What A Complex Match 3! You're in for a treat with this Match 3 game, the complexity offered makes this top notch entertainment folks. The storyline is fantastic, and beautifully narrated, this is the first Match 3 that made me want to hear more about the story! This is a story about Rivermoor, in it's heyday it was a bustling village that attracted traders from all over, since the war however, it's nothing more than a town left to ruin with a mere three citizens...until you came along to help! The goal with this M3 game is to collect ancient artifacts to give to the King in exchange for much needed funds, ironically you need to send money back to the King. The board moves around as you make matches in different areas, and you collect inventory items hidden within hay and grass covered tiles, that are used to plow your way through obstacles. Some tiles are blocked with stone and wood, and the artifacts themselves are blocked by stone requiring you to make at least one match next to them. There is a jump map that recharges with each shield you collect and there are even mines to collect resources whenever you make matches next to them. Large matches will give you a glowing tile to explode when matched and there are also treasure chests to open once you find the key. Each upgrade you make to the village will give you a weapon such as a bomb, the bomb is recharged quickly when you match the potion bottles. This is only the beginning, and yes, you can opt to play this game in an Untimed mode, enjoy! February 11, 2015
Different for sure. I don't know how to explain this game but the one word comes in mine is complex. It's building, HOG, match 3 all together in one package. Building means you have to rebuild a village, HOG means you have to find things in the match 3 area. But if you think your done, your not. A good example. You have to get 65 woods to build a bridge. When you do build the bridge the match 3 expands. Another example, you have to find the axe to clean the forest and when you do, that also expands. You have to find keys to open chest, Certain areas within the match 3 does different things. Like I said complex is the word. As for sounds and music, I like it. It comes in two modes: Relax and Timed. I did Time and not only was it challenging but hard to explored. One good thing, there's at least a map to guide you. If you don't use the map, your get lost. All I have to say, try it for yourself. It's different that's for sure. February 11, 2015
A Treasure Chest Full Of EPICNESS ! Wow where do I begin with this one. First it's about time we got this one I've been waiting so long for this one to come and finally it's here ! This game hit everything spot on and left no stone unturned this developer knew what they were doing when they put this one together and what an awesome job they did and I would also like to mention that it's nice to see a developer that does hidden object games step out and do something else and give us something different for those of you who are wondering this developer has brought us Chronicles of Albian 1 and 2, Farmington Tales 1and 2 and Tales of Lagoona which were all hidden object games and very fun. The story is so cute the characters are a hoot, the graphics are gorgeous and the music is so fitting. You have stumbled upon the town of Rivermoor which is in bad need of repair and you first meet Hadrick who offers you a hot meal for your help and so your journey begins. What is so cool about this game is it gives you a choice of relaxed or timed mode at the beginning of each level. Usually I play the timed mode but with this one I'm playing relaxed mode simply because there is so much exploring to do and the boards are massive there are also things hidden within the levels there are treasure chest to unlock, bridges to repair and all sorts of other things to do while your on the board. There are veins you hit that will give you extra resources such as wood, gold, etc. there are mini games to play as well with some of the chest you unlock such as picking the locks or solving a puzzle. This game is full of great exploring and surprises not only do you help repair the town to it's former glory there are also side quest you do as well for the people in town and making payments to the king. As you repair the town and pay the king you unlock bonuses. There is a small map down in the left corner of each level so you can keep up with where you need to go and you can also jump from place to place on the map when your jump meter is full. The boards are floating and as I said they are massive and full of never ending surprises. I feel pretty sure this game is gonna offer hours of fun and will be one that will take some time to complete since it does have at least 100 levels and each one is huge. I only played about five minutes of the demo before I jumped all over this one I knew I had to have it. This is by far one of the best if not the best match 3 I've played because it simply has it all and you are able to make matches while the tiles fall and there are no levels with limited moves thank god ! I really hope to see more like this from this developer because this game is simply epic in every way and I would love to see more like this. This game is a must have. Give the demo a try it is so worth it ! Thank you dev's for such a lovely and epic game and please give us more and thank you Big Fish for finally giving us this one. Have fun everybody ! Has everything in a m3 that I like Although I have many m3 games, they have become less interesting. This game has everything that i like in order to buy. It has pretty graphics, music, a good story, nice playing field, and vo's. The vo,s are English accents and actors that sound like they are acting the part, really! I'm so tired of developers who put so much thought into what would be a good game and have actors who sound like they are reading from a script.....I can do that! I also need to have the chance to build or add improvements to (in this case) a town. We need more like this and Spooky Bonus. Thanks, Developers February 11, 2015
So cute!! Wow...this has to be one of the best M3 games I've ever encountered! It's HUGE! It is a building, quest and adventure game with a lot going for it. The graphics and voices are adorable, to start with. The M3 boards are really enormous and if you play on the relaxed mode you get to explore the whole board; there are treasure chests and goodies to find under the boxes, paths to clear, mines to collect gold and ores, sequences to match for prizes...so much happening, it's hard to cover it all. I am not sure how one would play on the timed mode, as I did not get a chance to try before my time on the trial was up. But the part I did was immensely fun! The matches are quick, which is a must, and the screen scrolls in the direction of the matches you make, although you can skip around with an upgrade. This M3 is so complex, I'm sure I have left out a lot of the extras....you gotta try this if you like more than a straight M3. I have never seen the likes! Really, really well done!! Something REALLY new! I have to agree with an earlier reviewer that Vesuvia was the closest game to this one, but this is better, bigger, and more frustrating, which can be a plus. Actually learning how to move around on the board is demanding, and requires thinking. I have played about 25 levels (in the time it would take to finish a simple Match-3), and searching around for the apparently impossible corner that is not done yet is a big part of the challenge. I guess someone who can't tolerate frustration would not like this, but I much prefer it to some of the dead ends I have gotten into in IHOGS, that I never could solve. These difficulties are solvable. My best recommendation is not to get frustrated too early. Enjoy the learning experience. One warning: Partially solved levels cannot be saved. This can be a problem when a level can easily take 20 minutes or more to solve. I had to leave for an appointment and had to return to restart an almost-solved level. Yes, it is easier the second time, but still a flaw in this otherwise very good game. February 11, 2015
RUNe to buy and FALL in love. What a great match 3! All sorts of challenges, moving board and sweet characters and story line. Also can play with or without it being timed. February 11, 2015
Artifacts, Runes, Massive Playing Field and yes, a Match 3 Game! BEST BEST BEST BEST ..... VERY BEST Match 3 game EVER! Uh. Do I like this game??? NO! I LOVE IT! lol The storyline is exquisite! Not just .... oh, here is a kingdom that was prosperous and went bad. More .... so much more ..... so involved in what happened NOT just to Rivermoor. The graphics are .... absolutely LOVELY! I almost wish I were living in that beautiful little glade myself! The music and sound effects were also ..... perfect! The narrator .... OMGosh! What CAN'T I say about the narrator. A villager himself who speaks who true voice inflections and feeling. Not too fast and not too slow .... he totally immerses you in the story. There is a relaxed mode which I recommend to get the MOST out of the game play. You get to choose among 3 cursors. There is a tutorial during the game that is perfect as this is a "different" type of match 3 ... but in no way is it intrusive. The game itself? Where do I even begin? Yes, it IS a match 3 game .... but OH SO MUCH MORE! It's a game board that moves as you play. Make a match to the right, your game board will move with you. Difficult to explain but oh so fun to play! Make matches in the "grassy" areas to find things like a pickaxe so you can "use" it on the "rocky" area to take to yet another area. Several areas have walls to knock down by making matches and breaking boxes to get to artifacts, runes, etc. Then, find the exit???? But, wait, there's MORE! The matches you make earns you materials. At the end of each level, use what you've earned in materials to help rebuild the little "Keep/Village". Oh, there's MORE! Make matches of 3 or more to gain bonuses and power ups! Yes, a story, a building game, a type of hidden object game AND all built into a match 3 game! Who could ever have dreamed this up! I love match 3 games but it's hard to find one that's truly entertaining. THIS game is not only entertaining but amusing and it keeps you engrossed in what's going to happen NEXT in the story ..... which YOU are a part of! I had the opportunity to play this on another gaming site and couldn't WAIT for it to be released on BFG so I could purchase it. NOW I CAN!!!! I recommend this for everyone from beginners to experts. Come join me in Rivermoor and Hollow's Keep and have fun rebuilding the town with amusing game play! ENJOY! February 12, 2015
A Refreshing and Wonderful Match 3 Game This will be a very short review to the relief of many ? lol. Most important to say is that I love this game. Runefall is one of the best match 3 games I have seen in such a long time. The game is refreshing and in a much overused word, awesome. The graphics are wonderful as are some of the best voiceovers I have ever heard in a game. The story has wonderful narration and soon we meet Hadric, the village constable of Rivermoor, who guides us on our journey. Hadric very politely asks us to help him complete some tasks in order to pay tribute to the king. Not only do we meet Hadric but we encounter others as we move through the game. The game is a complex mix of genres that blend to create one of the most wonderful match 3 games that I have played in the past few years. The developer of this game, IMHO, ?hit the nail on the head? with the creation of Runefall. Needless to say, the game is an instant purchase for me but as always, I recommend that you at least try the demo to see if this is a game you will like. February 11, 2015
Amazing Game By now you will all have a very good idea of what goes on in this amazing M3 game. Whilst you are finding your way around and there is a lot to find, use the untimed mode and then give yourself a challenge by going "Timed". This is a high-quality game and I recommend it. If you do nothing else, at least give it a go in the free trial mode. February 12, 2015
