TOUGH BUT FUN Mortimer's uncle needs his help in ridding his manor of ghosts. The uncle has attempted to build a machine to send the ghosts packing, but needs Mortimer's help to complete it. This is a challenging HOG with lots of locations and lots of HOS in each location. Items found in one scene need to be used in other scenes in order to find other items. However, the back and forth was not excessive and once a location was finished, there was no reason to go back. The items were sometimes small, dark and very hard to find. At the beginning of each location, a set number of hints are available to finish the level. There is no way to get more hints, so they must be used wisely. I never came close to using all of them, as I saved them for the very end of the location. If I had trouble finding something in a scene the first time around, I did not use a hint. I waited until I had found as many items in all the other scenes first. Often an item in another scene would unlock something in the scene I was stuck on. I found that you have to pay close attention to the map, as it tells you what needs to be done in each scene. I thought I was done with the game, but couldn't get the Ghost Machine to activate. I even put a question in the Game Forum for help. I needed a battery from the Indian Room and couldn't figure out how to get it. I went back to the map and found a couple of locations that I thought I had finished, but still showed things that needed to be done. Once I completed all the locations, then I was able to get the battery and complete the game. I'm looking forward to playing the other games in this series. May 23, 2016
Just a FUN hidden puzzle. I stopped the game to write this review. For $2.99 plus double Punch Monday - you can't go wrong. Please give it a try. Experts will not like it but I'm old, play Casual, just for FUN. Now back to the game! June 6, 2016
Oldie but goodie! I don't understand the low ratings this game has gotten. I have all of these games and love them. I think this was the first fragmented HOP I had ever played and loved it. I really wish they would come out with a new one. It's been several years since the last one came out. June 6, 2016
What a pleasant change! So many HO games have dreary storylines. This one has a storyline, yes, but it doesn't run along with the game. You get story at the start and the end - for the majority of the game, you get to find hidden objects! :-) Okay, so to more experienced players it'll probably appear a bit simplistic - dull even - but to those of us who want to test our observational skills and look for objects (and some are REALLY hard to find!) I reckon this is a game to look at. I was determined to complete it without using any hints - and did. That said, the game ISN'T too easy and is a nice change from the current scene-overloaded games available. All in all, if you're looking for a bit of light relief, I'd recommend a look at this one. After all, with the free trial, you have nothing to lose! Oh yes, finally, the background music is nice too! Go on, try it - its fun! :-) May 28, 2016
Entertaining Kept me busy, was entertaining and more than just a hidden object but not by much. There were some puzzles. The items are hidden in plain site but piece-meal. Example: a key would be cut into 3 parts and spread around; a shoe 5 parts and on different parts of the page but in plain site -yet very well blended into its image match. It reminded me of the game I played as a child called "I Spy". Anyway, I liked it. I have also purchased the 2nd Mortimer Beckett game and there are four. It was nice not to be rushed or have drama. Good for lunch hour at work or for the kids too. There were no tech problems :o) The story is written comic book style. May 16, 2015
This One is Challenging This game has you finding pieces of things, which can be very hard to locate. Once you have all the pieces, you have to figure out where to put the object. You do 3-5 rooms at a time. All the object pieces are in the same room, but the object may be used in another room. Not much of a story line. The ghosts aren't scary at all. This game is probably more for the 6-9 y.o.; they have better eyesight to find the bits. Family game. I don't remember anything being even suggestive, no profanity. May 12, 2015
Disappointed I've been waiting for the Mortimer Beckett series to appear because I had read reviews elsewhere that it was a "fun" game. I must have missed something in the translation because I couldn't find anything "fun" about it. I think "fun" means something that tends to at least bring a smile ( or even better, an occasional laugh) ... but this game offered neither. It is not a terrible game, and some people might like it ... but to me it was just a basic HOG (and some of the items were ridiculously small) ...although there are unlimited hints available. I simply found the game boring and disappointing. May 9, 2015
Disappointing This game was not like the other Mortimer Beckett games. It was all about finding a complete object that was cut up into multiple pieces and scattered around a room. Once all the pieces were collected and put together to form a complete object, you would then put the object where it belonged in that room. The entire game was about visiting all the rooms in the mansion and doing the same gameplay in each room. When all of the rooms in the mansion were completed, you had to look for the last piece of the puzzle to restore the ghost busting machine. I like hidden object games, but this one I found to be somewhat boring. Since I bought the game, I was inclined to complete it. May 30, 2016
Annoying game When the Mortimer Beckett games came out several years ago, at that time they were quite fun. Except for this one. Although, in all the games the pieces could be hard to see, this one could be very difficult. I found the ghost penalties to be extremely irritating. They started popping up after only one or two clicks and because the pieces were hard to find they popped up very quickly and if you tried to keep looking in the same room, more and more ghosts would pop up. But you can get relief by going to another room, But all the rooms were so full of similar junk that when you went back to a room it was difficult to remember where you had clicked, then the first thing you know, the ghosts are baaaaaaak! all items are in pieces hard to find things when they are in pieces. I didn't like this game. June 6, 2016
