DID YOU KNOW? Ahhhhh! It's an AWESOME GAME! Yikes! Game deserves better reviews imho. Not all games are the same and fit into a neat little box with a bow. It's a retro game and easy enough to follow. No bells and whistles here of which, I for one have grown oh so weary of picking items up and putting them down to the point of madness. Now, here's a game I try and look around the corner first before venturing forward so as not to get a fright and fall out of my chair. :)) Here is also a game of interest. Hidden object scenes can be enlarged if you're trying to spot an item you just can't seem to find--like a paperclip. Look around and click around--nothing wrong with that! Gamers will find some "Did you know" facts regarding documented ghostly hauntings. Also, not sure if all the hidden objects have them, however, clicking ghostly figures or shadows can offer up some more interesting facts. Pretty cool, I'd say. Love to find hidden little gems within a game. Thank you developers for taking the time and effort into your game which is now my game as I purchased right away. Enjoy! -Mama Mia- October 22, 2015
Fantastic! This is a very unique and challenging Hidden Object game. You play a paranormal investigator trying to prove or disprove a haunting at Medford Asylum. I have no idea why this game got any negative reviews. The graphics are stunning, smooth and gorgeous. The sound is superb and delightful. I don't see anything "1990's" about this game. I've been playing games for years and there is nothing 90's about this game, at all. I bought it after playing for 10 minutes. If you're having problems seeing smaller objects in the HOS's, scroll in. Yes, you have that ability! Hold down your mouse button and move the screen around to see it in its entirety. Wonderful game, wonderfully done! October 23, 2015
Challenging! Great Game! Different! Despite all the negative reviews, I can say this game was worth every bit of time and money I spent on it. I know this game is a bit old school, which many don't like because there are no bells and whistles, so it makes "different". (And I happen to like different because it makes for a challenge.) Yes, there is no map but there are bubbles that give you easy clues to find your way around. Exploration is required but that adds to the fun of the game. The graphics were real like and the music was good. Though there was no voice over I found I liked reading the script parts to get the story, which was nice change to having voice actors. And I liked the little ghosts I discovered that gave actual info about haunted places. I do recommend the demo for those that prefer things given to them before buying. And for those looking for something different give the game a try. The more you play the more you'll be drawn in...I was. December 17, 2015
Fantastic for Halloween or Any Spook Night No matter what any one says. I love this one! I bought it today and one of the great things about this one is the graphics! I love "real" looking game graphics. I also love that there are ghosts to find in each level, some have more than one ghost. If you click on them you get actual and factual "Did you know" info about haunted places and areas throughout the USA. I really liked that. The intro on this game was one of the best and spookiest too. It showed what looked like real footage of patients from mental asylums from back in the day. I think this game is very worth it and is great for Halloween!! Totally spooky! No it does not have voice-overs but I can read just fine. Everything is it top notch for me! Great job developers! So glad to get something spooky for the upcoming season! October 21, 2015
Good game, but... It was way too short. I loved the abandoned asylum theme, but it would've been more fun to explore more areas and to have more character interactions. And the whole mystery bit needed to be fleshed out. November 13, 2015
Can you say HO HO HO?... This game is all about Hidden Objects scenes. Which for me is just fine, because sometimes that's what I want to play. The story is all gloom and doom thus the scenes. Who really wants to get stuck in a deserted asylum anyways? The music is accordingly gloomy. The HO scenes have the zoom in feature which helps locate those sneaky items. I do not agree with some reviewers that were stating that this is an old game. It has in one of the scenes "smartphone" that is pretty modern. The graphics are good enough and these developers created other games that I own as they're all about the HO. No voice-overs but written dialog that you can click-skip. You find ghosts in the scenes you get to learn about haunted places. Other than that no frills and thrills in this game just HO scenes one after another, which I actually really like, because sometimes the plot itself does not matter to me when it comes to playing pure HO games. Try it before buying. October 21, 2015
Almost, but buggy REtro with good art, Medford Asylum makes too much use of captions to advance the story, but I can live with that. What I find difficult to live with is that as you change scenes, any scene, you are whisked out of the asylum and then back inside. The controls seem a bit off. Can you pick something up with a mouseclick? Yes, but if you want to move it, don't lift your finger from the mouse. When you've found the hidden objects and located the additional one, a screen comes up to tell you you've found it. Annoyingly, you don't get to put it into inventory. You click an x, and perhaps the item goes into inventory. Ultimately, the control quirks were so annoying that I stopped playing the demo even though I was intrigued by the story and enjoyed the art. Try it. October 21, 2015
Hard to maneuver I love hidden object games, but this game doesn't give you any options. I had to keep hitting the help button so I would know what to do next. I could not figure out how to find things I needed to go to the next step. I would not recommend it. Thankfully I played the trial game. Very confusing and no fun for me at all.. October 29, 2015
A Little Bit Of Fun ... Graphics OK, Sound Is Basic With No Frills Attached ... It Is A Bit Old School In Construction But Playable, And The HOG's Are Very Repetitive ... Good Enough To Fill A Gap On A Rainy Day Or Waiting For The Next Big Hit Game ... Worth A Voucher ... October 23, 2015
It's Designed To Be Retro And It's Not That Bad First of all this is an old school "click and drag" game. After reading the reviews it sound as though reviewers weren't aware of this feature which allows you to scroll your mouse to zoom into any area and then click and drag the scene around. With this feature, the items to find aren't tiny. Another feature not mentioned is that whenever you click on a "ghostly apparition" a pop up window appears to tell you a factoid about other haunted facilities , many of which have been featured on a popular ghost show, some debunked, some with no explanations. (yes I love the paranormal) Contrary to what the others have stated, the graphics are lifelike and decent. In fact, I bet the devs devoted much of their budget to the graphics. I do agree however, that the feet and eye bubbles are unnecessary and bothersome. Whenever you click on the scene, bubbles will appear to show you which directions are available, where there is an available puzzle, or a HOS. There are no voiceovers, and you will have to read dialog boxes to understand the plot, but there isn't a ton of reading, just a few sentences at a time. Basically, Alison Carter has been sent by the insurance company to investigate the Medford Asylum. Workers restoring the asylum that had a deadly fire 15 years ago, have refused to work there because they believe the building is haunted. There are an overabundance of Hidden Object Scenes, and almost every time you revisit a location, there will be another available HOP in the same place. This is a feature I do not like because it's too easy a second time and too boring. Again, the scenes can be scrolled into to zoom and you can then drag the scene around to search for smaller items, and the factoid ghosts. The Mini Games are far and few between, and they are a bit lame, such as putting together a torn stencil or changing all the lights from white to blue. This game is mostly about searching for the needed items in a HOP and then using that item to progress. I'm not saying this game is great, but some gamers will enjoy this type of adventure.
