Toy Defense: Sci-Fi 3.2 5 12 12
Toy Defense Goes Sci-Fi The 3D graphics are what makes this game top notch, the colors are stunningly vivid and crisp. I absolutely love this sci-fi tower defense game, complete with Plasma Guns and Plasma Flamethrowers, my smallest weapon is a Rapid Fire Laser! You choose the weapons you want (which actually depends on your funds) before the first wave of attacks begin, by clicking on the desired weapon and dragging it to the tower platform. Once you click to unpause the game, the battle begins as robot soldiers and space vehicles arrive in groves, hopefully you have placed the weapons in the correct places. As the enemy is defeated, you earn money to purchase more weapons in order to defend your base. there are icons to the right of the screen, which can be used as emergency backup equipment if all else is failing. When all waves are finished you can keep your best weapons for the next battle, the first two slots are free, others are available to purchase. All upgrades must be done after completing a set of waves, you can choose to upgrade the weapons, your soldiers etc. and each category has several tiers of upgrades available. The only complaint I have with this TD game was with the very basic tutorial and the lack of equipment explanations given. There is really no way of knowing what some of the speciality equipment does until you deploy that weapon, otherwise this is a very fun and addicting Tower defense game, enjoy! February 9, 2015
What a Blast!!! I have not had this much fun since Toy Defense: Fantasy! They did a great job making a sequel to a fun series that is completely fresh. You are killing robots and star jets with lasers and plasma rays in this version of a tower defense game. On the downside, some of the options could have used a description with a cursor hover, but you can figure them out with a look at the base and ammunition upgrades to learn what the symbols mean. This version needs a bit more tactics than did "Fantasy" and is every bit as fun and occasionally annoying :). I played the demo and will buy. I am confident it will be as good as Fantasy was. Music and effects are gently cheesy sci fi and just for fun. Graphics worked, though a bit small. I liked the look of Fantasy better, but this bodes to be a tougher run. We shall see :) February 9, 2015
The Best One Yet! I love this series of TD games, but this one really knocked it out of the park for me. The challenge is great, even in the trial period I restarted because it wasn't as predictable as I had thought. This might become my new favorite TD game! One reviewer mentioned how there isn't any real description of what things do - if you click on each of the weapons/upgrades/arsenal/etc it will give you a fairly detailed definition of what each one does. If you love TD games, you'll want to own this one, if you are new to them, give it a try. February 10, 2015
This game is way under rated! If you like a strategy game then this is the ultimate! It's awesome graphics is enough to want to play never mind the strategy it takes to win! You MUST try this game and others like Toy Defense: Fantasy....you won't be disappointed! April 18, 2015
Great Game But has Flaws Love the game, have all four of the Toy Defense. However, appears not much effort was put into trying it out before release or it's biggest flaw would have been noticed. The icons on right side, like Hand of God, and the ones at top right get in the way of upgrading weapons as clicking on the upgrade button of soldiers, tanks, cannons, etc when they over lap them also click on the hand of God, Pause, etc. Recommend the game, is fun but the one flaw is frustrating. Great Escape Bought and enjoyed the Toy Defense Fantasy and Sci Fi. Preferred Fantasy over Sci Fi. TDSF graphics are crisp and clear but on the small side. The board is smaller. It was difficult for me to see the upgrades. TDF upgrades were easier to see. The sound is appropriate and useful. Game play flows very well for a TD game. Never encountered any glitches. The speed seemed to be on the slow side in normal but way too fast on speed up. Upgrades based on levels was the same as TDF and very useful. The added feature of retaining upgraded weapons from one level to the next helped. Unlike some TD games, it's possible to make 3 stars on every level. On the downside, the tutorial was scant. Anyone new to the Toy Defense series might become overly frustrated. I recommend the game to Tower Defense fans but not for newcomers to the series. They should probably try out TD Fantasy first. And always try before you buy. April 29, 2015
Too speed or too slow... I'm usually a huge fan of tower defense game. But this one is very disappointing. You can only choose between very slow motion or over speed, there's a few (or no) explanations of towers and enemies. I played like 30 minutes and... uninstalled it. In my opinion, it's a game you should play on a rainy day, with nothing on TV. February 10, 2015
Toy Defense Sci-Fi There is no comparison with this game and their Toy Defense Fantasy. It's graphics and total game is enjoyable and challenging. Didn't even finish with the 60 minutes! Very disappointed. February 16, 2015
Not as much fun as the previous versions especially Fantasy I've played the previous versions of Toy Defense and especially liked Toy Defense 3 - Fantasy. I was hoping Toy Defense Sci-Fi would be a version of that game however it is a more complex version of the prior Toy Defense (1 & 2) games. I very much disliked the "new functionality" that was much better orchestrated in the Fantasy version. Now you must purchase everything with some functions having been further broken out for purchase. For those of you who haven't played these games, "purchase" refers to the stars earned after each match that can be used to upgrade the stats of various weapons. Power ups function differently (located in the "Arsenal") and I'm pretty sure the "Hand of God" is not working. My best recommendation is to play the trial version to get a feel for this one and decide whether you like all the controls required to play the game now. March 17, 2015
Horrible controls You'd think after releasing essentially the same game with different characters a bunch of times previous, the makers of the Toy Defense games would have things perfected. Sadly, that's not the case here. There's changes, but no improvements. In fact everything that is different about this title from previous Toy Defense games is annoying and detracts from fun gameplay. My three main complaints are: 1. No instructions, and no real indication what each gun does in its base configuration. Also not enough information about what upgrades will give you. 2. Slide-out menu for gun placement is awful, only works some of the time, other times I find myself frantically trying to drag it out to access a gun I desperately need, only to have it disappear again before I can grab a gun. 3. Tortoise-slow or turbo-fast are the only speed options. One is tedious, the other is impossible on the higher levels. I usually enjoy the Toy Defense titles, and even though they are all very similar I end up buying them anyway because I like tower defense games and there's not many offered. Unfortunately because of the multiple flaws that affect gameplay and enjoyment, I'm passing on this one. February 12, 2015
