Yahoo!! The Echoes series always delivers great games. The Echoes of the Past series of games are right up there in the stratosphere of greatness along with the Dark Parables, the MCFs and a few others that all game players are aware of. Wolf Healer is another superlative entry into the fantasy genre. It does though sidestep the prior Echoes in that ( at least in the demo ) the evil witch queen of the earlier games is not apparently relevant to the story. Here we find a young lady, Mira, who has been elevated to the exalted rank of Healer, a person with extraordinary powers to do good deeds. As she is being introduced into the Healer realm an attack is perpetrated by evildoers bent on the demise of the Healer group. Mira is left to save the day with the help of another Healer who can transform himself alternately from human form to that of a wolf. During the demo portion, Mira must perform numerous tasks beginning with finding a crystal which allows the human to wolf transformation. Of course, as in any game, Mira and her companion must perform appropriately to resume the quest. Visually, this Echoes game is as stunning as its predecessors. Orneon never fails to make its games look spectacular. The HO segments and the puzzles are top-notch. There is a degree of difficulty in some of the puzzles which encouraged me to do a couple of skips, something I never do except during a demo. I cannot wait to tackle these again once I acquire this wondrous game. There are collectible items that look something like snow globes. I have always enjoyed the background music in the Echoes series as it never gets obtrusive or annoying. If I have a very minor complaint it is that there is no lip movement by characters during the cut scenes. With the technology that developers have today, I cannot fathom why all new games to not have lip movement as this feature just makes the characters more life like. There are a couple of humorous segments in the demo such as Mira falling into a mud puddle and we must find an apt change of clothing for her. A couple of weeks ago, we were introduced to the fantastic Dark Realm game which to me is the best of 2014. Wolf Healer ( based on the demo only ) could be a strong challenger to game of the year status. Thanks to Orneon and BFG, we PC gamers have something to sink a mouthful of teeth into. The intro to the rest of the game after the demo ends certainly whets the appetite. I have the need to end this review so I can buy the game, and with a weekend sale offered, it can't get much better. October 18, 2014
Wolf - Human - Healer! This is the 6th in the series but it doesn't matter because they don't seem to tie together except maybe with a witch, who is not yet visible in this game except as the commander of the warriors who attack you and your healer comrades. These stories are always clever, with interesting premises. In this case, you are a healer who is helping young Mira rescue her father Sirius, another healer. Healers can alternate between humans and wolves, assuming they have the crystal in the bracelet that allows them to do this. So you spend some time finding your crystal, or finding a second crystal after you break your first one! What makes this game fun are the HOPs, which are mainly find an item and place it in a book. Or find where an item goes into a vignette that explains the history of the healers and Mira. The mini-puzzles are interesting -- as a wolf, you sniff out the rat, then match the rats to find your gem so you can become human again. You get to make a complex potion to save an injured wolf, who helps Mira then turns against you right as the demo ends. You then get to preview scenes from the rest of the game -- looks pretty exciting! There are 10 achievements to earn -- not your typical time vs hint ones. They include things like Potion Master, True Wolf, Fearless. You get to collect 32 glass bubbles that make up 4 planets. The map is teleporting, with objectives marked. This is a very satisfying gaming experience. Try it and see! October 19, 2014
Good addition to the series. This review is based on the demo. While I enjoyed the demo, I was somewhat surprised how little challenge the puzzles I encountered presented. Puzzles are usually my nemesis but I marched right through every one, so far. Actually, the entire game up to this point hasn't held nearly the challenge factor for me as the previous ones of this series. Haven't even looked at the strategy guide. Also, as yet, appears to be extremely light in the extras for a CE. Being a fan of the Echos of the Past series I'll purchase this, just because I have CE of the others in the series. Otherwise, personally, I would wait for the SE on this one. I recommend playing the Demo for yourself before purchasing CE. October 18, 2014
Fabulous Game! I beta tested this game, and couldn't wait for the full game to come out. It certainly did not disappoint! I enjoyed everything about the game. It was incredibly fun. The graphics were crisp and clear, nowhere muddied or so shadowy you couldn't see what you were supposed to be doing - which is one of my greatest pet peeves in Hidden Object Games. The sound was good, what I could hear of it. Unfortunately one of my new kittens had chewed through my speaker wires so I couldn't hear the sound as I would have liked to be able to report on it. Sorry. The mini games were fun, but some could have been a bit more challenging. The storyline was very good. I greatly enjoyed this game. I hope that they continue this series for a long time. This is the kind of game that made me fall in love with Hidden Object Games. I can't wait for their next installment. October 24, 2014
A Very Enjoyable Game ... Great Graphics, Sounds, Animations & So On ... A Very Enjoyable Game With Some Very Nicely Finished Features In HOG's ... I Did Grow A Little Tired Of Puzzles, Especially When There Are A Bundle All Around The Same Area ... The "Alternative Ending" Bonus Chapter Was OK ... Worth A Special Deal ... More Like This With A Bigger Adventure Would Be Good ... October 25, 2014
Great Game! Echoes of the Past Magnificent Devs As a fan of the ORNEON Developers' series, Wolf Healer offers up a different spin on the previous sequels. Always preferred due to little hand holding, the most talented mesmerizing, detailed artwork and music. Cannot deny the hidden object scenes are original and gamers are delighted to transform from human to wolf and back again while using our paws or our hands to advance. For the music alone, the CE is a must buy! More from ORNEON Developers, Bravo! Enjoy! -Mama Mia- October 20, 2014
Best Ever! I have all the games in this series. I thought they couldn't improve on the last episode but they have. Everything about this game is fantastic. Hats off to the makers of this game. I can see how much thought and work has been put into it. Just brilliant. This is my very favourite series, along with Mystery Case Files. If only all games were this good!! October 18, 2014
Is this the end of this epic game series??? Echoes of the Past 6: Wolf Healer Collector?s Edition Game, different from the previous series and it begins from the disaster! Castle of the glorious order of Healers, protectors of the fabled kingdom during many centuries, destroyed completely by the army of darkness, sent by their evil queen! They arrived onto flying winged beasts and healers didn?t manage to stop the attacking warriors. Now only you, using your unique talent to turn into the big wolf, and helping last survived Healer Mira, must find a way to undo the damage and defeat the army of darkness before it will spread all over the kingdom, wreaking havoc and destruction! Be ready to the hard battles ? your enemies using fire magic and ready to do everything to stop you! Tons of adventure, puzzles, and unique HOS must be used to find their weak spot and defeat army of darkness in this Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure! This maybe the last in the series since it stands alone and doesn't remotely resemble any of the other Echoes of the Past games. I really enjoyed this gem! October 18, 2014
So enjoyable! I've been a bit negative about some of the games I've tried recently, so I am really pleased to have found one I've absolutely loved (so far - as this review is based on completing the demo). You are a healer, one of a group who can morph into wolf form at the touch of a magic bracelet. On the day of the ceremony to welcome a young healer, Mira, into the group, your settlement is attacked, and Mira's father is taken. Your task is to accompany Mira on her quest to rescue her father. Not especially original, but the storyline hangs together well with the gameplay. Artwork was very pleasing - bright; beautifully realised. Music appropriate; voice-overs unobjectionable. The character of the young girl Mira might be a bit 'cute' for some but she didn't spoil my enjoyment. Puzzles are not especially challenging but pleasurable to do. There are variations on the HOGs to keep things fresh. Also the usual collectables one associates with a collectors edition. This game feels polished and stylish. Transitions between scenes is fast - no hanging around waiting to move from one area to another. The map function works well. This game is a return to pure escapism in a fantasy world which has been brought to life with great skill. November 1, 2014
Wolf Healers Survive? Wolf Healer picks up where the last E.P game left off, except your on your own. After the walls of the HQ tower collapses, you are left to find, and destroy, the darkness that has followed your family for centuries. However, there is a hitch, after destroying another dark evil, you're still no closer to victory. Cross your fingers it isn't the last game for Echoes of the Past series. October 21, 2014
