be a little weak, but all in all it's a great game. Definitely a buy. September 18, 2014
