Surprised By This One! This one caught me off guard. I really didn't think that this was one of those games with a lot of re-play value: was I wrong! I hate the reviewers who give long winded "spoiler alerts", so I won't delve into the storyline# The game itself is very entertaining# There are even parts where you go into different 'dimensions' #hope that's not a spoiler## Voice overs are done well# There were only a couple of 'oops' moments in the HO scenes: like "Gym Shoes= Ballet Slippers" #?# but overall, well done. there were plenty of interactive HO's, & the mini games were not so complicated that you felt like giving up in the first 5 seconds. Although I consider myself an expert at these games, I always play on casual, because I want to take my time & enjoy ride. That said, the hint button charges quickly, & the interactive map is a real time saver. There's a lot of going back & forth, so the map is a must. I loved this game! I have over 300 HOS games, & this will certainly be one of my favorites for a long time to come. October 17, 2014
Shrouded Under The Magical Dome Twenty five years ago the Vulture banished your mother to the Shadow Realm and cast an evil spell that sealed the entire city of Havenwick with an impenetrable dome! Your magical powers have just awakened allowing you to "see" your mother for the first time. With the help of your mother and her spellbook you will learn to cast spells and face the evil Vulture. The spellcasters of Havenwick formed the Council of Baron's who were servants of the people and protected them from evil. Your mother was a Baron of the council as well, so you must find the other council members and rally them together to have the strength to fight against the Vultures powerful and evil spells. You will need to find (not so) hidden Ancient Runes scattered throughout the domed city, once you have found the correct amount for each spell you need to complete a mini game of connecting symbols by rotating segments until there are no open ends before using the spell. There are several spells to acquire that will allow you to fix broken items, rejuvenate dying plants, heal animals and more, your powers must be used to help others. There are many activities to do in each location, and plenty of inventory items to pick up and use as well. There aren't a whole lot of Hidden Object Scenes but they are very well done with requirements such as locating objects that match silhouettes and there is a magnifying glass located in the middle of the inventory bar that will enlarge the shapes and you can use arrows to switch to a different silhouette for magnification. There are a lot of mini games besides the spell mini games, one I enjoyed playing was using arrows to flip coins that are gold on one side and silver on the other with the goal being to flip all coins to the gold by using blocks to keep some coins from flipping over. The Collector's Edition has OST and Video, Concept Art, Hidden Runes, Gallery, Mini Games and HOP's, Lost Pages, 22 Achievements, a Bonus Game, a built in Strategy Guide and a Final Quiz. This is a quality game with a great entertainment factor worthy of a purchase, so hurry up and give this spellbinding game a try and enjoy! October 12, 2014
Are YOU Afraid to go Into the Shadow Realm? I have now played both the CE and SE versions of this game. And I MUST say, I STILL love it. Must be why I purchased the CE version as soon as it came out! lol As a young girl, your mother was banished to the Shadow Realm and your city was placed under a dome (sounds like a t.v. show I know and love - hah!). Your character has now reached an age where her magic is maturing and she is destined to go find her mother, save her from the Shadow Realm and bring her City back into the light. The graphics were amazing - no over zealous colors (devs kept their magic crayons away - thank you). Music was turned down so can't comment on that. Disappointed that lip syncing was in opening cut scene and then stopped throughout the rest of the game (should have given a lesser rating for that but I'm feeling generous today). As you move through the game play, you discover runes - can't miss them because they are like big, bright lights whenever you spot one - which in turn leads you to create various spells. Handy ones, too, such as "repair anything" and "rejuvenate/dispel greenery/plants, etc." I wouldn't mind having a few of those in my life - lol. You also move, quite frequently and, sometimes, dizzyingly (is that a word?), from real life to the Shadow Realm and back again. Sometimes, just for one little item - say, for instance, to recover the human remains. How'd you like to carry THAT around in your inventory????? Hmmmmm? 3 modes of difficulty (sorry, no "custom"), the hint button on "casual" recharges remarkably fast. No journal, but there is a Spellbook, once you find it. And, your inventory or completed spells is kept at the top, center of the screen. The HOGs (hidden object games) were incredibly different. Nothing I've ever seen before - no lists, nor silhouettes (kind of) - just not telling - play the demo to find out. lol Mini games weren't too difficult, some needed a little thought. Going by download time, and the map, this game appears to have ...... LENGTH! YAY! One of the major components in purchasing a game ... period. All in all, this game definitely gave me my personal "wow" factor - which is what made it a definite purchase - definitely. Also, I found myself talking to the computer ("huh?", "what?" "seriously?" and "hmmm") so who wouldn't want a game that makes you do that? Hmmmm? I do encourage EVERYONE to try this demo. It's a great game, even with all the back and forthing (but that's why we have a map!). Would YOU be brave enough to rescue YOUR mother from .................. the Shadow Realm??? Enjoy! Important hint. Try right clicking! Also, great game, you should consider buying either the CE, or at least, the SE. I reviewed the CE just recently, and I my opinion has not changed. I know that if I am reading reviews where there is a CE and SE, I mostly want to know which to buy. I believe that the CE for this game is a good value, and I bought it for the reasons explained in the CE review that I reproduce below. But I still think that this game is excellent, even in the SE version. Here is most of what I wrote for the CE. . . . I am mostly writing to alert players about something that was bugging me, but I figured it out. At first, I did not like what seemed to be non-responsive objects. Usually in these games, when you try to use an object and it is not the right one, one and/or two things happen. Either the object floats back to the inventory area, or you get a message (and yes, I know, sometimes the messages seem aggravating or condescending) that you have done the wrong thing. This game does neither. And it seems that you have to carefully replace the item back in the inventory area or it is stuck to your cursor. I was going to gripe about it as detracting from the playability of the game. But then, I thought of something. I went back in to the game (I?m glad I had left five minutes on the clock) and tried right clicking when I had an inventory item in my hand. Voila! It floated back down to the inventory area. Great system, but maybe they should have told me that in the tutorial? I was playing with the full tutorial on, and I don?t remember them saying that. My opinion of the game during the demo: I really like some of the music and really dislike some of the rest. The graphics are clear and the world is pretty, but not very detailed once you go through the portal, in particular. It?s like maybe another artist drew it. That?s not necessarily bad, though. I am unsure about the story. It makes sense, but things don?t necessarily seem to be happening in the right order or at the right pace, or something. For example, at the beginning, I kept feeling as if I needed to LEAVE the bedroom and follow mom. She had seemed quite insistent that I needed to do something important, so why am I dawdling in the bedroom and messing with the fireplace? But it was obvious I had to do something there. Then, dad ( guess it was dad) left using the portal, but after that, apparently it turns out the portal malfunctioned. (I sure hope dad's ok!) At this point, I decided not to even try to make sense of the story, and it went better after that. Some semi-challenging actions are required, but I was able to figure them out without referring to the story. The puzzles are great. One I ended up having to go to the guide for. That shows you, though, that it was an interesting puzzle. If I wasn?t, I would have just skipped it. The HOS are different, also. Some require you to use inventory items to solve them. Fun. Much better than the average HOS. The demo was so short and the game played pretty seamlessly. Therefore, although I got the map, I never needed it or looked at it. So I cannot give you any details about it. I will get the CE for this game because there is a bonus and also the ability to replay mini games and HOS. There don?t seem to be collectibles or morphing objects or achievements, but that?s OK with me because I don?t care about those things, anyway. The game is entertaining, and there are enough useful features for me to buy the CE. Give it a try. July 26, 2015
New puzzles galore! I love it when I start to play a game and I run across a new puzzle. Well in this game you not only get a new one every now and then, you get them throughout the whole game. Thank you, I needed a new challenge! December 4, 2014

This favorite is an Epic Adventure that truely leaves one Spellbound!!! This epic adventure has managed to captivate me from the start to the end. While the story of a lost mother in a magical fantasy land might not sound so intriguing, the way the story develops in this particular game is pretty interesting. By restoring and repairing the altars, the game allows you to switch between the real world and the Shadow Realm. Basically, there are two parallel worlds where actions in one world can affect the elements in the other. Apart from the realm-switching feature, Shrouded Tales: The Spellbound Land also includes some nice twists. The six different magical spells, for instance, they can be earned once you have collected all the missing colored glowing collectibles - they are extremely helpful during your adventure and you tend to seek their accompany very often. Also, the interactive map is beautifully designed and the hidden object scenes come with superb interface. In terms of the visuals and audio, Shrouded Tales is second to none. With its eye-catching artwork, enchanting special effects and spectacular sights; there was not a single moment of boredom when we were playing the game. The soundtracks are also very satisfying, they do not feel out of place or repetitive; at the same time, the voice overs are solid and easy to follow. In contrast to all those positive aspects, Shrouded Tales: The Spellbound Land is definitely not the game for those who seek for some challenges. The gameplay in Shrouded Tales is most of the time, straightforward; although it is a very busy game with lots to do, the tasks are very demanding. Moreover, the puzzles are unique, very fun and creative. No matter how easy the game might appear to you, let me assure you that Shrouded Tales: The Spellbound Land is not a short game. I completed the game in just a tiny bit over 8 hours, with an hour or so in the Bonus Chapter (not in the SE version). Along with the predictable extras, the Collector's Edition also consists of several cool features such as the Lost Pages that are humorous to read and the Final Quiz which is a smart addition. This is indeed a spellbound game; from out-of-this-world visuals to a delightful gameplay, this game has it all. We have definitely enjoyed our time casting spells in Havenwick and cannot wait to return for some more goodness in the sequel! June 13, 2015
Lots of fun New mini games, double locations, magic spells to cast, and a great map make this the best adventure / hidden object/ puzzle game I have played in a year. Got lost a bit and needed the hint button and the map. Complex enough to be played more than once and long enough to be value for money. One suggestion for improvement, I would love to be able to replay all the mini games again after completing the game January 13, 2015
Wish I had bought the CE Great game, read reviews early and wish I hadn't. This was a unique game with unique puzzles and gameplay. I loved the interactive hops, made them more like puzzles which made me happy. I hate the clickity click hops made for mindless dummies. Lots of places to go and a good map. It was none stop adventure, definitely would recommend CE, hopefully the bonus game was as good as the main game. August 18, 2015
a great game there is a custom level and an interactive map. i played on custom. didn't use sound. your mother has come back from the dead to help you destroy the evil one that is planning to take over the world and make it a bad place. your mother's spirit and a few others are willing to help you get rid of him, but ultimately it is up to you. sequel...i don't doubt it June 20, 2015
