PSYCHO TRAIN is an Eerie Journey that's a SUSPENSEFUL TRIP! I really liked this excellent fairly long game a lot [I was in casual mode]. Though not particularly easy, it may be the ONLY e-mystery I've played where I did not need help from outside the game so that was a BIG plus in its favour because I get annoyed with games so difficult that I have to resort to guides or forums or google: added to that, games like those are tedious to me because the gameplay is overly complicated and the storyline keeps getting broken--then I lose interest. BUT nothing bored me in PSYCHO TRAIN, it's now one of of my favourite Big Fish games! The background sounds [and intermittent music] are creepy but not overdone and the superb graphics provide disquieting ambience. You feel like you're really riding a train for much of the game, then you're all alone in a spooky station...and in other scary sites too but I don't want to reveal much plot other than to mention the threat of an ominous "TRAINMAN" who dominates the story as you try to rescue your missing child that he abducted! The occasional HOGs are well done and the puzzles are interesting too. All of the latter include a skip button [if desired] and the hint button is directional so that if you're ever wondering what to do next, just click for a hint. This game is full of sinister atmosphere [which adds to the fun of it] and I'd recommend it to anyone. PS. If you bought a return ticket, ditch it and fly home. Haha November 24, 2014
Are You Afraid of the ............................ Train????? Maybe you should be..................... You're on a train ride with your daughter. In a matter of seconds, as you look out your window you see a reflection of a pock-ed mark (ghost?) man reaching for your daughter. But, when you turn to the aisle where you saw him .... he's GONE! Then, the train has some kind of accident on the tracks. It didn't derail (although I thought it should have) but kept on going. Everyone is ................... gone ................ except you. Where did everyone go? More improtantly, where is your daughter??????? The graphics are appropriately spooky and dark. Creepy dark. There are no voice overs which adds to the creepiness. The sound effects are equally ... well ... creepy. Trains on the tracks .... train whistles ..... soul-wrenching screams in the background. Whew. There were only 2 levels of difficulty to choose from. I played on "regular". The hint button takes a while to recharge. There is NO map. NO diary/journal. NO extra anythings to help you along. You. Are. On. Your. Own. I LOVE IT! The HOGs were standard lists with some interaction. The mini games were not difficult. I LOVED that the demo didn't end before my time was up, but rather my time was up BEFORE the demo ended. I LOVED that there were no special anythings to help me in this game. I LOVED that I was on my own and had to THINK. I LOVED all the creepiness of the game. And, everything the other reviewers disliked about the game seemed to me to give it that extra dark and creepy ambience that games today are sadly lacking. The more and more I wrote this review, the more I realized I had to change my rating from a 4 (I REALLY liked this game) to a 5 because I really LOVED this game and can't wait until bonus punch Monday to purchase it. Throw away all your expectations of what this game SHOULD have, or SHOULD be "by today's standards" and just enjoy the game. You truly won't be sorry. ENJOY! November 6, 2014
An oldie but a goodie ! Old tech, enjoyable, straight forward,no witches, no overdrawn castles, just difficult HO's and good puzzles and slightly creepy so that was great ! And I used my coupon so it was free ! I wish they would return to low tech and fun creepy styles, it is very enjoyable.... July 31, 2015
A Very Enjoyable Game ... Great Graphics, Sound, Effects & Animations ... A Very Enjoyable Game With A Good Flow Between Trains & Scenes ... It Ended A Bit Abruptly ... The Intro Scene And Cut Scenes We Given A Lot Of Production Effort ... An Ending Scene Would Have Been A Nice Finishing Touch ... December 13, 2014
Better than most CE games out there these days Excellent adventure game with great graphics, smooth gameplay and not a bunch of hops around every corner! It's not as fancy as most games but it's a fun adventure game with lots of locations. Con - No map. It would have been perfect if it had a map to jump around. This type of game would be great as a CE if it had more creative puzzles and interactive, and of course a bonus game. Length of gameplay is great as well. August 17, 2015
Nope, I'm not psycho... Psycho Train is actually quite good! Despite my initial cringe when seeing this game presented as the soft release [and the name alone was enough to dissuade me, lol] I was so desperate for a 'good' game, I decided to demo it anyway... "Psycho Train" is a casual adventure game with very light H0P and a paranormal themes [not overt & the adventure aspects of the game are designed to be the thrill versus any bells and whistles]. So... there are no super 3D, overly embellished ADD type graphics; there ARE well hand-drawn quality graphics without excess; again, emphasis on gameplay versus flash. As a matter of fact, 'without excess' could actually describe just about most features that make up this game.... from the content to the music with it's very low-key score in the background, text versus 'voice overs'... [& in this case they really aren't needed to draw you in and, I will add, some games with v/o actually can take away from the game because of annoying voice character acting]. The adventure-heavy gameplay, journal and nicely done queues all are enough to be immersive. Oh... one of the key features that stood out for me was the super excellent use of sound in this game... very well done! Definitely check this one out if you enjoy casual adventure and need an easy 'fix' between block busters [which, let's face it, we've been quite lacking in that respect for awhile anyway]. Enjoy & happy gaming. November 7, 2014
Taking the Twilight Zone Express If you're looking for a mysterious, quiet ride into the unknown, this is your stop. However, if you're more interested in bells, whistles and morphing objects, best to take another train. Somber train-on-tracks and eerie train whistle accompany gamers on a quest to discover where did everyone go on this morbid trip including--your child? Slow and steady is the pace with puzzles and HOS few and far between. Hand-drawn (my favorite) scenes are simplistic but well-done--vague where appropriate to render more mystery to your quest. Not a lot of running around and objects picked up are quickly used. Would definitely play this game during some quiet time. Want to catch up to whoever or whatever has caused this nightmare and why! Thanks to Velles Studios developers for sharing their creativity. Enjoy! -Mama Mia- November 5, 2014
Easy to play This game should get you involved in the play, its easy to follow and not a great deal of back tracking. Puzzles are not that hard to do. Overall a fun game to play. November 5, 2014
Good "training" Just finished playing this, and really enjoyed it. Made me feel better about myself for playing without a w/t! It's also quite long, and not a lot of HOS. November 9, 2014
Psycho Train I enjoyed this game because: 1. the graphics were like the graphics of old games 2. there was an easy fun factor 3. the story was weird, but not gory 4. the game was leisurely played and did not require a lot of thought. This game was a nice change AND I was able to get it with a "Free Game Coupon". All of these reasons made this game VERY GOOD! July 21, 2015
